siouxland roadways as one person was killed in a head on crash in cherokee county yesterday jessica rae: according to the iowa state patrol, a head on collision occured just north of larrabee iowa authorities say a car driven by 19- year-old kaliegh cherokee struck a truck driven by 43- year-old shannon manwarren of primghar. jones died as a result of that crash. manwarren and two passengers in her vehicle were injured and transported to cherokee center. an investigation into the crash is ongoing... jessica rae: the names of the three people who car crash on friday. 68-year-old karol ash-li-mann)... rayburn...

those holiday parties? well you're in luck... howard has a recipe that has a secret ingredient that will bring the house down! "whenever we share a recipe that has a secret ingredient, it's always a hit. so we dug out an old favorite that we came up with almost 30 years ago. and whetetr you serve it for chanukah, christmas or just because, these bite- sized buttery, rich rugelach always disappear fast. to make them, all we do is cut a good amount of butter with some flour. and if you're not familiar with cutting flour and butter together you can do it with a pastry cutter like this, or with a couple of knives. once it's crumbly, we add our secret ingredient.some softened vanillalace cream. that gives the

you put in a hard workout, then go to the gym, workout, then you eat pizza a and you can n ill sleek physique... but when you're 35, 45, and 55... you do the same workout, you eat pizza... and the pounds keep packing on? i spoke with doctor steven joyce from mercy medical center, he explains how and why our metabolism slows down as we age... dr steven joyce with mercy medical center says, as we age our basal metabolic rate slows down, meaning even as we are sitting, standing, walking during our daily activities, our bodies are no longer burning calories the way they used to dr. steven joyce: "so i tell people especially as we approach our 40s, and 50, and 60s, when we start to see that

slow down i.e. our metabolism slow down then we really something else to calorie expenditure and that's with exercise." rae: because our basal metabolic rate slows as we age, we can longer ingest calories, off the same amount so dr joyce says of exercises, aerobic exercises... although it's good to perform both types of exercise, as we age, it's more important to focus on a specific one. joyce: "but really it is the aerobic capicity that we should be working on so that is again, the walking, jogging, biking, swimming, and that sorts of things and those can all be done middle age or older age, we just have to realize our bodies limits. rae: dr joyce also says preparing our bodies for a slower basal metabolic rate, starts early on... joyce: "we should start improving our life style changes probably in our 20s, even teens, and we know that kids arar't as active as they should be, so we should start preaching it then. but as far as being aware of our basal metabolic rate and our slowing
