sure. thank you. at the abc 15 live desk i just got some court documents on a guy accused of invading women's privacy. here he is. officers say they took pictures and videos of women using the restroom on the asu campus in tempe, and now we know one of the women caught him in the act because she alerted police, but it sounds like women actually intercepted this guy himself as he came out of the restroom, held him down and got the phone so he couldn't delete and police say he had the excuse that he couldn't find the men's restroom and used the women instead. well the good guys are supposed to be on the same side, but in maricopa police are trying to figure out why their officers erranded up in a -- ended up in a wild shoot out with a a border patrol agent. jason is live in maricopa, and police just said that russo killed himself? >> reporter: that's right, there was some confusion at

killed himself, but they can confirm that jeremy russo, the suspect here shot himself. he was in the upstairs windows where the police are boarding them up, and you can see the police marking the bullet holes in the side of the house because the cops were firing back at russo at one point, and at some point during the stand off russo shot himself in the head with the hand gun, and neighbors and police both had to take cover. a quiet walk interrupted. >> oh my god. somebody just got shot. this video, others took cover. >> turned the lights out and everything like that because it sounded like it was in the backyard. >> reporter: jeremy russo opened fire from an upstairs window, firing down on police who responded to a domestic violence call. >> i immediately shut off all my lights and barricaded myself in my bedroom. >> reporter: police basically did the same thing. one maricopa officer returned five shots, but then police

lights and hid in the darkness,ing not to become -- trying not to become targets around the house, and some officers near the house were evacuated with an armored vehicle. >> they did everything they did in the pitch dark. >> reporter: the original 911 call came from the suspect's young daughter saying the dad was fighting with their mom, and the 15-year-old son was trying to break it up. the mom and two kids made it out of the house just as the officer pulled up, and that's with when the shooting starting, and in the end russo shot himself in the head. border patrol says jeremy joined the agency in 2011, and he was 40 years, and police tell us there was no history of domestic violence at the house. >> very sad circumstances. and back to the live desk, a bomb threat coming in at police headquarters in charlotte, north carolina. a lot of heat on police there because a man was killed by an officer last week, followed by

violent protests. headquarters here has been evacuated has a precaution. nobody hurt. that's ard coming to you are the -- according to authorities on the ground. we'll stay on top of this, and other let you know as soon as we -- and let you know as soon as we hear anything else. and looking down to the south we can see the storm clouds building in again, and here's the abc 15 desert doppler. showers and thunderstorms right now moving through pinal county up to the north, and much of it out over south of i-8, and to the west of i-10, but they'll continue to progress to the north over the next couple of hours giving us a chance for showers and thunderstorms as we head through this evening, so a 20 percent shot in the valley forecast. temperatures in the 80s over the next several hours, the low 80s through 8:00, 9:00, and even 10:00 p.m. tonight, and then we have more rain chances to track over the next couple of days. below average temperatures sticking around too, and coming up in just a bit, we'll talk about when the forecast will

look at storms hitting the high country right now. the first suspect was killed. tonight the suspect is behind bars. this all surrounds an attempted robbery at a motel 6 near 53rd and van buren last month. a security guard shot and killed one, and the second was on the run until now. ironically he was just picked up at a different motel 6. a valley pawnshop the target of a possible smash and grab. deputies and swat this situation in sun city. you can see a van backed up to the entrance of the place near 99th and bell, and the glass smashed. but whoever was inside is still on the loose. investigators not saying much about all of this. it's unclear what if anything was actually stolen. and from the live desk, personal information could be at risk tonight. two men accused of stealing computers, credit cards, and documents from mesa businesses. here they are, the two suspects, police say one of the places they hit was the gateway

the items they stole contain client and employee information, and officers yupsed surveillance -- used surveillance video to track them down. it's something that can happen in an instant, and it happened here in the valley. a man hit and killed an i-17 while trying to change a tire. another suffered nonlife threatening injuries. the driver of the truck was taken into custody. also on our roads, a deadly crash air 15 over 19th and greenway in north phoenix, and you can see the motorcycle laying on the street. that wreck impacting the morning commute for a lot of drivers. it's unclear though, what caused it. they were teammates in committing a crime, and now a second former asu football player learns his punishment for a burglary. he was sentenced to three years probation last year for breaking into an apartment on campus stealing credit cards,

reynolds, also a former asu player was sentenced yesterday. he was having beers with the guy just hours earlier, now he's accused of trying to kill him. police say a phoenix man found his fiancie having sex with somebody else and he pulled out a gun and shot him. stanley mahoney is facing murder charges. he and the fiancie went to the apartment of the man to have beers, later he caught her in bed with him. the victim is suspected to survive after being shot and last night's debate now the most watched debate in american history. more than 80 million people tuned in to see hillary clinton and donald trump face off. now neilson traditionally only measures viewers that watch at home, so those that watched as a party or bar, possibly online, none of these were counted, so the number of people that watched is actually much higher. so how did the nominees do? we know you all have your opinion, especially when it

a new page of controversy for sheriff paul babeu. sources tell us the fbi has subpoenaed records related to how babeu's office used seized criminal money also known as rico funds. critics have said pcso's use of the foundation is like money laundering. and they've also accused babeu of using the funds to fuel his campaign. it may already be illegal campaigning with government resources. or if they're just being used to make the sheriff look good,

