jennifer brice, they tell you the victim may be tied to another crime scene nearby. >> reporter: that is right. sources are telling me that this shooting is the result of a home invasion of a marijuana grow house in this area. this crime scene stands about two blocks from this home. they just got a warrant to go inside that house. the house is still taped off. down the street is where the other side of the crime scene is. and that is where a man was found shot to death out >> reporter: evidence markers line this homicide investigation off 76th. hank mcdonald lives on the corner. cops swarmed the area around 7:00 am and have been busy all day. >> they mick up a lot of information, bagged it all up. >> reporter: this neighbor could see the body of the man killed lying on the lawn. >> there's so much violence in

to see it right here makes me concerned. >> reporter: sources say the shooting is connected to a home invasion of a marijuana grow house in the area. sources sate person inside the grow house shot one of the suspects trying to break inside, attempting to steal pot plants. the body was found on a lawn nearby. deputies are looking for a person of interest but won't release that name. >> we're not sure if he's a suspect or what his status is. we're just looking for involved. >> reporter: the crime tape was lifted from the area around noon. but it remains with police guards at this home. deputies sate public is not in danger. is >> i feel scared for my safety because i live here with my daughter. >> reporter: deputies do have a search warrant now. they are actively pursuing this area, another part of the crime scene,

the coroner says she hopes to soon release the identity of the person that was shot to death. the latest on the information into the death of a denver woman in a crosswalk. coleen o'connor worked for the denver police. the driver that hit her might have been drunk it. happened last night at 1st and downing. andrea flores is live outside the building downtown tonight. coworkers are remembering o'connor today. >> reporter: that's right. it's been a difficult day for the staff at the denver post. they learned one of their own was killed by a suspected drunk driver. today they took time to remember the woman they say was the most compassionate person in the room. 23-year-old jesus corrino is in confident for

dui. the suspect hit o'connor while she was in a crosswalk wednesday night. he left scene and drove for about a mile before calling 911 to report the accident. he is under investigation for vehicular homicide and dui. investigators believe he had the green light when he hit o'connor in the crosswalk. >> we write about accidents like this every single probably. sometimes three times a week. and it's very difficult to process that it could be happening to someone in your own community. >> reporter: coming up tonight at 6:00, choline's coworkers talk to us about what made her reporting stand out.
