the east bay. 59 degrees in oakland and not much wind and no showers to talk about. the east bay weather headlines today, showers moved off to the east and trivalley locations like livermore may get close to 90. as you look as dublin, low to mid-70s as you take a look at oakland, highs closer to 70. no worries about showers, just a late day breeze. 75 for fairfield and pitsburg. temperatures climb into the area and temperatures as warm as near 90 around livermore by sunday. here's mike. >> the low winds and clearer conditions and good news for folks heading across the bay area bridges. we do have an issue westbound to southbound 880. there is construction blocking that ramp. southbound will get you over

there. that construction will be cleared up at southbound 880. a couple of lanes closed, but slowing south of 92. that's good news. no problems heading over. that's highway 84 to the south and the approach to the oakland area as soon as you drive off to the area as well. light volume today through the weekend. we will have more on that coming up. a warning to all atm customers. thieves are targeting atms, taking cash. two men are in custody, but there many more like them. cheryl herd has a look at how banks protect consumers. >> how many times have you dashed out of the car and left

your card behind. it happened 23 times and 23 people got ripped off. how many people pay attention to that deeping sound at the atm? it's a warning your card is waiting for you to take it. >> people tell you to be careful and go in groups, but things like going to the atm is such a daily thing. >> it's not unusual for some people to leave it behind. >> when i got my card a month ago, i forgot it. i walked away and i was like oh. i didn't get it out of the atm machine. >> these two men are under arrest for preying on people for gaining access to bank accounts because debit card users put cards in, take the cash and receipt and simply leave them behind. >> the suspects then go up to the machine and push the card back in and access whatever the limit is up to $400.

>> bank of america may be a target because the machines allow them to take cash and receipts before it gives their card back. two machines have been used for the crime. this in north berkeley and the other near the campus on telegraph and durant. >> they have taken the card that can be a debit or credit card and gone to another business, swiped the card and bought gas and food. >> bank of america officials trying to be proactive. they made the beeping sound louder so they remember to take their card and the company hired extra security. >> some may think it's a berkeley phenomenon, but it happened before. police are asking people to be careful. today in the east bay. >> one of the people linked in a bizarre web of murders will be

back in court. a 72-year-old is in jail on $2 million bail. police the bodies of his wife and her friend and dozens of jars of chemicals that could be turned into explosives. he is called a person of interest in the womens' death and trying to figure out if it's connected to the killing spree. the chp shot him when he threatened officers with a knife following a high speed chase. students, workers and steveners at uc berkeley will protest and picket in the wake of tuition hike, worker layoffs and furloughs. they will start at 6:00 at bancroft and telegraph followed by a walk out at 11:30 and a noon rally and a sit in at 5:00. in the race for mayor of oakland, one candidate owns a spending record.

good morning. oakland is 70 and fremont 72. we will look at the weather in a moment. california could have a budget by the end of the day. the deal would come after a 99-day hold out, the longest in state history. a vote is set to close a projected $18 billion deficit. no new tax or fees, but it includes 7 $1$7 $1/2 billion to welfare and other social programs. it includes an assumed $5.3

and 80s starting on saturday. >> thanks. we are one day away from the critical jobs report due out friday. the stock market near five-month highs. for more on news before the bell we turn to courtney reagan. good morning. >> good morning to you, scott. we are a bit positive after a mixed session wednesday when stocks came off the lows following a report showing a decline in payroll last month. that raises concerns that the big jobs report won't show growth. we will have to wait and see until tomorrow. asian markets fell and europe is in the red. we will get another report on jobs that measures the unemployment filings due out in about 45 minutes from now. september sales throughout the day as well. sales are expected to rise 2.1%, the 13th month of positive growth.
