into the hot tub unnoticed. more on their near drowning experience,en and others in the valley this weekend. good morning in the valley. it is monday morning, 5:00. >> lots to talk about. it was a hot weekend. it was a dry weekend. it's going to get hotter. we have lost that monsoon moisture. that is going to keep our forecast dry. so today, we'll have to watch a few of those higher terrain spots just northeast. other than that, expecting dry conditions in the phoenix metro. we know that means that temperatures tend to go up whenever we dry out. as you are getting ready to head into work, plan on mild temperatures and dry roads. clear skies too once that sun comes up with light winds. once you are heading home, temperatures will be up above 105 in most spots with phoenix at 109. we'll talk about that hour-by-hour break-down and i'll explain the storm chances in just a few

there is nothing to complain about. you can find your spot and see it's all groan, so no delays and no crashes out there. that includes i-17. your desert drive time is about 16 minutes. as you are traveling southbound from the 101. i do want to give you a shot right near the staff right now. it looks like there is some sort of a stalled vehicle here. it is between the main line of traffic and that entrance ramp as you are trying to travel northbound on e-17 h. use a little bit of caution in that area take a look at the north valley. back at the live desk. phoenix police are looking for a driver who hit a woman who was in a wheelchair. we have learned she has died. abc 15 is live near 48th street in mcdowell. this car took off from the scene. any idea the type of vehicle they are looking for? >> you know, chris, at this point, all police know is that it is a dark-colored truck. they don't have much to go on. they have been looking on this street for parts of that truck hoping to get a better clue of

right here. police say that the woman in the wheelchair -- that is where she was when she got hit as she was trying to get up on the sidewalk. and as you can see, a car just drove by right there. you can kind of see how close that is to the bike lane. that driver left that woman for basically dead in the street right here. a driver came up on this crash. they actually blocked the street so she wouldn't get hit again. they got out of their car. they performed cpr on that woman until an ambulance got here. she was rushed to the hospital where she died. this morning, police are looking for that dark-colored truck. they aren't even sure what kind of truck it is, if it is a ford or some other kind of type. they say if you know anything or see a truck with front end damage, they want to hear from you. live in phoenix, abc 15. >> all right. on the scene of that breaking news starting us off this morning. justin, thank you for that. let's move from that scene to this scene. a phoenix police officer subpoena okay after being hit by a

impaired. this crash happened around 3:00 h. officers were just leaving a nearby scene at the time of the crash. the driver who caused caused -- caused that crash. and the crews were on the scene. and we are joined me. >> we are working to get information this morning about two-year-old twins found in a hot tub now clinging to life in a hot tub. we want to get to abc 15 who is live mason. nick, what are we learning about what happened? do we know? >> dan, when we first spoke to police live, they tell us that these kids are still in very critical condition. right now, i am working to get an update from officials right here at the hospital behind me. let's go ahead and tell you what we are finding out. first responders tell us they showed up at the scene yesterday just before noon. that is when those two toddlers, two twins, two years old, a procedure and awe sister were

apartment complex's hot tub. we are told that mom was home hat the time. that she looked away just for a few seconds, and that was just long enough for those kids to slip away undetected and venture off to that hot tub where they were later found. some people tell us that the parents are cooperating this morning. the mom looks away to the -- for a few seconds. and once again, i am working to get an update. now, ahead at 5:30, it wasn't just kids that had to be ca this weekend. it's also adults. we are taking action to let you know everything that you need to know. and abc 15. all right, thank you, nick. and 5:04. it looks like a native american father in the center of an adoption dispute. we'll get to stay with her adoptive parents. the tribe was trying to get proceedings moved to its own court after that girl was adopted by a nonnative american couple. the state appeals

to light since the foster parents.en and the legal team is reviewing options. >> and lynn adder moreno's case is back before a judge. moreno accused of killing., accused of killing vargas. moreno was 15 at the time of the shooting. he pleaded not guilty. and ryan reed a will face second degree morning regarding a two-year-old who died in their care back in 2012. an autopsy showed that little girl was physically abuseed and exposed to drugs at the time of her death. and well, who could get the high speed chase for the valley. and you don't see these ones awesome. and. and this happened back in march. he tried to steal the man's motorcycle during the chase.

