breaking overnight with at least five weather-related deaths, four people died late monday after a tree fell on a mobile home in alabama, the authorities believe it was knocked over by a tornado. in florida, a man accidentally drowned after they found him floating next to his partially submerged car next to his trailer. in mississippi, the national weather service confirmed a tornado near mount olive and thousands lost power. flash flood warnings remain in effect from western alabama through western south carolina, and millions remain on alert for more potential thunderstorms and tornadoes. nbc's jacob rascon tracking it from dallas. >> a messy start to the new year across the country. the south pummeled by severe thunderstorms. a tornado touching down in mississippi.

multiple times witnesses say, and still managed to escape even though there's a police station just across the street. want to turn to kelly kobiya who is live in istanbul, turkey, what do we know about the investigation? >> officials have said they're close to identifying their suspect. but still no name. they do have plenty of images that they've been putting forward, including the selfie video that richard mentioned, probably the clearest picture yet of the man police believe is their suspect. also some screen grabs from security footage, and an image that we are just now seeing for the first time, an image of a man they believe is the suspect, getting out of a taxi. believed to have been taken the night of the attack. after the attack. now the deputy prime minister said yesterday that they have fingerprints, they have a very good description. but he didn't go into specifics about the extent of the manhunt
