there is an officer down. >> reporter: this morning, a statewide manhunt under way for this man, 46-year-old michael green, accused of executing two officers killed in cold blood. >> black male, orange shorts, was in the vehicle got out to make the shots and then jumped back in the vehicle and traveling eastbound. >> there is somebody out there shooting police officers. we hope we find him before anybody else gets hurt. >> reporter: according to police the ambush-style attacks occurred about 20 minute as part beginning at 1:06 a.m. the first officer shot sitting in his car on patrol alone. >> we have another offic >> reporter: the second officer killed while responding. he was also found shot in his car. these shootings come as officers killed by guns in the line of duty is up dramatically this year by 48%. des moines police say, if you see green, do not approach. dial 911. robin? >> incredibly tragic. all right, pierre, thank you. now to the race for the white house just six days to go, and hillary clinton is calling

million votes cast, and those are in the bank. it's like runs she has already scored at this point. you have to prevent error, not commit errors in the final inning and not give up the long ball. i think that's what each side has to do. donald trump still has to put some singles and doubles in to score some runs in this, but just not commit errors. >> jon karl, one thing that hillary clinton has had to give up, she was looking at when those polls were wide, she was hoping to end on a real positive note, not taking that tact right now. >> not at all. if you look at why she's closing out alicia machado, going after dold universe case, and look it her closing advertising. it's a combination of he is somebody who is sexually harassing women, and who will blow up the world in a nuclear holocaust. it is a very negative taking the low road for both sides. this campaign is ending on the lowest note that i've ever seen. >> and it's going to end with the two candidates ending with historic unfavorable ratings in this. it's like the boston red sox playing the new york yankees when the fans love them, but most of america doesn't like them and that's how this is

tanks may soon be facing a price hike in the wake of the blast. >> this situation if not immediately alleviated could pose a real risk for gas price increases going into thanksgiving. >> reporter: the severed pipeline stretches from houston, texas, to new jersey. supplying gasoline to about 50 million people in 13 states, that's nearly half of the region's fuel. news of the explosion and subsequent shutdown triggering a state of emergency in alabama. >> it affects not only alabama eastern seaboard. >> reporter: gas futures skyrocketing as much as 15% tuesday before easing off. just two months ago, a leak on that same pipeline led to days of dry prumps and price hikes in half a dozen states. 17 cents in tennessee and 28-sent hikes in georgia and the fear is this shutdown could be even worse. just how long and how severe

repair that pipeline. officials are hoping it'll be done by saturday but, george, that's no sure thing. >> not at all. okay, phillip. thanks very much. the latest now on bill cosby heading back to court today as he tries to convince a judge to throw out those sexual assault charges, prevent his accusers from testifying. abc's linsey davis is here with more on the pretrial hearing. good morning. >> reporter: good morning, george. the biggest item on the docket of this now day two, is if testimony from 13 other will be permitted in the trial. pennsylvania law only allows such testimony if it demonstrates a pattern of behavior, but the defense says the testimony is old and irrelevant. another face-off this morning for the second day in a row as bill cosby heads back to court where his lawyers are fighting to keep potentially damning evidence out of his trial. the current case stems from an alleged assault back in 2004 with former temple university employee, andrea constand. prosecutors argue testimony from 13 of his more than 50 accusers

the prosecution says the other women should be allowed to testify to show cosby had a signature pattern of behavior that spanned decades where he allegedly drugged and sexually assaulted dozens of women. >> the prosecution must think that this is important to their case, or they wouldn't have filed the prosecution motion seeking to have 13 potential witnesses testify. >> reporter: but cosby's lawyers argue the women's memories are tainted by time and prejudiced by media coverage. >> here we are now 12 years later asked to defend a case where witnesses have died. memories have faded. >> reporter: cosby has pleaded not guilty, and his lawyers are not only calling for the judge to make the alleged victims take memory and competency tests, but want them to let go. >> what do you say to the people to the people who say, oh, come on.

>> we've seen it so many times in our criminal justice system where there are a multitude of accusers, and yet, it was determined that there was no case. >> reporter: the prosecution is also hoping to get cosby's 2005 deposition included in the trial where he answered questions in constand's civil suit after he was assured by the then district attorney that he would never be prosecuted. cosby and his legal team have always maintained his encounter with constand was consensual. george? >> okay, linsey, thanks. we have rest of this morning's headl headlines, starting with an earthquake in oklahoma? >> parts of oklahoma were shaken by a 4.5 magnitude earthquake overnight not far from tulsa. this was the fifth quake to hit that state in one day and was felt as far away as kansas city. recent quake activity raised concerns about fracking and the disposal of waste water from energy production. there are new details now in

for a period of time of three weeks. and the theory is that the culprit in those energy drinks an ingredient called niacin, also known as vitamin b3 which is known to cause things like flushing, low blood pressure, stomach issues, liver damage, now here come the caveats. this gentleman did have hepatitis c pre-existing and the american beverage association really quick to point out this one case report does not show cause and effect. in my book, you have heard me say it before. moderation is key. these energy drinks are not meant to be drank like water. >> and how about being mixed with alcohol? there was another study that looked into that, jen. >> exactly. >> and this is out of purdue university, robin. this was a study done in mice because we can't do this type of study in human beings who are teenagers. but it looked at young mice combined energy drinks with alcohol, found that it produced structural and functional changes in the brain that may persist into adulthood greater than either of those things alone so we need more research. >> wow. >> but a reminder, these are not for kids or teens, and do not

soothing for you. >> such as? >> well, we know that one of the ways that our body tells itself it's time to go to sleep is there's a rise in a hormone called melatonin. but bright light and blue light can inhibit our body's release of that hormone, so there are things we can do. one is just dimming the lights but a couple of cool things. i've got these orange glasses and when i put those on, take a look, this is what it looks like, the environment changes. >> wow. >> okay, and what that does it allows her body to release more melatonin. so if you put those on for a couple of hours before bed, small studies show it may make you sleepier. on our electronic devices, you can hit something on the app of the devices called night shift, and it turns your screen from blues to oranges. other devices you can download that as well. these are little things that you can do that may help you get a better night's sleep. turning off your electronics an hour before bed is a good thing too. >> do you do things like that? >> i do.