pretrial conference hearing. he is fixing self-charges including theft and robbery. and at the center of a child pornography. investigators say this man took a video of a four-year-old little girl naked while working in the daycare center. attorneys claim he had no clearance to work around children. now we know lifetime fitness has several gyms across the valley. coming up, we take a look at the other locations. some that have been in i'll have more of that at 5:30. live in phoenix, katie conner, abc 15 news. the time is 5:06. i want to get to breaking news. that is allison rodriguez getting ready. allison, i know you got on the scene. this is going to be a stabbing near central phoenix. is that correct? >> that's correct. we just rolled up on this scene a couple of minutes ago. i was able to talk to an officer who said

hospital. they blocked off a good area where we are. charlie, a popular bar. and gold bugger and osbourne. they say it happened in between these properties here. no word on any suspect at this point right now, chris, and everybody at home. what i can tell you we have been informed that pio is going to come out here and give us the briefing of anything they know how this started and what, if anything description there is on possible suspects. as soon as we get that, here. allison, thank you. you get updated from that public information. brand new video. more breaking news of an early-morning fire at a mobile home park in west phoenix. fire firefighters rushing to the scene near 67th avenue near van buren. not until the flames unfortunately had spread and also hitting a tree there. brought down some powerlines as well. fortunately, no nobody was hurt.

we are all clear all across the valley as we get ready to hit almost 5:15 this morning. clear skies on desert doppler in the valley. you'll notice around maricopa dry right now u. we had a pretty quiet day yesterday. today, though, we'll bring back the storm chances to the higher terrain as they'll climb up a little bit higher starting today and as we go through the woke. those areas that you see highlighted in t green. that is where the best potential is for some storms today. as i zoom in, you can see that the best potential will be across northern arizona. we do see a little bit of that groan in parts of the valley. that is mainly to account for storms

into this afternoon. so here is what to watch for. by midday, watch for storms to develop along the rim. storms could move closer to northern and northeast maricopa loin and we could get some gusts. it looks like we'll stay dry. we'll talk temperatures next. take a look at the roads. we're still doing just fine on month most of our free -- on most of our freeways. not much has changed. we have a crash. indian school road at loop # 01 is are going to see it. i don't think it will really impact you as you use the 101, but heads up. once you are up on the portion of 101 that is looking good. your desert drive time is eight minutes. this is eastbound from the 17 to the 51. november problem shots here. we'll take a lock at the 10 out in the west valley next. you just gave us a look at the roadways. coming up, we have the very new gas prices coming out monday morning. we'll tell you whether or not you'll be feeling the pain at the pump.

a firefighter fell on top of him. he was from vermont, first year working on a hot shot view. in california, a dozen buildings reduced to ash and more than a hundred others in the path of a raging wildfire. the fire broke out saturday afternoon quickly burning 3000 acres. so far, it is just 5% contained. 24,000 people are still under evacuation orders right now. 16 people have been hospitalized

fire. wouldfire more than 17,000 acres. the fire is 60% cop taped. investigators -- contained. investigators think the illegal campfire is to blame. no word if yous know the people who started that fire. we know the names of a couple aboard a deadly plane crash. a doctor and his wife. they were dentists from mississippi. authorities say the small plane crashed into the trees while trying to land. people also killed. that plane crash is still being investigated. crew us will resume their search for other victims after a fifth body was recovered after an apartment building that exploded in maryland. that powerful blast happened late wednesday night in silver springs. there are still four people unaccounted for right now, now, and two of the victims, we're told, were just three and eight years old. the cause of that explosion is still under investigation, but officials say several people

blast. today, the federal government's assistance to flint and nary water crisis there end -- their water crisis ends. some good news coming out this weekend. new tests show the lead levels in flint's water system are falling. now, while reading below the epa action level, it's a good sign it does not mean that the water is safe to drink just yet. hopefully, it's moving in the right direction. this is something else coming into the live desk. this involves hundreds of girls who are kidnapped in nigeria. we have bran information here. we have been covering this. this is worldwide news. a brand new video was released yesterday morning. some parents say they saw their daughters alive in the video e. in the video, one girl says that some of her classmates died in airline bombings and that 40 have been married to islamic extremist fighters. that particular girl warns that if a nigeria government battles with fire power, the girls will not be seen again. the parents are now asking for the government to

