new plan, the goal to prevent more panic and failure of more banks. but at nearly the same time that statement came out there is yet another bank that has been forced to close, signature bank in new york city. the race against the clock this weekend was to find some sort of solution for depositors at silicon valley bank who are owed billions of dollars and to have that solution before the markets open tomorrow morning experts have been clear it is highly unlikely this will turn into a major meltdown like what happened in 2008 we're going to do our best to break down what it means for your money and the economy. we have two reports beginning with george solis. >> reporter: tonight the federal government working to calm fears, announcing they will back all deposits at silicon valley bank after their historic fall customers will be able to get their money as soon asible to authorities also say they closed signature bank in new york city adding that any losses by customers will be recovered. now fears that other banks could also fall.

struggled with other lenders related to crypto it has regulators forcing it to close and all of their depositors will be made whole as well >> what does this mean for every day people out there concerned about thsavings? >> in the most basic terms it means they need not be concerned about the security in just about any bank. this program will allow banks, if they need it, to access funds that they can essentially make sure all deposits are safe out there and of course there is only really has been a question for deposits above $250,000 per account. up to $250,000 the fdic already had insurance. this is for larger accounts the catastrophic flooding along the central california coast is only getting worse tonight. a second round of heavy rain is heading for the state. a levee has also been breached and evacuations are under way, and tonight a new
