police say the attack happened about two weeks ago at kimberly park near 99th avenue and indian school. he has a tattoo of a star on raise right forearm. urgent search in mesa. there is a silver alert for 77- year-old mural buford. take a look at the picture he was last seen yesterday near country club and main. he might be wearing a blue shirt, blue jeans, black shoes and driving a 2003 red chevy trailblazer. call police if you know where he is. following breaking news, police spending all night investigating an officer- involved shooting. four officers open fire on a man with handgun and body armor, after he pointed his gun at them. we don't know his name but we

has a criminal history and just got out of prison 10 months ago. he was shot several times and is expected to be okay. in scottsdale a traffic stop took a different turn as a man crashed his car then took off. megan thompson is on the scene. he left some important things behind? >> reporter: yeah, things that might end up getting him caught. they have obviously the car he was driving. they also have a woman that he left behind here near scottsdale and highland avenue. crews have been here for hours trying to clear the downed trees and debris. the engine of the car is also laying out. amazingly, that woman only has minor injuries. this started when police tried to pull over the man on shay. he didn't want to stop and sped up. officers decided to stay back and when they got here a short time later, they found his car.

plane this is? okay, we do not know at this time. again, air 15 just got there. you see one patient on a stretcher and they are bringing another stretcher over as we speak. again, this is a serious situation here as these two are in serious condition. >> i think this is prettyclose to the deer valley airport. there are also student pilots in that area. we are trying to work to confirm, and i believe there was a crash last week pretty close to this same airport, where a plane just skidded off the runway. you can see the airport there under like a hay barn of some sort. of course our team is working behind the scenes to try and get all this confirmed for us. at least two people at this point are in serious condition. also breaking overnight, police investigating a near drowning in buckeye.

they were off duty when they spotted the suspect's car at the gym. they called for backup and sure enough watched terry looter break someone's car window before they made the arrest. he is suspected in five burglaries. in mesa, the city will eventually accept applications for low income housing. the wait list was supposed to open yesterday but it got pushed back to early december because the city wanted to give people more time to apply. >> we'll need to fill vouchers that we have now pretty quickly. but anyone who's on our wait list will be prioritized based on if they're homeless, if they live or work in mesa. but everyone will be served at some point. >> the last time the wait list was opened was may 2013. thousands in south phoenix may have another way to get around town soon.

million grant to extend the light rail down central avenue, expanding it 5 miles from downtown phoenix to baseline. the groundbreaking is scheduled for 2019. a setback for a new addition at the grand canyon as the navajo nation says no to a proposed grand it was a little chilly this morning. i was out there and had to wear a light jacket. >> and temperatures did cool down into the 60s across much of the valley. so it was a cool start, but we're warming up out there already. we have a few high clouds drifting in across the phoenix area. you'll notice them but it's mostly sunny out there, not overcast by any means.

clouds rolling in and looking at phoenix near piestewa peak this morning. good looking view here. over the next couple days as you look out, we'll see a little dust out there. our air has been fairly stagnant with no strong storm systems and no rain, and no strong winds to disperse the dust. so it's kind of sitting over the phoenix metro. over the next couple of days, our dust concentrations will stay likely range. you may notice that brown haze over the valley. if you're especially sensitive, it could impact you if you're working out, going for a run. again, no major impact as it inches up into the moderate range. those high clouds are drifting in. as we look at satellite and radar, really just some high clouds streaming in as a disturbance starts to move across the state.

to push in from the southwest and then slide east. we are not going to see any rain, though. you can see how dry conditions are now. as we look at the region, it's pretty dry across the area despite that disturbance moving through. we'll notice high clouds, that disturbance moving in and that's really it. we'll have a bit of a drop in temperatures over the next couple days behind this but we'll still be above average through the next afternoons. heading toward the weekend, we'll track a series of systems moving into the pacific northwest. those storm systems will miss us just to the north. so we could see passing high clouds at times in the state but our forecast is looking to stay dry. and you'll notice with futurecast, going through this afternoon, we'll see the high clouds but no rain through 5:00 here this evening anywhere in the state. tomorrow, back to sunny skies,

conditions statewide. even friday, some passing high clouds but that's it. we'll keep those dry conditions going through the week and into early next week. and if you've been wanting to go check out the fall colors, this weekend may not be a bad weekend for it. we're dry statewide, so a nice drive up to the high country. and temperature wise, we won't be too warm anywhere in the state, just a little bit above average through the weekend. to plan the rest afternoon, we have mid-80s now and upper 80s by lunchtime. then 90s look to hold off till about 1:00 this afternoon. then we warm to a high of 95 degrees by 4:00, starting to cool back off after sunset, 85 degrees by 8:00 this evening. we'll talk about what temperatures look like over the next seven days coming up in a few minutes. a big healline this morning, janet jackson confirming she is expecting her

carolina are tough to see here, hurricane matthew, the aftermath turning roads into lakes there. the death toll in north carolina up to 18, and the latest were drowning victims. officials say all the deaths are from cars getting swept away in flood waters. and the death toll has risen to 34 in and the national guard has kept so busy, performing water rescues all across the state there. this is new video from some of the operations as the national guard rescued about 2,000 people since cities were inundated with the high water. everybody in one town needed to be rescued. we are talking the entire town. we showed you some of that video earlier.

was inside a suspicious backpack left at a police station. it was discovered by an officer outside the station and the bomb squad was called in to examine what appeared to be an explosive device. a nearby shopping center and the station were evacuated and robots removed several pieces of the device. today the suspect accused of killing two police officers is facing a judge. they were during a domestic violence call. john felix was taken into custody after a 12-hour standoff with police. he could be charged with first- degree murder, making him eligible for the death penalty. it's violence and shocking video of a road rage brawl caught on cell phone video. you can see the man and woman going at it. the woman manages to get a crowbar away from him before he flips her over. las vegas police say both

before we start to feel the warmer temperatures. 87 currently in mesa and gilbert, and fountain hills, 85 in surprise. light winds around the valley. yesterday we had stronger breezes, especially up north. the winds are really not an issue this morning. they have been fairly light. we have a disturbance moving across our state right now. the only way you'll know its moving through is when you look up and see some clouds. this is our view here near camp verde. you can see some of the high clouds over the i-17, certainly looking nice out there. but we are not seeing any rain in the high country. and we have high clouds over the valley too. still not seeing any rainfall, and not expecting any rainfall as the clouds roll through. this disturbance moves through and looks to be a dry one.
