>> we're heartbroken about this sense little act of violence. we are so thankful for the quick response by law enforcement and school employees. >> investigators have not shed any light on if those three were the targetses. the jury has reached a verdict for a driver who hit and killed a cadet with the colorado state patrol and seriously injured a trooper. christopher gebers guilty on 14 count, including first degree murder for the death of cadet taylortivo a year and a half ago. we heard from the cadet's mother. >> reporter: it was very emotional. this day has been a long time coming for the family and law enforcement.

back >> reporter: he says his recovering is going well. a big part of that is being able to be back here on the field with his players. he says it's therapeutic. he does remember getting on the bus that day. he remembers waking up in the er but does not remember much if anything in between. he suffered facial fractures and a concussion in the crash. and for the first time in three weeks is healthy enough to return to the field coaching a day and he will coach friday's game against overland. he thanked the community for their support. >> ultimately it was about our kids. how our kids after the fact. who was injured, where were we, and ultimately what was

>> reporter: cary chopper was driving the bus, killed in the crash. investigators are waiting on the results of her autopsy hoping it provides some clues as to what happened that day. an update on the 16-year-old boy accused of attacking a 71-year-old woman in her home in boulder county. this young man now charged as an adult. jeffrey collins was in attempted first degree murder and assault on an at risk adult earlier in month. the 71-year-old victim picked up collins and two of his pals hitchhiking along left-hand canyon road. she brought them home to wait for their ride when collins beat her. more resources added to the search for a marine veteran who's been missing for more than a week now in colorado's high country. david cook from albuquerque new mexico is

a couple scattered showers up to the north there. they kind of end. and then we see just the clouds move in. tomorrow, thursday, some showers. just to the front range, don't make it over. but the clouds do. partly cloudy skies. and by friday, 4:00, showers here. by 8:00, a line of showers. and saturday morning, back with partly sunny skies, a couple of scattered showers, shoermentz over the mountains -- showers and thunderstorms over the mountains. low pressure syste thunderstorms there. some along the frontal system to the gulf coastal area. there is that low pressure system for us. and a cool front holding both of these in place. and we're gonna be tomorrow much like we were today. we are watching tropical storm matthew. winds 60 miles an hour right now, moving west at 18 miles an hour. a hard right over eastern cuba then head toward the u.s. other hurricanes have taken this route and slammed into the united states.
