the secret message coming up. coming up peyton manning is going to talk to us a little bit later this morning. will he or will he not retire? we'll ask him. right now, jesse palmer in santa clara with the latest. good morning, jesse. >> reporter: good morning, robin. this game had all of the ingredients for a classic super bowl. we had a close game. a phenomenal halftime show. tons of celebs. but the big question on everybody's mind this morning after leading his team to a 24-10 victory, would broncos quarterback peyton manning hang it up after winning his second super bowl? >> against pressure. the ball is out! >> cam newton and his high-flying panthers ran smack into a defensive buzzsaw. led by von miller. denver rode their defense to a third super bowl championship. >> the denver broncos have taken super bowl 50. >> reporter: 39-year-old quarterback peyton manning, now

7:04 am
>> reporter: the break didn't seem to help carolina. in the third quarter, down 13-7 they had a chance to stay in the game by the time c.j. anderson scored this touchdown the game was over. denver winning 24-10. >> i don't know what you want me to say. >> reporter: in the postgame press conference cam newton, sacked six times during the game, could not hide his frustration. >> we lost. >> reporter: meanwhile, everyone wondering if the other quarterback peyton manning will attempt to win super bowl li. >> i'll take some time to reflect, i got a couple of priorities first. i want to kiss my wife and my kids. i'm going to drink a lot of budweiser tonight. peyton manning the only quarterback in nfl history to win a super bowl with two different teams. the other team being the colts and the celebration under way in denver. this is the front page of the denver post. simply says champs.
7:05 am
show, robin. >> all right, jesse, thank you very much. joining us now, demarcus ware, who was on the defense there with, let me say this right, super bowl champions denver broncos. demarcus, great to see you, congratulations. it's your first super bowl appearance. it's a memorable one for you. how were you able -- your defense able to do what other teams weren't able to do shut down cam newton and the carolina panthers. >> a lot of teams that went in and been intimidated and we weren't that way. we had two weeks to prepare. it felt good, our preparation, on those trick plays and everything they did, they really helped out that week. >> your team has had its ups and downs this season. challenges like everyone. but you were able to bring it together, what makes this team and this coaching staff so special, demarcus?
7:06 am
to get where we are today. the pinnacle of the word is teamwork and everybody pitching in and doing what they needed to do. >> it was a total team effort throughout the entire season. we saw that last night on display. you and peyton, the word on the street, you gave some emotional speeches to your teammates prior to the game. apparently, it worked. what exactly did you say, demarcus, to them? >> just talking to the guys and i think the main thing is how hard it is to get here to the super bowl and, you know, peyton spoke before me and just talking about the years that he played and this is the shortcoming of this type of game and i said the same thing, i mean, what do you guys play for? what is your destiny? i said this is an opportunity of a lifetime. this is the reason why we're here. winning february the 7th. i told them about, you know,
7:07 am
bible. i told them, ask and you shall receive. we did that at the beginning of the season and god granted us the opportunity. it's february the 7th and it's 7:7 on matthews, when you go to the casino, what does that mean? we hit the jackpot. now we just got to go and receive our winnings. >> and you did, tenfold last night. we're anxiously waiting peyton manning, if this was his last game or not. he's going to spend some time thinking about that. but what has it meant playing with a future hall of famer like peyton manning? >> you know, you see -- you know, from a -- changes from one team to the next the adversity that he goes through all of his critics, and no matter what, you know, he's one of those guys
7:08 am
new tricks when you have been consistent through all those things. he's the leader of our team. we call him the sheriff and that's what he does. it's just great to be part of this part of history in my career. my team, i just love them for that. >> well earned. well deserved, demarcus, enjoy the moment. you take care. thank you for joining us you know i will. thank you so much. >> all right. >> they all will. von miller, his defensive teammate, mvp. peyton manning will talk to us in a little bit. and d-ware will be on jimmy kimmel later tonight. we move on now to the white house, "your voice, your vote." all eyes on new hampshire. we begin with the democrats. bill clinton taking aim at bernie sanders for the first time. bernie sanders up double digits. abc's cecilia vega has the latest. >> reporter: overnight, bill clinton taking on a new role in his wife's bid for the white
7:09 am
campaign attack dog. >> for her this isn't about grand theories of revolution. this is about whether we can improve people's lives. >> reporter: the former president unleashing on his wife's rival, accusing some bernie sanders' supporters making offensive comments online to female clinton backers. >> this is trolling and attacks that are literally too profane, not to mention sexist. to repeat. >> reporter: bernie sanders denouncing the nastiness saying it has nothing to do with his campaign. >> look, we don't want that crap, and we'll do everything we can and i think we have tried. >> reporter: with hillary clinton trailing in the polls here. the uphill battle to win this state now tougher than ever. >> i think if i can persuade granite staters to give me another look. i'll do better. i'll keep fighting until the last vote is cast. >> reporter: the face-off is just a day away.
