dust down. this givings you an idea what they were seeing on the ground. check thought picture. this is at i-10 and the loop 101. the interchange being consumed by all that dust. the thunder and then the hail, new video coming into our newsroom from maricopa, captured from one of our viewers at her home down there. >> we have been going all day, a live look fur right now on the cbs5 pinpoint doppler, rain all around the valley. lightning as well. we've gotten anywhere from about 0.10 to 0.25, and some heavy rain in the east valley,

and out in the west valley, moderate to light showers falling fur right notice. this system is packing some very strong winds with it as well. and it is moving toward the north northwest at 20 miles an hour. our wind gusts in the valley range from 25 to 45 miles an hour just in the last hour. we've still got a funnel of heho south. we're gonna be adding to the rainfall totals as we head into the evening. northern arizona as well. flagstaff through payson, show low, holbrook, you have been getting rain as well with this storm system. lots of lightning coming through for us as well. and move toward the north northwest. holbrook, strong gusty winds for you as well through this evening.

there. down south is where i want you to focus. the 60 looks bad. east valley commuters. we've got a string of traffic problems on the 60 interchange. and then take a look at the downtown area, westbound, eastbound i-10. the i-17 loop-around truck route through sky harbor. this is solid red. not because accidents. as the volume increases and the rain keeps falling, it's slowing down. we're gonna keep an eye on this traffic alert system as well. you can download our mobile app. we have crews across the

>> reporter: right now the rain is coming down pretty heavily. it's raining for about an hour. this is the hardest we've seen it come down since we've been out here. it's coming sideways at us right now because the wind is picking up and the temperature is dropping. it's getting kind of chilly out here! take a look mind me at the traffic that's moving. you can see some of the flags and palm trees behind us, just how strong the winds are. a lot of traffic is still moving pretty regularly despite the wind coming down, the water pooling on the side of the road. this is definitely the hardest we've seen it rain out here so far. be safe if you're driving tonight. getting a little chilly, starting to get dark. no gusts though. we saw that earlier this afternoon. once it started raining, that passed by. we do want to show you some

the new video. but they do want to talk with them. the reward set at $30,000. police in south carolina say a woman missing since august has been found alive. but the conditions are absolutely sickening. she was chained like a dog around the neck and locked inside of a metal container. this case has ties to our state. investigators found her locked inside of a metal storage container, and she had been locked in there for two months. she was discovered when deputies heard her banging on the container. her boyfriend who disappeared at the same time has not been found. and now authorities believe that they could be dealing with a serial killer. >> and this person told us that

we've been in the arcadia neighborhood most of the day. and the rain has been coming down consistently for the better part of 40, 45 minutes now. we came here because it was really a story about the wind that brought us here. early today just wind howling through the area. the palm trees looked like they came right down on to which of this top -- on top of this honda accord. a real mess here. the rain is continuing to fall. so it looks like this storm in the over yet. >> reporting live from 40th and indian school. thufr. be sure -- thank you.

falling in mesa. it is moderate to light wind blowing for you. all of this rain is moving toward the west northwest. it's moving at about 20 miles an hour right now, strong wind, and isolated lightning out there. we have outer bands storm. it's possible -- some developing behind this interim storm system and moving our direction.

down. in downtown phoenix, about .16 of an inch. south mayor cope arc close to almost an inch of rain. winds coming out of the southwest are sustained, relatively calm. gusts, 21 miles an hour in sedona. in the phoenix area, 35 to 45 miles an hour. that storm isna our current temperature, not gila bend, that's not right. i'm tom o'halleran, and i approve this messsage. paul babeu oversaw a place of horrors as headmaster of a school for at-risk youth. students were denied basic human rights and were subject to sexual abuse. arizona deserves better. arizona's largest newspapers endorse tom o'halleran for congress.
