some school leaders are not taking any chances with their students. good evening. i'm dan ashley. >> and i'm dion lim. alma has the night off. local law enforcement is working to investigate the threats. >> kate is in emeryville aer someone sent one of the e-mails to a superintendent about a planned shooting. kate? >> reporter: well, dan, dion, emory high was closed to the as were all of the schools in the district after i superintendent received the threatening e-mail. i'm told the e-mail said something about a student in need of help who had been bullied. but it turns out that e-mail was part of some sort of competition to get schools closed and as many as possible. squad cars in the parking lot, locked doors and an empty campus after someone sent an e-mail threatening to shoot students and faculty in emeryville. emory unified school district canceled class. >> it was the right decision at the right time. >> captain oliver collins with emeryville p.d. said his detectives started investigating

as soon as the e-mail came in sunday night. >> there's been too many instan sis of agencies and organizations not taking threats seriously or vetting them out. >> reporter: by monday morning police determined it was a hoax that originated in an online gaming community. more than 50 bay area school districts received the threatening e-mail. by the time they saw it emory p.d. and other law enforcement agencies had determined it was not a credible threat so they kept schools open. >> it's not a good situation. schools are making tough choices. >> reporter: michelle smith mcdonald works for the all immediate i school district. 13 schools received threats. >> the idea this was a dare or some sort of a bet or something where they want to just frighten and sort of alarm school communities, it's really troubling. >> i think it's ridiculous. kids are supposed to feel safe at school. >> reporter: they were alarmed to learn their schools were also threatened.

is in washington. >> reporter: fbi agents in new york city raided the home and personal office of michael cohen. calls the raid completely inappropriate and unnecessary. it resulted in the unnecessary seizure of protected attorney/client communications between a lawyer and his clients. he went on to say the raid was the result of a referral by the special counsel's office. sources familiar with the investigation tell abc news the fbi raids were not about russia but did reveal they took a host of documents including some possibly related to cohen's $130,000 payment to adult film star stormy daniels in the days leading up to the 2016 election. moments after the news broke. >> i just heard that they broke into the office of one of my personal attorneys, good man, and it's a disgraceful situation. >> reporter: president trump again called the investigation a witch hunt against him. >> but that is really now in a

victim of a crime. david harris suffered cuts to his hands subduing the suspect 32-year-old robert dolf. the suspect is accused of stabbing a woman in her 60s and her brother who is in his 50s. the woman has been released from the hospital. her brother is in critical but stable condition. harris was nearby and jumped in to help. >> i didn't think. i just reacted, you know. i ran over and by the time i got there, she had dropped to the floor and her brother was being stabbed. >> harris says he wanted to help because , too, was stabbed once and none of his neighbors helped. >> now, check out this video san francisco police released today as part of a burglary ring bust as a woman walks into her garage. you can see burglars come out of her front door. one jumps over the ledge. you can see him. two more follow. they'll come out here in a moment. there they go. they hopped into a vehicle and took off. ten people have been arrested over the last 90 days as part of this sting. they're accused of taking part in a crime ring that stole $3 million in money, credit cards

richmond police are investigating a deadly shooting in that city tonight. one man was hit by gunfire on harnet avenue by the bay view branch library. he died from his injuries. police say no arrests have been made. officers are also trying to determine a motive. >> six months ago the north bay wildfires killed 44 people and destroyed 8900 buildings. today those still rebuilding faced a deadline to clear fire debris. the deadline applied to fire victims in sonoma county who opted out of a government sponsored removal program. property owners who didn't meet today's deadline face possible fines. >> in the meantime finding beauty in all that destruction, a north bay artist is determined

when you take a look at the statewide map, moderate to severe drought covers a good portion of southe california and there are even some extreme drought situations there well to the south. so, yes, the atmospheric river last weekid help us out here in the bay area. but we certainly can use more rain. so, take a look at our rain chances. this is encouraging for april. we have the next three days where we have level one systems. they're not an atmospheric river. they're not going to be big soakers, but we havehances of rain. early next week we also have a level one system coming our way. so, certainly is encouraging. right now temperatures in the 50s, the 60s. these really loo like highs for the day. it's so warm outside. still 68 degrees in san jose. it's hard to believe it's 66 in napa right now. these are actually current temperatures so we're still holding on to some of the warmth from earlier in the day from our east bay hills camera. view is terrific looking across cooler tomorrow with a few showers. another round of rain wednesday afternoon, evening, and it is going to be sunnier and warmer end to the week.
