at some of eastern iowa's top stories -- on this morning... in iowa city, the univerisyt of iowa hospitals and clinics is making plans for a new clinic and warehouse on the southwest side of the city.the new building will sit on nearly eight acres of land on mormon trek boulevard. leaders hope to break ground next year. some of cedar rapids' favorite athletes gave back to the community. players on the cedar rapids titans football team and rampage soccer squad held a stuff the bus drive at the southwest side walmart.all of the donations will be given to way-point services. if you missed yesterday's event, there will be another stuff the bus drive on sunday. the cbs 2 news team was out ringing bells and collecting money for the salvation army thursday.the organization hopes to raise 790-thousand- dollars during this christmas season.you can donate to the red kettle campaign online and sign up to ring bells like we did. did.you'll find all the information on cbs 2 iowa dot com. the facey family in canada adopted a little boy who was born without his right hand. hand.they knew he was the one they wanted to adopt because

the grandfather of the family was born without his right hand too! too!the little boy had been passed up on adoption by other families 6 times because of it. the facey's knew it didn't matter if he was missing a hand, because the grandfather had accomplished so much. he's been in the paralympics, played soccer and been a succesful business man. man.they have a special way to say hello, they call it the "stump bump."when they first met at the airport, the little boy had never seen another had never the little boy the airport, the little boy had never seen another person who was missing a hand.the grandfather said i just stuck out my hand and reached out with his stump and he touched mine. and just like that...the stump bump was born.

new this morning out of blackhawk county, a former police chief has been arrested and is now facing two felony charges. charges.an audit of former dunkerton police chief timothy schultz says he bought gas with a city fuel credit card. the state auditor reported those purchases added up to more than 2-thousand dollars. schultz was arrested yesterday and faces a charge of theft and unauthorized use of a credit card. it's a crime you'd expect to slow down -- once the temperatures start to dip -- but this month -- one corridor city has actually seen an increase. increase.burglars have hit 67 homes across cedar rapids this month alone.in most incidents -- criminals are knocking on the front door and if no one answers -- breaking in through the back of the house.on top

the police department says a good neighbor can make all the difference. "a lot of these are happening in broad daylight and so the best deterrent, quite frankly, is to have a good set of neighbors that if they see something or hear something, that they call in." in."police are still looking for suspects in the burglaries. if you see something suspicious -- you're encouraged to call police immediately. in iowa city tomorrow, if you plan on heading to the hawkeye game, expect to see more security.sporting events world-wide are beefing up security this weekend due to those increased threats from terror groups. groups.at kinnick stadium, the university of iowa is adopting the clear bag policy that's currently being used at n-f-l games.that means only clear bags, gallon sized resealable bags and small clutch purses the size of your hand will be allowed.there will be a bag check at the recreation building from nine in the morning until an hour after the game.fans might also notice more officers and squad cars. there's a lot of international events going on,

when two men rushed up to him -- opened fire and killed him. the city of downey, california lined the streets yesterday for a large procession to honor the fallen officer. police in pennslyvania are looking for a suspect who stole a school bus, and then.. then..crashed it into a strip mall.take a look at this damage.authorities say someone stole the bus out of the school bus garage at around three thirty wednesday morning. it caused damage at two businesses, one owner says it might be a year before he'll be back open. "the kitchen wall got buckled about 18 inches. the hood over top of the cooking equipment, it looked like it was moved. the ceiling tiles moved. the front counter where the cash registers are got knocked about 18 inches away from the wall. i was kind of hoping that some of his teeth were stuck to the steering wheel of the bus." bus."after the crash, the suspect ran off.police don't believe he tried to rob any of the businesses.they're currently reviewing surviellence video trying to identify who it could be.

pitchman jared fogle was sentenced to more than 15 years and 8 months in federal prison. prison.the 38-year old pleaded guilty to charges of child pornography and crossing state lines to pay for sex with minors -- some as young as 16 years old.fogle has paid 1-point-4 million dollars in restitution to 14 different victims.the sentence was harsher than the 12 and a half years requested by federal prosecutors.fogle worked for subway for 16 years.the company fired him once the charges were filed this year. the coast guard in san diego has taken more than 50- thousand pounds of illegal drugs coming from latin america in just the past four months alone.on thursday -- officials were offloading more than 25 tons of cocaine from one ship.officials say the increase comes after having their budget restored. good morning again, thanks for waking up with cbs 2 this morning...it's right now on this morning!

snow hasn't even started falling yet, but the coming storm has already made an impact.state athletic officials postponed the state football championship games tonight in cedar falls. falls.they say they want to keep the thousands of fans and players safe by keeping them *off* the roads.regina -- mount vernon and cedar rapids kennedy were all scheduled to play.the three games will now be played monday -- a live stream will be availble -- but no television broadcast. tickets for friday will be honored on monday. when the snow does start flying you'll notice some changes to state snow plows. plows.as cbs 2 news first told you last month, the d-o-t is installing blue and white rear-facing lights to plows across the state.the changes are part of a pilot program to distinguish the trucks - and limit collisions.state lawmakers approved the program during the legislative session.

the president shouldn't have the authority on refugees in the first place. congressman dave loebsack broke with democrats and voted *for* the bill.he says he still wants to bring thousands of refugees to the u-s but said quote "we must work together to make sure our screening processes are strong and effective so we can welcome those who are truly seeking safety." on the campaign trail, trail,debate continues over security in the united states after the paris attacks killed 129 people. people.in between campaign events in newton last night -- presidential candidate donald trump said he'd support creating a mandatory database to track muslims in the u-s. trump has also talked about the need for increasing surveillance and potentially closing mosques. republican rick satorum was in eastern iowa campaigning yesterday.he said at an event in dewitt he also does not want syrian refugees to migrate to the country. santorum said he thought early on accepting syrian migrants was a bad idea.on the democratic side -- front runner hillary clinton said on thursday she believes the
