its belt and making cuts to services. services.library supporters were hoping voters would approve a 27-cent tax levy to keep the library fully funded, but the measure failed in november.to make up the nearly half million dollar budget shortfall, managers at the library tell cbs 2 news it will now be closing at eight-pm during the week.e ladd library will be closed on saturdays and the downtown library closed on sundays.additional cuts to services, programs and staff could also be coming.the changes will now go to the cedar rapids city council for approval. in iowa city, the university of iowa is settling a lawsuit with a foer football player who was one of 1players hospitalized after an intense workout in 2011. 2011.william lowe sued the university, claiming a workout program caused the serious illness.the suit accused coaches and trainene of fafaing to operly supervise the work out or provide medical care to players who

settlement were not released. since the incident, coaches have eliminatededhe program in queseson. an ambush on a philadelphia police officer is being inveigated as a hit. the officer was shot several times last night and officials now say it was an attempted execution. officer jessie hartnett was patroling a neighborhood when the suspect began firing into the drivivside window at close range.officer hartnett survived the shooting and returned fire, hitting the attacker. sources tell s news the suspuct admitted to opening fire in the name of islam. two men are in custody, accused of having ties to terrorist groups.one suspect was arrested in california, and is beleived to have fought for isis in syria before returning to the u-s s st year. the other suspect was caught in texas.he's accused of providing support to isis.both men are iraqi refugees, and allegedly communated with
