wrong. searching is resumed from a missing emt in lakewood. he walked away from a party a month ago and hasn't been seen since. friends and family teamed up to look for him last night and his father and fiance are leading a group of volumes later today. >> any father out there would go through anything to find their son. >> the search comes weeks after the ground search was called off. summer is over for some kids ol jefferson county are going back into session. jamie leary is live this morning and hang on, i have to yell at my daughters to get up and get moving now. there we go. out to you. >> reporter: summer is over unfortunately. the superintendent just aryed at the bus barn here in jefferson county. the bus drivers up and out early.

ride along today to check in and say hello. he has a busy day for the first day himself. be careful, there's a lot of kids on the road. if you want to know, enrollment numbers are 1200 more kids than yesterday. making a total of 64,000 students enrolled in the jefferson county school district. they put out tips to be mindful of. i know these seem obvious you're on the road this morning. make sure you're not double parking when taking kids to school. it blocks visibility for other children. don't load or unload children across the street from the school and car pool to reduce number of vehicles. keep in mind it's illegal in all 50 states to pass a school bus to stop or unload children. always be mindful of distance

it's lily likely chemicals contaminated ground water in security, eye yacht field and fountain. at least some of the chemicals came from peterson air force base where firefighters used the foam in training.

will tour the damage from the historic flooding in southern louisiana today. mississippi national guard helicopters continue to drop sandbags to control flooding there and crews are using boats to check on people still in their homes in the town of marpo. 13 people have died in louisiana. trump's new campaign manager. hillary clinton is scheduled to meet with law enforcement leaders in new york today. the broncos return to the practice field with the 49ers today and the coach is expected to name a starting quarterback for saturday's big game. the teams were out in pads yesterday and both mark sanchez

over a million ears of corn are picked a day here in olathe, colorado. and i'm glad we have a senator who uses his ears to listen to colorado farmers. michael bennet asked what he could do to help, and then worked with republicans to make a farm bill that's making a difference to all farmers in colorado. the thing that impresses me most about michael bennet: we don't always agree, but he values our input. and i do trust michael bennet to look out for us.

are the slowest spots and as the accident at spear starts to slow down they may build up more volume. a highlands ranch teenager found a kidney donor through a bumper sticker. she's helping a young boy campaign for the kidney he needs. she's a 17-year old who received a kidney trans plant of her own four months ago. she had a 2% chance of finding match but found a living donor through a bumper sticker campaign. she hopes the same thing will help 13-year old adrian francisco she met at children's hospital. >> through faith and trying to get the word out, we can make another miracle happen. >> she travels four days a week for kidney dialysis. the new sticker campaign gives them hope. good news for those who tend

joe will be talking about a big change coming up in the full weather segment. good morning, it's a bit unsettled southbound to i-25 at spear. you can see this accident and looks like it's on the left shoulder but people are starting to slow down. i'll give you the full details of this coming up. new from overnight, car bomb hit police headquarters in eastern turkey killing at least three police offer province van also killed a police officer and two civilians last night if turkey. new this morning, a fire damaged four apartments in north boulder. it happened before midnight near popular and broadway. no one is hurt but the red cross is helping the families affected by the fire. today we could learn more about a woman's death which police are calling suspicious. officers found her body in a home near mississippi and tower road. police were still at the house

anyone was actually living in that home. security guards now patrolling the 16th street mall following violent attacks and other troublesome crime there. business owners along the mall tell their own worrisome stories. a man came in our store and demanded money. no security around and i ran out of the store asking for help and no one was to b it was just really scary. >> aside from the obvious worry, it's not an image downtown promoters want out there. they are adding two private security officers per shift with shifts run 24 hours a day, seven days days a week. they are not armed but they do have pepper spray and handcuffs to detain people. they will monitor things to see

thursday morning with chris spears. >> good morning, a light wind out there. you see our view of a state capital and those flags are flopping in the breeze. nothing that you need a jacket sfr. temperatures in the 50s and sixers in lower el vagss. a little chill in limon. 48 and definitely a chill in leadville. 47 in aspen and salida. 64 nice and mild over there in the grand valley on the western slope. we are futurecast today. there's a weather disturbance in the north west as it crosses the state. it's kicking up showers and storms. most of this coverage staying in the higher elevations but mid to late afternoon a fau may come across the i-25 corridor. a slightly better chance than we saw yesterday then we'll turn our eyes to the north tonight. a cold front is rocketing in here from wyoming and it will probably be a windy night tonight at least at times as the