7:10 am
kind of face-off on "snl." >> i'm so sick of 1% getting this preferential treatment. >> reporter: bernie sanders coming face to face with his doppelganger larry david. >> sounds like socialism to me. >> democratic socialism. >> what's the difference? >> huge difference. >> reporter: in the midst of this heated race out here in new hampshire, hillary clinton left the state, went to flint, michigan, where they're dealing with that water crisis. she's back here with a pack schedule today. bernie sanders has a packed schedule. bill and chelsea out here as well. we'll see if he continues with those attacks today. >> all right, cecilia, thank you. now to the republicans flooding new hampshire today after saturday's feistiest debate. donald trump still with the lead. ted cruz and marco rubio neck and neck.
7:11 am
>> reporter: this morning, marco rubio is facing fallout over that debate he'd like to forget. >> what do you think happened to rubio. >> i don't understand, george. i really don't understand what happened. >> reporter: on the eve of the new hampshire primary, rubio is being ridiculed for repeating himself repeatedly. >> he knows what he is doing. >> reporter: this video from democrats and by republican rivals. >> he knows exactly what he's doing. >> the anointed one last night didn't look like he was ready for the game. >> reporter: rubio said it's one of the best debates he's had. >> i'm being criticized by saying obama is trying to dismantle the american dream and redefine america. i'm going to keep saying that throughout the game over and over again. >> reporter: with trump leading in the polls the race for second is dead heat and trio of governors including jeb bush is surging in the final days, taking heat from donald trump.
7:12 am
mommy, please come, help. >> reporter: governor john kasich of ohio, seems to be having the most fun you joked you should be running in the democratic primary. i know that was a joke. >> look, the independents, the democrats, an ability to get them. >> reporter: the traffic jam started the abc debate that's generating the real buzz. ben carson and then donald trump didn't come out when their names were called. rubio walked past them. just look at their faces as jeb bush passes them by. donald trump has led every poll here in new hampshire for months. if you believe the polls today, he appears on the verge of winning the new hampshire, but trump is taking nothing for granted. in fact, he has four events today, two rallies and two town hall meetings. george. >> that would be huge. let's bring in governor chris christie, got great raves for that debate on saturday. you saw that poll this morning,
7:13 am
place. are you worried that you hurt marco rubio and not help yourself? >> absolutely not, george. this race is now wide open. no one knows what's going on in this race at all. we sense real momentum on the ground for us. we're looking to run right through the tape on tuesday. and really do very, very well. >> you hit him so hard on saturday night, called him the anointed one yesterday. made the clear case he's not ready to be president. can you say the same thing about front-runner donald trump? >> listen, my focus on saturday night is marco rubio, the senator's first-term united states senator, the fact is, he's never accomplished anything of any note in the united states senate. one that he noted he wasn't even there to vote for. this is not about me or him. it's about the american people. we elected seven years ago a president who, you know, a first-term united states senator. never ran anything in his life. we watched our country go
7:14 am
we don't need to repeat the same mistake. my experience being tested in my state by hurricane sandy, by a democratic legislature, best prepares me to be the next president of the united states. >> you know, you have invested so much time and money in new hampshire, though, still in sixth place, if you can't win there, where can you win? >> george, you know, i know, that as a former operative you're obsessed with the polls. i know you are. i also know when you working for bill clinton in 1992, everybody told him the night before new hampshire primary, he was going to be in single digits and was finished. he came in second place and his campaign went on to win the nomination. so, let's remember a little history that you were a part of, this is not about the polls this morning. it's about the performance on saturday night and the performance of the candidates. we showed people we're ready to be president. but more importantly we're ready to take on hillary clinton.
7:15 am
have to remember, who would they want to have on that debate stage against hillary clinton, marco rubio or me? >> almost half could change their minds. what's your message to them? >> we cannot afford to lose to hillary clinton. you need someone who's tested enough to make sure we can beat hillary clinton. and get to the white house to change the direction of our country. this is not about going for anything else other than the person who can best serve as president. i think when people watched saturday night, one person who was watching who wants nothing to do with me in september and that's secretary clinton. we're ready to have the fight. let's win up here in new hampshire and let's move on from there to get the nomination. and take on secretary clinton. >> governor christie, thank you. "good morning america" and "world news tonight" will be live from new hampshire tomorrow. and we'll have the results as they come in right here on abc. amy's here with the other
