we have the latest live. it is a beautiful day. hard to forget that yesterday was halloween. today is november 1st. take a look at the temperatures the last few hours. hard to believe we are where we are. 65 degrees at 10:00. just one tick away from the 70s. plenty of sunshine. on the board. iowa city, 73. the wind has turned north at 5- 10. still warming. take a look at the satellite radar. the clouds we are seeing are thin high-level clouds. not keeping us from a lot of sunshine. a nice quiet day. partly to mostly cloudy night tonight. are chances moving in later tonight. and into the overnight. starting in southern iowa and becoming more widespread as we go through the overnight hours. we will talk more about that

i will let you know how warm it will stay. seventys today. until you see where we are the rest of the week and the weekend. in about ten minutes, i will have the full forecast. right now cbs2 continues to follow the breaking news this morning. a routine traffic stop in cedar rapids turned violent. at the coe college campus. stephanie johnson has been on the scene since 2:00 a.m. this morning bringing you the latest information. and you are alive again now. what is happening now? >> reporter: jenee, the entrance to coe college is blocked off while police are continuing their investigation. take a look behind me. you can see the suspect vehicle right behind me. it crashed into one car and impacted three other cars. further down the road, you will

this is the entrance to coe college. still blocked after a routine traffic stop turned into an officer involved shooting and a car accident. right now the iowa division of criminal investigation is investigating this incident. it all started on centerpoint road and e avenue around 1:15 a.m. this morning when a police officer pulled over the suspect. an altercation broke out between the two. when the suspect attacked the officer. the cop then shot at the suspect who jumped back in his car and fled the scene. he went southbnd first avenue and t-boned an unmarked police vehicle and hit a parked car. the officer in the unmarked car had to be extracted from the vehicle. but he is recovering with non- life-threatening injuries. the suspect is that university of iowa hospital with life-threatening injuries. the identity of the suspect has not been released. police are waiting to contact

centerpoint road and e avenue will remain closed while police continue the investigation into this incident. covering the corridor, stephanie johnson, back to you. around the same time around 1:30 a.m. this morning, police arrived to rolling street southwest on reports of a car versus train crash. it appeared the train hit the cadillac on the tracks. police tell cbs2 news that it seems the driver tried to get around the train when they were hit. witnesses say the train slowly backing up at the time. police confirmed that the driver was not seriously hurt nor was a 23-year-old passenger. the driver was cited for not yielding to a train. overnight as well, firefighters arrived to a car that crashed into a tree at wiley boulevard and first avenue. they pulled out at least two victims from the suv.

both victims have life- threatening injuries. cbs2 news did speak with witnesses on the scene. >> there was already a firefighter there. he said he was a firefighter. he was trying to see if she was all right. >> so far, no names have been released in this crash yet. new details on breaking news we brought you this morning. at least a 60 villard at after a school bus and commuter bus crash. this is video from the horrific scene in baltimore, maryland. in addition to the six dead, ten more people were rushed to the hospital with injuries ranging from minor to clinical. no kids on the school bus at the time. the driver was one of those who died. investigators say the bus struck the rear of the mustang and then hit a concrete pillar. and then drove into oncoming traffic. that is when the school bus had the transit bus. after all of that, no identities have been released

today president barack obama approved a major disaster declaration for 19 iowa county stick this in response to flood 2016 in september and october. a declaration next federal money available on a state, local and nonprofit level. for help with emergency work, repair and replacement from any storm damage. the federal emergency management agency also says more money be -- at a later date if approved. this morning, back in johnson county jail nine months after being released. lola pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide three years ago for running over pamela gross with a pickup truck. police say she and gross got into a fight for the deadly

drink at a nearby bar. she was sentenced to 25 years in prison but released after only serving just over two. according to police reports, she violated parole last month and is being held on a $25,000 bond. throughout the 2016 election, the presidential campaign made several stops in iowa. now we learned on wednesday that house speaker paul ryan visits waterloo. he comes in support of representative rod blanc. he is fighting for reelection in the first congressional district of iowa against monica vernon. as a new congressman, his first vote in house was to get rid of also -on democratic vice presidential candidate tim kaine and former president bill clinton are both stopping in iowa.kaine will attend a "get out and vote event" in dubuque. president clinton will make stops in sioux city and waterloo. then - they both will meet up in des moines for an event in des moines. only a week to the presidential election and the race is tightening once again. this - in light of an announcement made on friday by the f-b-i that hillary clinton's emails are once

national correspondent all of this is in light of the announcement made friday by the fbi that hillary clinton's e- mails are once again under investigation. our national correspondent connects all of the dots for us now. and the major players in the latest news. >> former new york congressman anthony weiner again making headlines for this time, for his computer, sees and an investigation launched by the fbi into allegations that anthony with an underage girl. now separated, anthony weiner and his wife, huma abedin, were married for 16 years. huma abedin is hillary clinton's top eight. e-mails on the computer prompted the fbi to notify congress about the new investigation being opened. >> they are looking into exactly if these e-mails are related to hillary and if there is any classified material that was on the devices that they seized.

relationship between the fbi and the department of justice. located right across the street from one another, they are in some ways now, a house divided. >> critics say james comey violated a long-standing policy not to do anything that could influence an election within 16 days of the election. >> the department and the fbi have strict rules on and they can comment about ongoing cases. director james comey violated those rules. >> many wondering just what affect the fbi news will have on the election many say it will more likely impact other races. >> democrats may not get the senate -- it will narrow the margin for hillary. >> and abc news washington post poll shows 34% of those surveyed will be less likely to vote for her. a tightening race in what has been an october full of surprises.

69 degrees. north wind at eight. it feels like 69. humidity, 70%. let's take a look at numbers on the map. what a cello, 68. iowa city, 73. dubuque, 66. waterloo, 62. trendy, low 60s. wind was starting out in the south. now the north. 4-8 miles per hour. temperatures on the board. here is the highest. there is the current numbers. a high of 71 in dubuque. upper 60s around decorah. burlington, 70s. des moines, 70s. there is cloud cover moving through the states. let's go to the surface map. area of low pressure will move through the state. that will bring cloud cover and moisture as we go through the late evening and overnight.

now, oreos is recalling its fudge cream cookies. this is what they look like. the fda says they have a milk allergen not listed in the ingredients. they are recalling the original flavors. it doesn't sound like anything is wrong or hurtful in them unless you are allergic to milk. there is a shows many people looking for new homes cannot make up their minds whether to buy or rent. a new study says nearly 60% of people that rent considered buying their next home. but on the flipside, 52% of buyers considered renting their next home. it is pretty even. the study also found that half of all buyers are under the age of 36.
