thunderstorms to develop this afternoon and some of them could be strong possibly even severe especially in spots east and southeast of the phoenix area. and when i say severe i mean strong winds. we could see some strong winds with these storms and with that of course comes the threat of dust. it's not the monsoon but we've been so dry that dust could certainly be kicked up very easily. if you are traveling south of the valley keep that in mind. pockets of heavy rain not out of the question. hail too. that threat in the moderate range something to keep in mind as we go through the afternoon. these storms are developing as a storm system sits just to our south. that will keep the rain chance in place through today and even into tomorrow before we start to dry things out. that's also keeping temperatures in the 80s the next couple of days and then we've got a warm up to look forward to. i'll show you those warmer temperatures in that 7-day

strong hail. much of the valley pretty quiet. i've been watching a watch of showers and thunderstorms move from east to west across the north portions of your county and they are impacting spots like cape creek out near the beeline highway. saw a few showers and storms moving through. again they're tracking from east to west. almost to the northwest as well. so spots like new river getting that rain. eventually working their way into spots across yabaki county. we had a lot of showers and storms earlier but this entire area will be the focus for more storm development as we go into this afternoon and it's a spot that we're going to have to watch later on. and that could mean a dust threat for us. and even to our southeast and you're already starting to see some of those storms developing
11:50 am
we'll be watching those closely over the next couple of hours and again possibly produce some strong winds and dust. i know it's not the monsoon but we're going to watch for storms. but we're also tracking more widespread coverage in that rain and showers and thunderstorms. across the muggyon rim. we'll watch for more showers and storms to develop along the eastern rim and any storms that do develop in those areas do have the potential of being strong maybe even severe. this area highlighted in the dark green that's where we could see some of the strongest storms. from globe from cassa grande. so the valley is in the path of those storms. so this afternoon be on alert for strong winds. possibly some dust and pockets of heavier rain and small hail not out of the question.
