wrong with the car. >> just like lost everything for me, yeah. i not just lost my husband. i lost my best friend. >> reporter: in the two and a half weeks since he died she was devastated but trying to remain strong for her childre. >> i try not to cry in front of my child because they feel afraid. >> reporter: the family tells me they were surprised when tesla released the statement one week after the crash that he was using autopilot but his hands were off the steering wheel. >> it took him out of the lane he was driving in and steered him into the gore point which means drove him straight at a fixed concrete barrier at a high rate of speed and failed to

facebook's mark zuckerberg was grilled by senators from both parties. lawmakers asked why facebook didn't act sooner to notify users of a privacy breach. zuckerberg himself acknowledged he has privacy limits. >> reporter: the focus of the hearing is privacy. mr. zuckerberg would you be comfortable sharing the name of the hotel you were staying at last night? >> no. >> reporter: taking question after question. california senator harris quizzed zuckerberg. about 87 million user after some of them had taken an online quiz. >> in retrospect we clearly view it as a mistake. and we thought the case was closed and the data had been deleted. >> so there was a decision made

a california family on a road trip to the bay area but never made it here. and this river may be the last clue to their whereabouts. it is where a witness saw a car like the one the family was driving plunge into the water. >> reporter: tonight, a southern california family remains missing. >> they were just going on a road trip and they were very excited, very excited to do the oregon trail. >> reporter: this flier shown on social media showed the family was driving back from portland

oregon. relatives became concerned when they couldn't reach the family y and called san jose police to file a missing person's report. the family was traveling in a maroon honda pilot. possibilities that the family may have plunged into the river. a witness called chp that he saw a vehicle go down a steep embankment. the description was similar to the one the family was driving in. >> given the weather today, there has not been the ability to do fly and mendocino county sheriff has been. >> reporter: nor have divers gone in because of the debris as

well as the rate of the current. in the south bay, chris nguyen, abc7 news. this teenager awaiting a court date for allegedly stealing a laptop. 18-year-old paris williams grabbed the laptop. and witnesses caught up with him and held him down until the police arrived. today marks the anniversary of an unsolved murder. he was shot and killed. despite repeated pleas for help in the case including a security video of a person of interest and a car seen in the area at the time, the case remains a mystery. a $30,000 reward offered for information leading to arrest

and conviction. california is the sole hold out state, a spokesperson for the california national guard told abc7 news today saying brown is still considering president's request. texas, arizona, have announced they are sending a combined total troops. two more cities in orange county are continuing resolution supporting a lawsuit challenging the california. the city of orange and newport beach. there are mixed opinions with some arguing the sanctuary law is bad for community safety.

training in san juan and hurricane. it she decided to write a letter to the director of the san francisco school. she had done a four-week intensive program at the san francisco ballet the summer before. would they now accept her at thh school? she was offered a spot. >> not something you can do one day and take a week off. >> i was like, mom, i got in. i was like i started crying. may mom started crying. >> reporter: she received a scholarship from the ballet. her entire community, even a puerto rican actress helped to pitch in for her room and board.
