news to build a better bay area. this is abc 7 mornings. goo l's startwith quick loor and the the rain comg today. here is lisa argen. >> good morning, liz. and live doppler 7 has us painted with a lot of clouds. helping to mitigate the frosty temperatures of late. but we are looking at a system connected all the way to the hawaiian islands. it's a atmospheric river with a strong area of low pressure there spinning. it's a 2 on the storm impact scale. it brings the wind first then the rain. and the wind will be very gusty from san francisco all across the shoreline. it will be breezy in the hills and the rain coming down heavy by this afternoon into the evening hours. and the overnight hours.

on the go. developing news in fremont. a driver hit and killed a woman and her dog. it happened around 8:30 last night on niles boulevard and linda drive. police say the driver stopped, walked over to the woman then got back no his car and drove away. the car involved is a light colored 5 no details released. and t fired near a high school championship football game. witnesses reported hearing the gunfire last night right after the game ended at the sacramento city college stadium np no one with was hurt high pressure they located the shots two blocks south of the college campus. no word on suspects. and residents in the san francisco neighborhood are addressing the damage after three separate water main breaks flooded their homes thanksgiving night. the water mains burst at around 9:30 thursday night, all three of them running along 22nd

public power safety shut office. the official cause hasn't been determined. fremont police arrested five suspects in connection with the shooting outside the target store. stooif was over the fremont store where security guards confronted four adults in late teens and one juvenile around 11:30 p.m. accuse the of stealing items including video games. one suspect fired multiple shots in the air as a get away car pulled up. the five jumped in and took off. the patrol vehicle -- a patrol officer speedy trial spotted the vehicle a mile away. short chase ensued ending in newark where the group was arrested. thankfully no one hurt. and in san francisco the christmas tree was let lit up in union square last night so pretty. but city leaders were hoping that people wait to see the tree today so they could participate in small business saturday. abc 7 news reporter luz pena spoke to several small business owners about what they are doing to attract shop zbleers small

season, it continues for paradise high school football. today the team will play in the northern section division three championship game against sutter high school. this is an incredible year for the bobcats they had forfeit last season after the campfire with the town reside most players traveling 40 minutes to practice. process a amazingly paradise has gone undefeated. the championship game played at river valley high school in yauba step. you can't help but want to root for them. this has been called the card board economy. one that really heats up around the holidays. the number of packages shipped each year in the u.s. is approaching 200 billion. abc 7 news reporter laura anting liny looks at morin county looking how to reuse boxes specifically the ones arriving from amazon. >> 'tis the season for card board. and lots of it. the kind generated by all that holiday online shopping in the

friday shoppers we talked with said they do feel guilty about all the packaging that comes with the online deliveries. >> what are you doing with the box. >> i'm actually going to cut it up and use it for another package i'm mailing to support the package. so a little bit of recycling there. >> abc 7 news was unable to reach amazon for comment on the marin initiative. but the company claims to have dramatically cut use of packaging over the past decade. by some 250 million tons. in marin county, laura anthony, abc 7 news. on the peninsula, donations are needed for towels for low income seniors in san mateo county. drop office will be accepted from 1:00 until 4:00 this afternoon at stamp bar & grill in laurel on in is a sand carlos. the non-profit fund a need is organizing the donation. helping senior living below the poverty level. saying a clean towel is crucial for seniors because germs and bacteria spread more easily through old towels.

started the day after 9/11 when an employee at san jose brought his therapy dog into work. and he was able to see that day how his dog was able to relieve passenger jitters and anxieties. >> this is banga, a shiatsu mix. she has been doing therapy work about five years and she has been at sfo about three. the amount of people i see cry over the dogs is pretty incredible. a lot of passengers are missing their animals when they're out traveling. it provides a bit of comfort. parents like to have kids play with the dogs for a little bit and that gives them a breck. because traveling is stressful. >> liulu is five years old. she is a juliana pig one of the breeds for pet pigs. >> the feedback we get is superpositive. we find not everyone travels for
