nowto explain some of the work happening right now in cedar rapids. rapids.kelly, i'm here at first avenue, where there is more road construction going on as we speak. speak.although construction is a problem for most drivers, the city of cedar rapids has tried to make it as painless as possible.right now, the public works department has managed to keep at least one lane open in the north and southbound lanes of first avenue.city crews are doing their best to minimize interfering with local businesses by not blocking off businesses with construction. now this road construction is important because the city is replacing the sanitary pipe that was ruined by the floods in 2008.i spoke with people from cedar rapids public works about traffic flow and why all of this construction is necessary right now. "we're trying to eliminate as much impact on the traveling public as much as possible by reducing lanes and not closing roads."

and a now former member are suing the estate of francis "gus" glaser for emotional distress.glaser, a former maqouketa city manager, shot himself after first shooting at the jackson county assessor in september 20-14.this all happened while a board meeting was wrapping up at the county courthouse.a trial scheduling conference for the lawsuits takes place tuesday. now a cbs 2 news follow up to a police shooting death in burlington last year. year.the iowa public information board is now seeking a lawyer to prosecute three agencies for violating open records laws in the case. case.the iowa department of public safety, the des moines county attorney's office and the burlington police department are all named in complaints for not releasing the full police video and other records in the death of autumn steele. steele.last january - a burlington police officer shot and killed steele while responding to a domestic dispute.the officer was not charged and remained on the job. corridor voters have a lot to

"your voice, your future: the iowa impact" town hall event in iowa city. city.cbs 2 brought together both state party chairs and two political science professors to talk about the state of the iowa caucuses. caucuses.part of the conversation had to do how other states have said they want to be first in the nation - but our party chairs say that comes with not only the responsibility to vet candidates, but also all the political mail and nasty ads that go with it. but iowa is also the perfect size where candidates can get a lot of face time - one on one with candidates the parties say that makes all the difference. if we started with california, or if we started with new york, we'd start with about three or four candidates, that either had national name recognition or super pacs that had hundreds of millions of dollars. if we really believe what we're telling our kids in a junior high government class that you can become president some day, you got to start in a place like iowa. iowa.i think this is a great place that we have here to do this, we take it very seriously, as jeff said, it's

a university of virginia student has been arrested in north korea for what are being called "hostile" acts.tina kraus has the latest. latest. ats up....nk tv (announcement /then facebook photo)north korean state media announced the arrest of us student otto warmbier - and said he is accused of plotting to destroy north korean unity.
