coast going into the afternoon. sunshine once again and it will be a touch warmer than it was yesterday. let's get a look at forecast right now. we are seeing temperatures in the lower 60s. it's 56 degrees in the nor bay. today's forecast, a high of 85 degrees. warmer day. breezy in the peninsula. and reaching 80 degrees. east bay will be at 82 degrees in san francisco. topping out at 69. tri-valley a high of 87. it will be warming up in a few spots. the full microclimate forecast coming up in a few minutes. let's see how the roads are moving with anthony. >> good morning. police activity reported by chp on the bay bridge. keep that in mind if you are using this route. notice as we take a peek at bay bridge toll plaza we have company early for that. notice some of the lanes are starting to back up. otherwise, traffic map, not a lot happening as far as activity goes across the rest of the bay, through the altamont pass,

haywa hayward, an accident. there's police activity on the bay bridge. back to you guys. new details on an overnight stand-off in the south bay. >> early this morning in morgan hill, police arrested a known fell who had been holed up inside a home for 12 hours. it happened on manner court near dunn avenue and monterey road. officers got a tip that someone saw a known suspect in that area about 1:00 in the afternoon. he locked himself in a friend's home and wouldn't come out for 12 hours. officers evacuated the neighborhood as a precaution. just about 1:00 this morning, they got the suspect out and took him into custody. it's unclear what he was wanted for in the first place. now to an alarming sight in mountain view. police officers and the s.w.a.t. team armed with machine guns in plain view. ordered to keep the peace. it was all because of a controversial dutch politician speaking at a local hall spreading his anti-islamic views. no one was even allowed in the

parking lot because of the threats against the speaker. speaker geert wilders. hundreds attended many of whom share his message. >> an amazing speech a tremendously brave man, he's say what's plain in front of our eyes. >> it's great we can have forums and discuss topics like this safely but i don't have to agree with the opinions held. >> the tight security comes after two gunmen fired shots outside an event in texas earlier this year where a contest was held to draw the prophet muhammad. wilders spoke at that as well. a green light for sjpd to use a pilot program for drones. there is a catch. drones can own be used during hostage or search and rescue situations. the bomb squad can also use them but the drones cannot be used for surveillance.

the faa has to approve now that one-year pilot program which would start in 2017. 4:33, follow-up now, san francisco sheriff ross mirkarimi has had full driving privileges back this morning, after the dmv suspended his license back in february for not reporting a crash. the crash was minor, happened last year while mirkarimi was driving a city-owned vehicle. he did not report it to the dmv, as required. the sheriff thought his insurance company was going to handle that. mirkarimi paid all of the fees and is clear to drive. san francisco police backing down now against bicyclists in the city. they have officially called off the crackdown which started over the course of the last couple of weeks with hundreds of citations. in just two days last week, officers issued close to 200 citations to bicyclists for running stop signs and red lights and not yielding to pedestrians. last night's community meeting, police say while that crackdown might be on hold, they hope it

's back tschool timethe as happening today for many bay area students back to school time. classrooms are going to be packed as districts scramble to fill open teacher positions. >> "today in the bay's" kris sanchez live in san jose with a last-minute rush to find teachers. >> reporter: good morning to you both. i was out picking up last-minute school supplies in a couple of uniform skirts yesterday. my kids go back to school today. i'll tell you, at harried as families were out shopping last night, the school district is scrambling as well because they still have positions open here in the san jose unified school district and other districts around the bay area as well. while there will be enough students to fill the classes, there won't be enough teachers. 200 new teachers hired here at san jose unified but that's not enough. there are 12 vacancies as of

yesterday. it is a very small percentage of 1, 1700 teachers that the district has but the rub might be there is increasing demand for teachers and the positions that are open here, there are other positions in other districts as well. so it could be difficult to recruit them at this late hour. and, there are also fewer people seeking teaching credentials. add to that the fact that substitute teachers are also in short supply. for now, students may find a more crowded classroom. i know at our classroom we are seeing comibination classes perhaps because of the shortage or a teaching strategy, we won't know. i expect it to be packed at school. as a parent, i will ask you, please pay attention on the roads. kris sanchez, "today in the bay." >> that's right. so important. coming up, help us help them. make a new friend in the process. clear the shelter happens this weekend. sam and i are going to bay area

starting out the school year now as we get a look at the south bay san jose. we see it's nice and clear. look at roads, too, it's slowing as you can see in the background. right now the temperature's at 61 degrees in san jose. in the east bay, it's 61 in san francisco. 59 degrees, 69 will be the high today. in the east bay 82. peninsula, 80 degrees. 85 degrees in the south bay. so that's what people talking about, cool to start out the morning but this afternoon a touch warmer than it was yesterday. not a really dominant wind direction to start out the day but we have that onshore throw and winds won't be as strong as yesterday. at about 10 to 15 during the most breezy time of the day. at the giants game, at&t park, it will be 68 degrees. 69 degrees by the fifth inning. not much of a change by the end of the game. still in the upper 60s sway mixture of sun and clouds. area of low pressure sitting

offshore and now until thursday. it creates some cooler than average temperatures but that will change as we head into the weekend. high pressure moving in will allow heat to build. and it will be a scorcher of a weekend. get ready for this. highs in the 90s. even triple digits for the tri-valley. and by monday, still hot as we get ready to head back to school. let's see how traffic is moving with anthony. >> yes, get shorts ready. this morning we have police activity on the bay bridge, still there, on the eastbound side lane. that's the best news out of it all. unfortunate news is there was an accident and actual person in the car that got in the accident fled from police and jumped in the water below. that's why there's police activity on the bridge this morning. heads up as you get going. eastbound side direction. you may see police activity on the westbound. final stop takes us to the altamont pass, traffic is building but not bad. no accidents coming through 580.

embarcadero 69, sunset at 65. bodega bay, 64. 60s along the coast and 80s inland. walnut creek 87 degrees. livermore 88 degrees. and the warming trend will continue as we go through the week. it's going to be a hot weekend. i'll talk more about that coming up in a few minutes. right now let's see how traffic is moving with anthony. >> good morning. all morning long, we've been telling you about police activity on the bay bridge. you can see the traffic flow is moving without a problem eastbound and westbound lanes there. keep in mind more traffic starts to bill, you may encounter that. altamont pass, no problems. accident through the sunol grade on 680 and hayward, davis street but not affecting traffic all that much. it's still early. we don't have as many cars on the road. south bay, accident past this area, where you can see the camera, get past this, there's an accident but not causing slowing in san jose. back over to you. new concerns this morning in lake county as crews battle the jerusalem fire. it's more than doubled in size in the past day.

now, at 14,000 acres. also, it might merge with the almost-contained rocky fire. the jerusalem fire 5% contained. mandatory evacuations continue in the jerusalem valley as 60 homes are threatened. happening now, fogging in the east bay, crews are spraying because of renewed concerns about the west nile virus. recently, health care workers found mosquitoes that tested positive for the virus in brentwood. the fogging is only a precaution. started 20 minutes ago, wraps up around 6:30. crews are fogging the area between levy road and holland track road. a water win for the city of dub len. the dublin san ramon services district holding a celebration to mark expansion of its recycled water program. now, pipes carry recycled water all the way west of 680 to 35 different parks. roadway medians and school grounds. the new recycled water program will reportedly save 49 million
