3 (bill)>> in education news ... nevada has hammered out a contract with an oregon computer manufacturer to get laptops in the hands of thousands of middle schoolers. the state announced a deal this week with beaverton-based "c-t-l" to help implement the new "nevada ready 21" program authorized by the legislature. schools can apply for competitive grants that will be awarded in march. teachers and principals will get training this spring on how to use the computers as teaching tools, and students will receive laptops next school year.the program is aimed at teaching students the skills they'll need to succeed in college and their future careers. 3 (samantha)>> a local charter school that helps high school students get back on track to graduate could be shutting down because of lack of funding.according to the washoe county school district .. rainshadow charter school has been on probation for a while now because they didn't have the proper funds.the school board met tuesday and the charter school gave a presentation to board members that was supposed to include a contingency plan for the school.but no decision was made during that meeting for

3 (bill)3 >> on the crime watch this morning... a third person is behind bars in connection with the shooting death of a carson city teenager. carson city sheriff's detectives say 21-year -old reed skenandore (scan-en-door) fired a handgun at the victim... 18-year -old grant watkins. detectives say skenandore's motive was likely an attempt to rob watkins of marijuana that he was trying to sell.he is being held without bail. two teenage brothers have already been arrested ... jesus and allen garcia- manriquez. they were booked on the charges of "principal to murder," and maintaining a drug house. authorities say they are likely to make more arrests related to this case. 3 (samantha)>> a juvenile is behind bars this morning.. after police say he burglarized a home.washoe county sheriff deputies say a golden valley homeowner called police yesterday after seeing

3 (samantha)3 >> check this out .. a police chase in montana.. ended in dramatic fashion yesterday afternoon .. right outside of n-b-c affiliate k-e-c-i-'s doors ..and the entire incident was caught on tape !officials say the chase started when a woman was seen driving recklessly. police said she took off when they tried to pull her over. security footage caught the car eventually coming to a stop on the sidewalk .. right next to the station. the driver bailed out of her car and attempted to get into the building through the side door, putting the affiliate on lockdown.when police arrived .. the woman tried to get back in her vehicle. officers surrounded the car and the woman was finally taken into custody.

the victim, grant watkins. his motive was an attempt to rob watkins of marijuana he was trying to sell. two teenager brothers have also been arrested. jesus and garcia maquinez. officers, reason owe police officers say the-year-old daniel pancake is accused of stabbing his wife to death in a domestic fight back in 2014. the pancake was found capable of standing trial after his public defender james leslie questioned his mental ability. he's set for another hearing at the washington district court.

it costs $100 to send someone to jail and it costs $19 to send them to cross roads. a local charter school that helps students to graduate from high school could be shutting down because of the lack of money. rain shadow charter school has been on probation for a while now, because they didn't have enough funding. they gave a presentation to board members about a contingency plan for the school but nothing was decided for the future. a decision could be made on january 2th. oregon manufacturer will get thousands of laptops into schools. there's a program that has been authorized by the legislature. schools can apply for competitive grants that can be awarded in march.

by that morning once again. we have snow in sierra as we head into the evening hours. this is around the evening rush hour tonight. you're looking at snow in much of the sierra, spill over snow showers in eastern nevada and a few spillover rain and snow showers from western nevada, you can see the shadowing effect there too as the moisture rides up over the mountains. it doesn't make it over the western nevada, we'll continue to watch that pattern into the night tonight. more and more snow and rain showers will make their way into western nevada by the overnight hours t by tomorrow morning, things will quiet down for us with more moisture on the rain for saturday. we're not done now and there's more on the seven-day forecast, we talked about the sierra and we'll head to northeastern nevada. two to five inches of snow in the mountains.
