was going to bite me. i saw it coming at a distance smiling and i thought it was friendly. it came and it was running really fast. i was like whoa. >> only on abc 7 news. a teenager is talking about his terrifying face-to-face encounter with the pit bull. thanks for joining us. that attack happened last night in san francisco's bayview neighborhood and there is urgency tonight to find the dog who did this. kate larson joins us from the newsroom with the story you will see only on abc 7 news. kate? >> it's very penitentiary to find the dog and its owner to make sure the dog doesn't attack anyone else and make sure the two boys who were attacked receive potentially life-saving treatment. the dog who attacked him was by

itself on the street last night with no leash or collar. a warning, some may consider the images in this story graphic. >> here almost took off my pinky and wouldn't let go. >> hooked up to an iv and morphine, luis describes getting attacked by a dog saturday night while walking near oak dale avenue in bayview. >> it came rushing at me and bit me and it was the worst pain i ever had. >> after getting bitten, he was able to escape into his friend's house and was rushed to the hospital. his friends said he saw the dog before. >> the big face and people call it chop. people say that it's a person's dog up the street. >> someone could come forward and let us know where we can find the dog. >> like any mother, she doesn't want to see her son in pain. luis had surgery to clean the

wounds all over his body. if they don't find the dog quickly. >> we want to observe the dogs for 10 years and make sure the dog doesn't have raineys. my son has to go through pain again if we don't know if the dog has raineys. the doctor is one of the doctors treating luis. >> it's treating patients before they have symptoms. >> the dog also bit luis's friend trying to help him. police are investigating. abc 7 news. >> a manhunt is still under way in tennessee tonight. police are looking for a man suspected of shooting four people to death in a waffle house restaurant. officers fear he might still be armed. richard cantu has more. >> a manhunt for the gunman who

opened fire in antioch, tennessee. >> somebody is shot. >> dozens of customers were in this waffle house when 29-year-old travis reinking began shooting. >> this guy in a pick up pulled up and gets out of his vehicle wearing nothing but a jacket and shot some guy at the door. >> he then went inside firing round after round from this ar 15. when he paused to reload, the customer wrestled the weapon away, burning his hand on the barrel of the gun and being hailed a hero. >> i'm not a hero. i'm just a regular person. i think -- >> disarmed the suspect took off, triggering the massive search. they are using search dogs and combing true the areas. his jacket was loaded with two more magazines. >> he clearly came armed with a

lot of firepower intending to devastate the south nashville area. >> rirchging was no stranger to authorities. in 2017 he was arrested by the secret service in a restricted area of the white house. during that investigation they seized four firearms including the one he allegedly used. the guns were returned to his father. >> he was allowed to do that after he assures deputies that he would keep them secure and away from travis. >> police now fearing reinking may still be armed. abc news, new york. >> new details about a woman killed when flame raced through her home in the sunset district. relatives identified her as jessica castro who was a survivor of domestic violence and encouraged women to escape abusive relationships. her grandson visited tonight. >> my grandmother is not here

anymore. she is in a better place now. and we will all miss her. >> heart breaking. abc 7's cornell berred in an told us more about the tragedy. >> flame lit up the night sky at a fire at this apartment building. he tried to help his neighbor escape. >> she was standing by the doorway yelling for water. i called 911 and that's the last time i saw her. >> everybody is hurting in the family. >> garcia is remembering his beloved aunt and identifies her as jessica castro. >> the whole neighborhood liked her. she was always going around the neighborhood and talking to everyone. she's an outgoing person. >> the fast moving fire claimed her life and quickly engulfed the building with smoke and flames and firefighters attacked from all sides. that wasn't easy. a steep ravine on the back side created a challenge.

>> we ended up having to go into the exposure buildings to attack the fire because there was no way to get in because it is below grade. >> when they opened the door, if you have seen lord of the rings t looked like fire erupted through the door. >> the building is red tagged and two homes were heavily damaged. a familiar face on the block is now missing. >> we all knew her. she was a spry little old ladies in her mid-to late 70s. >> one neighbor thanked firefighters for saving surrounding homes. abc 7 news. >> two people died in union city when a tow truck crashed into a sedan late this afternoon at mission boulevard and lafayette avenue. a passenger died at the scene and the driver died at the hospital. the tow truck driver was not seriously hurt and is working with authorities. firefighters had pg&e shut

down the power grid because of a serious crash. a driver went off the road at camino el lago in atherton earlier this morning. live electrical wires fell on to the vehicle. it's very unusual to shut off the grid, but pg&e crews couldn't get there in time to safely remove the people. a driver and passenger were taken to the hospital and their conditions are not known at this time. pg&e has not commented. >> supporters of a filipino peace advocate are holding ang g rally. abc 7's lillian kim has the story. >> the story of an advocate denied entry has mobilized the local community and beyond. he recounted his sfo experience. >> it was worse than i imagined and thinking about a 25-year-old man coming here and by churches

and congressional leaders to share stories of human rights violations and becoming the victim of human rights violations here in the united states. >> she arrived here tuesday evening. sent back home to the philippines wednesday morning. he said he was repeatedly accused of being a terrorist and ordered to strip naked and after 24 hours was finally offered food because pork because of his muslim beliefs. >> he is treated as an enemy combatant and accused him as being a terrorist. >> a spokesperson said u.s. customs and border protect treat all travelers with integrity, respect and according to law. allegations of torture and religious discrimination are false. the he said the government is covering up for the officers.

a memorial service took place tonight for the women who was killed on the southwest airlines flight in her hometown of albuquerque, new mexico. ♪ >> riordan's death prompted federal regulators to require airlines to inspect the engine that failed on her tragic flight. tonight that is delaying air travelers across america.

>> tonight the emergency inspections over the deadly southwest airlines are impacting thousands of passengers. >> they're tell us that there has been a change of plans and that they will inspect the engine. >> those inspections canceled nearly 50 flights today and at least 90 for tomorrow. more than 700 flights delayed. the airlines wouldn't say how many are related to the inspection. they started on tuesday when a broken fan blade caused an engine to explode, killing a passenger. one man was forced off his flight and hold it needed to be inspected. >> we're appreciating they are trying to inspect things. >> more travel problems after the rare emergency directive requiring all airlines to

oh, boy, talk about a fight with your parents escalating quickly. a 12-year-old stole his mom's credit card and went on a solo vacation. he purchased a four-day get to bali. he went all out. he convinced his grandmother to give him his passport. when he landed in bali, he went to his room at the four-star all scien seasons hotel. he stayed there for the four nights and the thrilled mom flew to bali to retrieve him. no word on how long he is grounded for. i don't understand how -- so many questions. >> he's grounded at the four seasons. >> room service, please!

once again, good evening. in tonight's headlines, a teen boy is recovering after surgery to clean up several dog bite wounds. a pit bull attacked him in san francisco's bayview district. doctors want to know if the dog had rabies. they are still looking for the animal. family and friends remember a woman who died when fire raced through her home in san francisco. they found her after a fir broke out at an apartment building. they are still looking for a cause. police in tennessee are searching for a man suspected in a deadly shooting rampage. they believe he hilled four