bring those girls backment. let's talk about that forecast now as she starts planning your day. it's not a bad-looking day. if you are up with us before the sunrise, this is a view you get to enjoy. nice and clear skies as we look live with our phoenix valley cam. temperatures are not doing so bad either. they are a little mild to a little warm here this morning across the valley sitting in the 80s. a lot of upper 80s too including phoenix in the upper 80s be and you are down at 88. you are holding on to those 90s for a while. you cool a few degrees at the top of the hour. we are starting to day -- the day in the low 80s in spots like mesa and chandler. as you plan your day, maybe you have a day off -- you want to go to the pool or take the kids to the pool after you get out of school. it is going to be a very hot day if temperatures inch to near 110. here is how the warm-up happens. we'll go from 87 now to 91 already by

in by 11:00 today. we'll climb to 102 by noon, and we'll watch for that high of 109 by 4:00 here this !err!. so just shy of that 110 mark -- 4:00 this afternoon. just shy of 110 and a few degrees of that average of 105. as far as storm chances go today, the best potential. we could see a few storms come a little closer on the foothims in that far north eastern corner. that far northern corner or portion, rather, but the valleyening looing to stay dry and even into tomorrow as we stay hot too. 109 through tomorrow. then temperatures start to trend back down as we head toward the end of the week and bring those storm chances back up. i'll talk more about that in just a little bit. mallory? >> and your valley drive times are looking great. no problems as far as crashes on the freeway. that includes the west valley. ten minutes here if you are traveling eastbound on i-10 from loop 101 to the 17. it's really not

that includes the east valley on i-10. i do want to give you a look from our adot camera. even though we aren't seeing delays, it is picking up from south of the the 20 -- you're traveling westbound heading into the valley e. november big problem spots there. they are going down, down, down. we are talking about gas prices. another week of prices headed in the right direction. and and in the month. and in arizona, track. steady for that 212 mark. some of the cheapest gas. you have to head to the east valley where you can find it as low as 192. that is the average there. a woman in a wheelchair hit and killed on a busy street. she was just trying to get on this sidewalk u. this morning, who police are looking for. it is 5:21. news of a deadly shooting in milwaukee over the weekend. it's causing riots in that city. we have new details on the

this is going to be as you try to get on southbound at indian school road, i don't you can see that crash. you can use that ramp just fine, but something to look out for if you are headed through scottsdale. we have some flashing plights in the right-hand side. this is i-10 westbound at the tunnel. it could be a traffic stop. i did hear some debris that they cleared from the tunnel, so that could be part of it there. just maybe just slide over to the left and give it extra space. we'll give you a closer look at the 10 because things are picking up at 5:32. developing right now, a dangerous weekend on the water leads to tragedy for four victims from three different families. >> it is frustrating. we cover this a lot. abc 15 is taking action for news on what we should think about when it comes to drownings and how to prevent them. nick, good morning. >> dan and danielle, it's not just kids. it is also adultings. we saw this weekend two adults die in drownings.

have to take the same precautions as kids. >> i think in so many cases, we think that as we become adults we don't have to take all of the safety measures, really. we're not wearing helmets when we are on our bikes. we're going into the water by ourself. what do we always tell kids? don't go swimming alone. >>reporter: yus you -- you just heard from lori mid t. she works for scottsdale fire and the president of the drowning prevention of arizona. she teaches classes to kids but also says classes too as a refresher. i caught up with her at the beginning of the season. she said adults often think they are invincible when they are in the water. she said drugs and alcohol can be a contributing factor. one witness tells us that in one of those adult cases from this weekend that witness believes alcohol was, indeed, a factor. we are still waiting for that official toxicology report. ahead at 6:00, we just spoke with police to find out what they are saying about those two toddlers

happened yesterday. that is coming up at 6:00. live in mason. abc 15. great reminders. they that are watching kids and be safe around water, yourself. >> just can't say that enough. and we have some breaking news. >> yeah, i have some breaking news and really phoenix police need your help. they need a break in this. it is a heartbreaking case and it is disgusting and dispickable at the same time as they try and track down a driver who hit a woman who is in a wheelchair early this morning. we have learned that woman ha abc 15. there he is. he's on the scene. this happened at 48th street early this morning, justin. hey chris. we're right along 48 willing street. it happened on that sign leading into that apartment complex. i want to show you something. the investigator told me the woman was in the bike lane right here, and she was trying to get up on the curb. you can see it is a pretty high curb right there. that is when she was hit by that truck. phoenix police are looking for that dark-colored truck.

