flames came dangerously close to their home. >> initially when you hear that, you're saying oh, it can't be that close. so i wasn't too worried about it. >> reporter: but panic set in when the family found firefighters in their backyard. >> then i came out here and i saw that it's literally like a foot away from my fence in my backyard. i was really scared. >> reporter: inside the family dog cappy home alone. the fire started 3:00 thursday near crowfoot valley road and worked its way up five homes near rain tree circle. >> with the small breeze, warm temperatures and extremely dry fuel and the slope the wildfire was able to pick up some momentum. >> reporter: but crews quickly stopped the fire in its tracks. >> i feel really blessed. colorado is a dry area and you wouldn't think that there be a fire in october, but it can happen any time anywhere. >> reporter: south metro says the fire serves as a good reminder that wildfire season can last all year long.

27th street outside of the cold crush bar. neighbors say sunday nights are out of control. >> there's always drama or fights especially on sunday nights. most of the time you can't even get to the alley. i have a hard time trying to get into my property to park. >> reporter: several people told us denver officers do provide security at the bar, but this week the city decided to shut down the bar. it suspended their liquor license and could start a nuisance abatement case. >> to hear it was closed, it was heart breaking. >> reporter: laney hodges said this place is just like her home. >> i know that i can come to cold crush and find people that appreciate diversity and social justice. >> reporter: the city says it's a public health risk letting the bar stay open. >> i think there is a sense that there might be some targeting going on because it is a black owned business and because there tend to be black patrons here. >> reporter: the city says it's looking into cases of disruptive and illegal activities. >> it would be sad to see it go

sentence, 28-year-old timothy chavez is on the run. he was tried and convicted of sexually assaulting a teenage girl. according to court records, the incident happened in january of 2015 while chavez was working at a westminster restaurant. his victim was a 16-year-old co- worker. the report says after only working with the girl twice he followed her outside during a smoke break. he would eventually push her into an enclosed dumpster area and sexual assault the young and set to be sentenced in early august, but police say he never showed up to court. he was already a registered sex oftener when the attack happened making this his -- offender when the attack happened making this his second assault on a child increasing the number of years he's looking at. he's wanted on a nationwide warrant and should be considered dangerous. if you see chavez or might know where he is, you're asked to

reach out to the denver crime stoppers and remain anonymous. you could also receive a reward. a troubling story in boulder, the investigation into a student suicide led investigators to a facebook group for nazis. you talked to one of the teens who was expelled from school because of this, lauren. >> reporter: he his fellow group member's suicide was a result of depression and not any allegiance to nazi views as suggested by police. he also says no one meant anything that was posted in the chat. do you think it's okay to joke about killing people based on the color of their skin or -- >> no. i don't think it's funny. i turned off notifications from the klatt -- chat so i didn't have to read the things that

said the derogatory comments posted in a facebook group called the 4th reich were never meant to be taken seriously. >> it was wrong to let it get that far. they were saying things i get they were just abusing it like saying we can joke about it. >> reporter: reynolds said the joke was started by a fellow student or friend of his and lasted one or two days. though reynolds said he did not contribute racist comments to the chat, he was one of five students expelled for involvement. he chat who asked to remain anonymous wrote cbs4 saying in part, "i want to make it clear no one in the commune was at risk. on behalf of everyone -- community was at risk. on behalf of everyone in the group sorry who everyone this may have bothered or affected." reynolds tells me that he is now the target of threats on facebook for his role in in group. he also says that if he -- in this group. he also says that if he could go back and do it directly, he
