free for monday morning. take a look. eight minutes southbound from dunlap to mcdowell. and you'll see a small batch of slowing near camelback. and the east valley is super quiet. maybe you're taking the 60 or the 10. you shouldn't see any problem spots. i want to talk about safety and security for parents there. there's a developing story in phoenix. abc 15 is aware of a social media threat involving a local high school. somebody posted a photo of guns warning people to stay home. several concerned parents and students shared that on facebook and called into the newsroom this morning. we have reached out to police and the high school district.

seriously, sorting this out. and we'll let you know when we hear back from them. racial tensions hit a boiling point over police shootings. there's a demonstration planned for right here in the valley. let's get to katie conner. a lot of people are wondering what's going to happen. mill avenue is the general avenue, right? >> this is a busy street. and students are the protest planned today. ralliers are planned to block traffic. they are demanding justice for michelle -- and for dalvin hollands. he was running from police after allegedly robbing a walgreens. police thought he was armed and no gun was ever found.

violent protests in charlotte. the governor had to impose a curfew to keep people safe. we talked with organizers, and they are hoping that the protest stays safe. they'll have extra police officers on hand. and they've told the organizers, they cannot walk in the street. anyone who breaks the rule could be arrested. 5:03 and more brea to tell you about. salt river police investigating after a man was shot dead at a gas station. justin pazera is live near hayden and -- >> is anybody in custody at this point though? >> reporter: a little twist to the story. two women are now in custody. and they are being questioned about the murder. it happened at this gas station. it's supposed to be open 24 hours.

is closed. here's the deal. police are looking for two other people, witnesses, they saw something happen. and i can see tempe marketplace from here. this is a very busy area. police want to talk to the two witnesses because they left. after they reported something going on in the parking lot. overnight, police were looking for the suspects and spotted a car they believe was connected to this. and the two women are being questioned. a 35-year-old male was shot and killed. at this point we're not sure of the motive. police are looking for witnesses and we'll be expected the name to be released after the family is notified. and more information coming in after a report of shots being fired bringing several police officers to a

51 and camelback. someone called reports of a gun being fired near an overpass. officers found several shell casings on the bridge. and they were questioning a person but it's not clear if that person was charged or if that was the shooter. a woman was stabbed late last night first responders rushed to the scene the injuries are life threatening and a person is in custody. and it may be a case of domestic violence. we're getting a look at two of the three people in custody. they're accused of attacking someone who was trying to do the right thing. dps tells us a woman stopped to

were stranded. one of them jumped in her car and punched her. officers arrested three of them. the 4th is a teenage runaway and that person will not b charged. phoenix police are asking for your help to find a shooter on the loose. one of these people shot a man in the chest year 35th and baseline three weeks ago. the victim made it. he was walking to was attacked. call silent witness if you have any information. 408-witness. and it might be early for halloween but never too early for thieves to strike. this video shows a crook making off with a family's halloween decorations. the person responsible didn't see the cameras or didn't care. >> what kind of person would do

once you're on the 17 it's quiet. and i want to show you loop 101. this weekend there was a lot of work in this area. i'm not seeing any slowing right now. i'm tracking changes in the form of rain chances. right now tracking light rain through southeast arizona, tucson, and areas to the southeast. closer to the valley. areas of the rain that doesn't quite hit the ground. that's what we've been seeing north of florence. there's a chance that could continue but for most of us a nice dry drive to work. and the changes are that we get a boost in moisture. and plan or more cloud cover. i kept the 10% chance in through 6 a.m. for that chance of a few

out. we have been tracking several earthquakes in california. they are small earthquakes and still noteworthy. as you look at the u.s. gs. all throughout california, and one in nevada. let me -- i wanted to pinpoint the largest quickly. and it's not going to work for me. 2.8 and still several little rumbles next door. are oil and gas wells partially to blame for the spike in earthquakes across the midwest? that's the question researchers at kansas state are asking right now. they are calling for new mapping after the earlier quake this month. in the last 10 years, they have seen a tenfold jump in seismic

the southwest. and it's going to stick to the southwest before it starts to lift north. and it's going to bring in the moisture along with kicking up the winds. the best rain chances will be across southeast arizona and we'll see the line of rain work into the valley. and as the storm system starts to lift closer to the state. the storm chances go up with lingering ragu wednesday and friday. for today, a 10% chance. i won't rule out a sprinkle in and as the day goes on. we'll watch the rain to the southeast. and it could lift into the phoenix metro by this evening. a slight chance of light sprinkles. we could get severe thunderstorms developing through the afternoon and through early wednesday with the chances continuing through thursday for the valley before we start to dry out. in the valley.

whoever did this -- if it is these two women -- it was done in front of everyone. the african-american male, 35 years old, he was shot and killed. we don't have a motive. and police are looking for two witnesses. they saw something and whatever it was, it was big enough for them to go inside and tell the clerk something was going on. and they left before they were able to talk to police. police want to talk to those maybe you saw something going on. it's a very busy area. i can see tempe marketplace from here. police want to hear from you if you saw something. a bicyclist was hit by a car near the i-17 and camelback. a car made a u-turn and hit a bicyclist at a low speed.

there will be a heavy police presence and tempe police do not plan on shutting down the bridge. back at the live desk, the 20-year-old suspected of opening fire inside a department store outside the seattle area will be in court today. he was captured saturday night about 30 miles from the scene. five people were killed attack at macy's. the victims here range from a teenage cancer survivor to a senior citizen. they were in the makeup department. >> i need to get back to the breaking news. this is the latest tweet from the houston police department. i told you about reports of an active shooter situation. several people shot by suspect are being transported to area

images coming out of houston involving the active shooter situation. abc15 is reporting seven people injured at this strip mall. it sounds like the early reports coming out that the shooting happened at a petco store there. also being reported is that the shooter has been shot by police officers. i don't yet know the severity of the injuries or the exact number of victims. and injured. weeks before the voters take on the issue of recreational pot, scottsdale opens up its newest medical dispensary. it's one of the largest in the state and they opened for an open house last night. >> there are a lot of stereotypes about medical marijuana dispensaries.

download it on your ipad. and track the showers throughout the day. right now the showers are confined to southeast arizona. what you'll notice is that we keep the clouds around in the valley. partly cloudy conditions through the day. and by the evening, the showers from the southeast pocket of the state will drift to the south and could move in by this evening. notice how the line kind of falls apart as phoenix metro. rain should be fairly light. and that chance is there. wanted to give you a heads up. over the next couple of days, the moisture will go up. and storm chances will continue. and tomorrow we could get more thunderstorms moving in to the valley. the storm chances are higher tomorrow. the storm system continues to impact our state. for today, just that 10% chance