90s. 86 or so and 87 in denver. low 70s in the higher elevations and the western slope a variety of temperatures. could get near 90 in the grand junction valley. here's a big changing forecast for you. big dip in the temperatures tomorrow with the front. much cooler and unsettled and tons of cloud cover tomorrow. maybe scattered rain and thunderstorms lasting into saturday morning and we'll clear out for the big broncos game satu you may need a sweater and joe, sunday into monday we bounce right back into the 80s. >> it's like the cool spots never happen. >> here's a look at i-25 and 84. quite a bit of slow traffic heading southbound because there's an sden in lane number two which is the second from the left lane. as you can see cars trying to get around it and a lot of slow traffic behind that. it's getting tough this morning into downtown as we take a look at the maps.

spear is leading to quite heavy delays. you can see stretching back to highway 36 and it's going to make for a tough drive throughout the metro area. otherwise we don't have those problems on the highways other than those two but it's going to be a tough drive heading into downtown. investigators say a viral video showing a wire strung across a mountain bike trail may not be what it looks like. the bureau officials belief the wire was an old farmer's fence and not a booby trap. this after a cyclist shared a video. he says he hit it and went tumbling over his handle bars. a bike shop owner in grand junction says he cannot believe it. >> he had gone out the next day and filmed it where it was and

mountain bike trail booby trapped in gunnison involved wood stacked on a blind curve. no one was hurt. you won't be paying increased lift ticket taxes in vail any time soon. city leaders considered putting it on a ballot. the city wanted to use the extra money to create more parking. the ceo is pledging to work better with the cities on solutions to problems. skiing can weigh heavily on a parent's pocketbook but there's now an opportunity to allow your kids to ski for free. it's called epic kids colorado pack pock. keystone and brejen ridge mountains are a logging kindergarteners and middle schoolers to ski for a stretch of three days. you can register now for october 9th and it can be done

students enrolled this year in jefferson county this morning. friends looking for a missing emt from lakewood. the 25 disappeared. 225-year old disappeared a month ago after leaving aar called off. it may be tonight before crews contain a fire burning close to homes near berthoud. voluntary evacuations are no longer in place. that's the good news this morning. firefighters spent hours yesterday saving this house. flames came feet from the side of it. crews sprayed water on a large woodpile stacked near trees but eventually the fire destroyed this shed. one woman says this is the second time this summer a

her house. >> do you realize how much things are tied to your memories and you don't want to leave certain things. we have two peyton manning signed jerseys in the house and you don't want to leave them but they won't fit. >> they are trying to keep the 88 acre fire under the blue cut fire did not let up overnight. firefighters got dangerously close to flames. only 4% contained this morning. crews aren't sure how many homes are destroyed but the number is large.

monday and derrick rolled an ankle in the practice. look out for the rookie to get more work. both players had dominant moments against the bears so there's a lot to watch for this weekend as the broncos take on the 49ers saturday night. what are we looking for? what's going to help in this decision? >> there's a lot of things but really what the coach wants to see is the guy who steps up and takes charge and owns this offense. you see peyton manning gng there and it was his offense even when he was hurt. people listeneded and that's what he wants to see out of these guys. the broncos have some history with kaepernick. he's coming off the injury list as well. >> britt, kaepernick didn't practice yesterday so everyone in broncos country took a sigh of relief. glad he stuck to his guns on
