morning long. let's go to her live now. i understand this is not the teen's first run in with the law either. >> reporter: this teenager had multiple warrants out for his arrest. we do know he was doing just about everything he could to evade police and colorado state patrol. at one point this chase became so dangerous, that police had to call it off. it was just before 11:00 last night when the teen flew past a georgetown he was headed east along i-70, clocked at 110 miles per hour. the officer caught up to him only because he was slowed down by traffic. the driver pulled over, but quickly changed his mind and took off. the chase continued reaching speeds of 120 miles per hour. that's when the officer decided it was too dangerous and he had to call it off. but it didn't end there. about two minutes later the

unsuspecting state trooper in his car. >> he tried to do an amateur pit maneuver on the trooper's vehicle, crashed into his vehicle and fled past him. the driver crashed here at the 239 exit, and fled on foot. >> reporter: after a short search, officers were able to locate the suspect. he did have a few injuries so he was taken to the hospital, treated for what are minor injuries and taken into custody. the trooper whose car he hit fortunately uninjured in this incident. it's still investigation. i have a call in to georgetown police. still waiting to hear more on the suspect, more information. live on i-70 near morrison, jamie leary, cbs4 news. >> jamie thank you very much. denver police are looking for witnesses who can help them determine how a deadly accident

and clinton after 7:00 this morning. police say the woman was not in a crosswalk. the driver who hit her did stop. man accused of ambushing and killing two police officers in des moines, iowa could be charged today. now scott michael greene remains in a hospital. cbs4's danielle nottingham explains greene was no stranger to police in that area. >> reporter: police in iowa say they found evidence tying scott michael greene to the killings of two police officers. we do believable it was the firearm used in the attack. >> reporter: police say he ambushed the two officers overnight wednesday in their cars. the killings happened about 20 minutes apart, less than 2 miles from each other. greene turned himself in hours later and was taken to the hospital after saying he felt sick. greene was well nonto police in the area.

church, both times over the black lives matter banner. the church cleaned it up last year, but this time the reverend is considering leaving it. >> i think it's a reminder of the battle that still needs to be wageed. i say it's a statement we need to make as a community of faith to whomever might be interested. we live in a country where stemmatic racism has been a part of our national dna since before and yes, that has not changed. >> the church did file a police report, but the detective said it's unlikely anybody will be caught for what they did there. jefferson county is paying $2.5 million to the family of jennifer labato, who died in the county jail two years ago. an autopsy shows she died of dehydration while in custody. she was withdrawing from opioids at the time.

ignored her cry for help. she had seven children. >> there will be nothing to replace jennifer in their lives. >> there is still an ongoing federal lawsuit here against the private medical provider for the jail. county officials say her death did prompt some changes in the way jail evaluates, or the jail evaluates inmates there. denver police arrested a man accused of pointing a laser at copter 4 this morning. this happened th about 6:30 in the area near 40th and havana. the copter crew was able to help police make an arrest after reporting it. let's get to campaign 2016. polls out today show the presidential race is within the margins of error, five days out. it has the candidates focused on key states like north carolina. cbs's craig boswell explains they continue the attacks on each other. >> reporter: hillary clinton

yes, it's pleasant, but we really need the rain. this is the latest drought monitor. a week ago our drought was affecting about 65% of the state. as of this morning, that has jumped from 65% to 91% of colorado is under some stage of drought. here in the metro area, we have moderate drought. we don't want to see that get worse. we don't want to go in severe or extreme. the only way to rectify that is to get rain. last time we had rainfall, october 12th and we only had 0.01 inches. last time we had substantial rain, a month ago, about 0.10 inches. rain and snow into the state. the heavy yet southwest of the state. snowfall forecast looks like

snow level around 10,000 feet. 2to 6 inches with the highest amounts in the san juan amounts. central mountains and anything in the northern mountains probably closer to the 2-inch mark. temperatures this afternoon will be in the 60s for just about everybody. we're already into the 60s around town. we'll top out around 68 in boulder. the same in greeley this afternoon. doppler 4000 not showing anything here. to the south of us you can see where the moisture is, from arizona to ti over texas -- new mexico and especially into texas. a lot of rain making its way to the dallas area. for us, cutoff low will move to the four corners regions but it weakens. i wish it would stay the same strength it is now. it will weaken, but we'll take anything we can get. for the mountains we'll see 2 to 6inches of snow if you look at the san juans. 2to 4 for central and northern mountains, what we often like
