,, campaign 2016 tops the news as early voting pollings stations open in colorado. i'm britt moreno. thank you for joining us. coloradans received mail ballots last week but starting today, they can cast ballots in person. it comes as the new round of polls gives democrat hillary clinton a wider margin. a cbs news poll battleground poll that is gives clinton a three point lead over

that's within the margin offeror and this as a pole is from texas -- poll is from texas. trump is winning there but only by three points and texas is a state that votes republicans by wider margin. those numbers have prompted hillary clinton and the democrats toothiest focus. -- shift focus. cbs' craig boswell explains. >> reporter: hillary clinton heads north to new hampshire monday afternoon. the democratic leaning state is likely to vote for clinton. but it's also home to a tight senate race between democratic governor republican senator kelly aiott. the clinton campaign feels comfortable because recent polls show the numbers over trump expanding. >> up a over the country i'm going to tell you we are seeing evidence this could be a very big and historic win for hillary clinton. >> reporter: trump's biggest problem in the polls is the gender january. the abc news -- gap. the abc news poll released sunday thoughs trump -- shows trump with a 0 point deficit -- 20 point deficit for female

and assume that most people will be doing. but if you want to vote in person like some people still do, here's what you can expect to see in arapahoe county. you can connect with one of these very nice election and registration judges. they'll help you either register if that's what you need to do or you can pick up a paper ballot. you also have the option of coming over here to these tablets, these are the new spiffy tablets you can file out your -- fill out your ballot via the electronic tablets. this is a really efficient way. you print it out and ju it in a drop box. they think that voting in general will take up to as much as 15 minutes. please come prepared to fill out the ballot. in the 2012 presidential election, the lines were earn person voting -- for in person voting were out the door herement election officials hoping that's not going to be the case with the mail-in bottoms but i -- wait a minutes but i -- ballots but you might

but there are tools online. >> we did see lines in 2012 and we're hoping that will not be the case this year. obviously with any election, you learn a few things. you learn how to best manage the lines a little bit petter. how -- better. how to keep that flow of voters going just a little bit quicker and we implemented a couple of tools on the website so that they can have nearly the realtime wait time indicators to take a look. take a peek on election day at the wait times is what we entourage. >> reporte coming and voting in person. if do you that, there are 64 counties that have opened this morning with early in person voting. definitely take advantage of that. you can register through election today to vote. so far, 9,000 people have taken advantage of the many ways to vote and cast their ballot in colorado. live in arapahoe county, jamie leary, cbs4 news. >> i have a feeling that place will be hopping later on. thank you so much for that. and we have a development in colorado's ban on taking

who fled in 2014 with the other residents. it used to be beautiful here he told us. now look at it. the streets still ring out with gunfire. in some places, isis has used tunnel networks to launch surprise attacks. even after iraqi forces think they're in control. local christian militiamen have atried to help help secure the town. one of them is a man who used to be a security guard and told us he kissed the ground when he returned the night before. thank god we're back he told us. holly williams, cbs news, northern iraq. new developments in the deadly shooting of a teenaged boy earlier this month on high street. the suspect made his first appearance in court this morning. 15-year-old kelan mosley died after being shot in a backyard. police think keith hammock shot that teenager from a second story window. there was an illegal outdoor marijuana grow in the backyard. hammock faces charges of first degree murder and charges related prosecutors say hammock is accused in a similar incident last year. he's being held right now without bond. happening now, police in aurora are sorting through a shooterring that left a man -- shooting that left a man dead on a street in a neighborhood southeast of i-70 and i-225. neighbors say circumstances were bizarre. one person who didn't want to be identified says the man walked into his home before the shooting. >> he came inside our house and he stepped over where the doorstep is.

we went up to him and we asked him you know what are you doing here? he was like i think i'm in the wrong place but he wasn't being very responsive. >> we're also told the man appeared to reach into his waistband before the shooting. police have released the shooter from custody. neighbors think the man may have been on drugs but so far, we haven't heard on that from police. denver police are searching for suspects in a deadly shooting in green valley ranch. the 4700 block of ireland court secure this morning some 24 hours later. police found the man with multiple gunshot wounds when they arrived at the scene. about 6:00 yesterday morning. officer went door to door to get information but they have not released anything about the victim nor on the suspect. they do believe the victim lived in that home where he was found. federal investigators are on the scene of a deadly bus crash in southern california.

semi. the violent impact left the bus actually jammed 15 feet into the trailer. 44 people were on board and most of those who died were in the front of the bus. the semidriver survived and a taxi driver says he shot a cell phone interview with someone when he picked up the driver from a hospital. >> i didn't hear nothing coming i just -- the impact that is you know hit me from behind. and i >> police don't know the exact speeds of the hicles but say the bus was going significantly faster than the truck when it plowed into the trailer. that bus did pass a safety inspection in april. police are having a problem identifying all of the victims because all of the ids found at the scene are not valid. the roads are open after a crash in awe avenue this morning. it happened -- in aurora this morning. it happened around 9:0 in the morning. a truck hauling dumpsters kind

our way. but we are going to see the jet stream skirt just over colorado. high pressure is still building to the south of that. so for the most part we're fairly dry but there's an area of low pressure that will skirt along that jet stream and bring us the chance for a little bit of moisture into colorado. but for the most part, the front range eastern plains we do still stay on the dry side from this. though looking at the potential snowfall from tonight through tomorrow, there's a chance for a cup of inches mainly boffo thousand feet to the -- 10,000 feet as you head to towards the front range and our temperatures are actually going to stay much much warmer than we are -- than our average temperature. we're pretty mild for us. 11 degrees warmer in denver right now compared to yesterday and nine for greeley and eight in akron. four degrees warmer in burlington and wray. 7 # degrees here in -- 75 degrees here in denver right now and 67 in akron and 65 out in burlington and heading towards the high country, 46 in avon and it's beautiful in the mountains right now. 64 in steamboat and 70 craig and 67 over in grand junction.

looking at 77 in denver. 73 in boulder. 79 out in burlington. to the mountains lot of 50s and 60s and for the broncos game tonight. a mix of sunshine and cloud cover and kickoff temperatures will be in the mid 60s. if you are going to the game might be a sweatshirt kind of jacket night and don't need the full winter garb and then at halftime we're in the system. for the five day -- mid 60s. for the five day forecast, but don't expect much from it. and then so we get a little cooler with this little system moving through but think thursday we are back -- by thursday we're back up in the mid 70s and stay there through the rest of the week and into the weekend as well. it's a little bit mild for us and it's good we're getting a quick shot in some spots but it's not a ton for us. >> okay lauren thank you so much. good to see you if the daylight. -- in the daylight. coming up next, just how successful a marine's efforts to help everies has been? just -- efforts has been in just a matter of hours.

year. >> the studies that were done looking at the reduction and risk of sids were done throughout the first year of life and we know that reduction can be as much as 50%. >> reporter: the recommendations can continue to remind parents that babies should be on their back on a firm mattress in the crib or bassinette. dr. feldman winter says breast- feeding is also recommended. >> exclusive breast-feeding can reduce the risk of sids by >> reporter: also recommended? offer a pacifier at naps and bedtimes. and babies should get plenty of supervised awake tummy time to promote development. malia's parents are doing everything they can to keep her safe. including giving her her own space. >> never let her sleep in the same bed with us, it's just -- too dangerous. >> reporter: that way, everyone sleeps better. but only for three to four hours at a time.
