the driver says he feared for his life, so he drove away, calling 911. after he drove off, he says the victim went back to the driveway where the driver's elderly stepfather was. at that point, there were some type of alleged confrontation with the victim and the shooting occurred. the driver believes the stepfather fired in self-defense. >> i was like, i don't even know him. like, i've never met him before. kumasi: the victim's second cousin also spoke with abc7news and believes his cousin was having some sort of psychotic episode. fremont police say they will release more details as the investigation continues. reggie: opening statements expected in san jose today in the federal fraud trial. elizabeth holmes' for more -- former boyfriend and business partner is charged with

defrauding investors and wire fraud. he was convicted of similar charges just two months ago. the trial is expected to last three months. kumasi: it is an anniversary that many of us would like to forget. two years ago, much of the bay area announced plans to shelter-in-place because of covid-19. that meant no more conventions. now, one county is seeing that turnaround. amy, it looks like the calendar is finally filling up again. amy: it is getting there. san francisco is getting a push to get tourist to come back in san jose. they say the downtown is still pretty quiet. the ceo of the downtown association says some businesses are closed on mondays and tuesdays because there aren't enough customers to keep them open. officials say there are some large events on the books, so they think the rebound is starting to happen, but it is going to require some

of our district suffered, for the future of public education in this community is hanging in the balance. >> i'm embarrassed that you think teachers do not deserve money because i'm assuming that none of you were able to get to the spot that you are in right now without school. >> we have had to deal with more than you have ever thought of, and now classes are being canceled. i see no point in continuing going to school if i am going to sit on the bleachers all day and do nothing. reggie: teachers want a 6% raise but the budget rejection show that would lead to a deficit by the end of the next school year. kumasi: a new study finds allergy season will start earlier and get worse, all because of climate change. researchers found different tray pollard varieties that will eventually start to overlap with each other which will lead to higher concentrations of tree pollen that threaten public health. the study found that by the end of the century, pollen season could start 40 days earlier than now, and the pollen count could increase by 250%.