street. they rushed her to the hospital early this morning. that is where she died. it's just a very sad story that she is in her 50s and 60s. that is believed to be how old she is. they also believe she does live in the area because folks recognized her wheelchair that is in this area. so again, if you have any information, phoenix police are looking for that dark-colored truck. they say it is possible that it does have some front end damage. so if you see that, call we're live in phoenix, abc 15. 5:35. it has been a month since ten-year-old jessie wilson was last seen. >> the buckeye boy's disappearance has gained national attention. the police, fbi, ncso, and of course, so many volunteers have been searching for jessie. now buckeyepd says those volunteers will no longer help in the search. that is because it is not being -- it is now being treated as a recovery operation. but buckeye says there is still hope to find jessie alive.

massive searches break out. still no sign of him, though. neighbors remain concerned. and even scared for the boy. >> you know, for a kid, i hope he comes home. and everybody out here in the neighborhood -- they're all -- everybody is worried and concerned. i know a lot of people that have been vol upen tiering here to -- volunteering here to go out there and do a search for him. >>reporter: buckeye police have a tip line open in this case. you can call that number. it is th if you know anything to help them crack the case, please let them know. >> so many people are hoping for jessie's's safe return. 5:36. this is a story you'll see first on harksbc 15 mornings. -- abc 15 mornings. a popular gym is at the center of a child pornography. an employee was arrested accused of taking inappropriate videos of children while working in the childcare center. a bc 15 katie conner has the details. parents think their kids will be taken

destroyed that trust. >> yeah, daniel. this is a vir disturbing story. that employee worked here at this lifestyle phoenix. according to this civil lawsuit, this isn't the only location that has gotten in trouble. victim's attorneys claim dhs found several violations at the lifetime fitness gyms in gilbert, and goodyear. applications for employees whether or not work in the childcare facility. he did clearance to work around kippeds when he took a video last year of a little girl changing not a stall. that video was uploaded to a child pornography website. he has pled guilty to some of the charges. lifetime released this statement to abc 15 regarding that civil lateraling. in accordance with our policy, we don't comment on pending litigation. we tend to vigorously defend ourselves in this matter. back out here live. he is due in court next

katie conner, abc 15 news u. two big decisions are expected. the first prop 205. you have likely heard about this. the option to legalize mar ban in our state. now, the group collecting enough signatures. but arizonans for responsible drug policy. that group filed a lawsuit arguing that the revenues from a 15% steals sales stacks measure up. the next measure that you will be looking at that could increase minimum wage. the operation -- the opposition says they were not collected the right way. now it is up to a judge to decide if there are enough valid signatures for the measure to actually make it on to the ballot. >> i know what e saw on the video. it

made that decision, it was a credible and legally-protected decision. >> an officer shoots and kills an african american man in milwaukee. riots then break out over the weekend, and new information is coming in about the body camera. that is the thing in question. they want to know what is on that video. >> to show what really happened. the officer was wearing that camera when he fired at the suspect. the mayor is asking for peace after protests destroyed several businesses. several officers were injured in this and more than arrested. 28 hours. imagine being stuck on a highway in this traffic for 28 hours. there is the video for you. and the video finally reopen after some of that flooding has subsided in louisiana. that is parts of the i-10 that was shut down. a major corridor. the main artery in and out of louisiana, and it's just one of the many problems people are dealing with at this hour. as you look at some of the images coming in.

you'll see it momentarily of that fluiding. more than 24 inches of rain have fallen in some areas in the last five days. three people have died. one person still missing. louisiana's governor says the disaster has forced rescues of more than 7000 people so far. you know what, why us a short time ago, the governor a segment with god morning america and our friend there is in new york telling us after that interview, they have conducted. 20,000 people have been rescued by the national guard and oth that area. my wife is watching. friend ands familiarfully -- family are impacting. and we are monitoring very closely forever. we'll continue to update you. i know you'll provide those updates too as that situation unfolds. it's going to take a look. much drier conditions. the valley waking up to