we have crowds glowing at the new officer involved shooting in -- growing at the new officer involved shooting in california, just outside of san diego. this is a live picture of the shopping center where the shooting just happened. officers got a report of a person behaving erratically inside the comple they got to the scene there was a confrontation from the suspect, and at some point shots were fired. the crowd definitely fired up as you can see from the pictures, and we're going to keep an eye on this and let you know as we hear more about what's happening at the scene and pass it along to you here. work has begun on the 22- mile extension of the loop 202 known as the south mountain freeway, but not everybody is happy about it. >> yeah, a protest camp just opened up this afternoon, and the protesters are getting

abc 15's melissa blasius is will. >> reporter: the protest -- is there. >> reporter: the protesters involved in the run say this is their way of blessing the land and want to let adot know they're going to battle the project until the bitter end. >> it's our lives on the line here and our beliefs and spiritualty, so we have to protect it. >> reporter: the run is going to a community meeting in ahwatukee that starts at 6:00 where dad is sharing new -- adot about construction time lines and new drawings of the freeway and what it will look like when it's finished in 2019. construction on the highway started last week after a judge approved work to begin after a lengthy legal battle. >> we want to listen to all the feedback, whether it's positive or negative. we want to hear from the public. >> reporter: the community meting runs tonight from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

for you and she's finding out that any relief could take awhile. >> every day is a new day when you're teaching. you don't walk into the same thing day in and day out the way many people do when they walk into their jobs. >> reporter: lorraine is a long term sub in mesa, and just one of the ways the school district the trying to shovel a -- is trying to solve a teacher shortage. >> at any given day i mor- mouse sub of -- enormous number of jobs available for subs. >> hiring has become increasingly difficult, and we are very concerned about the number of teachers going into teacher preparation programs. the shortages we're seeing now are only going to grow in the coming years. >> reporter: while salaries are a big issue, the candidates just aren't there to even hire. >> we need high school students right now to decide that this is a wonderful profession.

a reward increased to $40,000. if you have any information that could lead to an arrest. and mesa used car dealership under the microscope by the attorney general for firing an employee with disabilities and also fighting cancer. right now from the live desk, warned to stay away from their homes for a couple more days at least all because of the flooding in iowa, and look at this. the temporary barriers appear to be working today, but they're still taking precautions. before today, flooded creeks and rivers flooded low lying properties, the worst flooding there in almost a decade. we're tracking showers and thunderstorms south of valley

i-8. the rain mostly still south of the interstate, but the high winds flowing out picked up dust along i-8 and moving farther to the northwest. the national weather service is issuing a blowing dust advisory for this area in just a matter of minutes for pinal county and southwest portions of maricopa county to cover the gila bend area, and that other portion of i-8 that's going to be affected there. at this point it doesn't look like it's headed toward phoenix, but it could clip some west valley cities this evening, so we'll continue to keep a close eye on that, and right now it appear it is blowing dust advisory that will be issued in a matter of minutes will not include the phoenix metro, but the showers and thunderstorms firing up to the south bringing potential heavy rain into the forecast, and as we look to the northeast here, we have quite a bit of very intense thunderstorm activity up along the rim

so far we've had three severe thunderstorm warnings issued for that area, one is remaining mainly to the southwest of winslow pushing northwest at this hour, so we'll keep a close eye on all of the strong storms in the high country. in the meantime we have a lot to track. down to the south we have the low pressure bringing the chances of showers and thunderstorms, and just a little fact south than that is a tropical storm. the latest models have her weakening her, and not coming up into all of that remnant moisture still centered offshore, but we're already starting to tap into it. you can see the water vapor imagery, and we'll tap into more of it and bring it up over the next 48 hours. the shower chances increase slightly into thursday, and for the higher terrain about a 50 percent shot over the next couple of days, and then there's a drying trend into the weekend. right now 88 degrees. humidity at 26 percent, and

a few spots hitting 90 like ahwatukee and glendale at this hour, and casa grande to the south at 87, low 70s in sedona, payson, and prescott, and these spot social security will be down -- spots will be down into the 50s tonight. and high temperatures still a little below average. 94 in phoenix tomorrow, and lake havasu, and 65 in flagstaff, but again that's below average, and we'll keep that trend going the next several days. mesa 92, fountain hills 91. upper 80s in carefree and creek, anthem at 90, and it will be a nice morning, and we'll see temperatures in the 70s through at least 8:00 if not 9:00 a.m. in the morning tomorrow. here's the next seven days. slight chance of an isolated shower here in the valley tomorrow. a lot of action in the higher terrain to the east. lit up tomorrow. but just eight slight chance in the valley. it's 20 percent thursday, drying out friday at 94,

sunny skies through the weekend, and slightly cooler as the shine continues for the -- sunshine continue for the start of next week. >. and drivers will be happy to hear road improvements are on the way, and here's more from mallory moore. >> reporter: the ride from apache junction to tortilla flat is a scenic one, but also dangerous with cars careening off cliffs, and now adot is taking action. they're making a lot of repairs and improvements to state route 88. you see the signs behind me? they'll replace the outdated signs and improve the pavement markings, and also reconstruct six of the treacherous curves, repair old guardrail and pullouts in the name of safety. the work is scheduled to begin next year. in apache junction, mallory moore. returning to land after being lost at sea. why coming back home is far from a happy time for one man.
