a 38-year-old ohio man has plead guilty to fraud for illegally collected unemployment benefits from the state of nevada while in jail. authorities say jesse michael whitlock committed the theft between december 2010 and august 2011. authorities also say nedine renee christunas helped whitlock obtain the state assistance by filing the fake unemployment claims. as part of his plea.. whitlock will pay back more than $13,000 to the nevada department of employment, training and rehabilitation. he will be sentenced in june. a warrant for the arrest of christunas is outstanding... and she remains at large. police say the owner of lake tahoe brewing company, michael candelario is now facing felony charges after he allegedly sold 45- thousand dollars worth of canning equipment to a company in canada and never actually arranged to

delivered. candelario was arrested at lake tahoe brewing company yesterday. lake tahoe brewing has been closed since last month due to a boiler problem. the search is on for a man in connection with a high speed chase through reno. it all started in a carson city liquor store where a 26- hundred dollar bottle of liquor was stolen. that's when an off duty police officer saw a car speeding up to 100 miles per hour on i-580. the driver ended up hitting another car near meadowood mall interchange. the two suspects ended up at the grand sierra resort where they ditched the car and took off running. the driver was arrested, but police are still looking for the other man. he's been described as a hispanic or white male adult initially thought to be wearing a red shirt and late observed by security to have lost the red shirt and now wearing a green shirt if you have any information about this incident call secret witness at 322-4900. the nevada highway patrol says 55 year old melanie marnne-lawson was the woman killed in

between college parkway and arrowhead drive last friday. they say she was driving in the fast lane when she drove into the left shoulder. she overcorrected and drove across all the southbound lanes and hit a concrete wall. she was taken to a hospital where she died from her injuries. this crash is still under investigation. washoe county school officials are investigating some vandalism at sarah winnemucca elementary school over the weekend. police say someone broke into the school, but it's not clear if anything was taken. if you have any information, call the school or secret witness 322-4900. the funeral for nevada senator debbie smith will be at sparks high school this sunday at noon. smith died sunday from brain cancer. her family asks in lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the doctor marnie rose foundation, which supports brain tumor research. she began treatment for a malignant brain tumor one year ago. the democrat was was first elected to the state assembly in 2000 and won a seat in the senate in 2012.
