at about 7:45 saturday night... to find 40-year-old "dennis michael wright, junior" suffering from at least one gunshot wound to the chest.wright was taken to the hospital... where he later died.detectives say he and his female companion... 45-year- old "kendra ghiorso" ... drove to the motel to deliver 100 pounds of marijuana. 3 (bill)>> police say the homicide was a result of that drug deal.. but they are still looking for several suspects that may have been responsible for the shooting.anyone with information is asked to contact the south lake tahoe police department... 3 (samantha)>> secret witness is offering a reward... for anyone with information about a a tal hit and run crash that happened early saturday morning.police say it occurred just before 6:00 a- m... at fourth and spokane streets in reno.officers believe the man was *legally crossing fourth street... when a fast- driving vehicle hit him.they say that driver did not have their headlights on.the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. 3 (samantha)>> the man's

river corridor. news 4's jaime hayden talked to police down by the river ....and shares this report. 3 ((sot lt. shaw: "we just want people to be informed of the dangers, it is illegal to camp along the river, this is one of many reasons why."the truckee river in reno peaked nearly 8 feet saturday morning ... about 3 feet below flood stage ... according to the national weather service.so reno police were out along the truckee river corridor reminding the homeless population about the dangers of camping along the banks.sot lt. shaw: "when the river starts flowing pretty fast we don't want to see people in the river because the flow rate is very dangerous, to mention this water is very cold and it doesn't take very long for people to become hypothermic, the fire department runs an excellent river rescue team and we dont want to have to see them utilize that today so that is really the purpose of our outreach and education."the river peaked at nearly 3200 cubic feet per second saturday morning ... the strongest flow in more than three years.sot lt. shaw: "nevada is prone to flash floods and we don't want to see anyone injured."lt.

report with the exception of the reno airport, most of these reports are as of -- p.m. yesterday. updated numbers could come out later today. this is as of 6:00 p.m. from different areas through the viewing area. we know 1 inches of snow, 9 inches at virginia. carson city 8 as well. golden valley at 7. ski reports will come out around 6:30, 7:00 this morning. we'll bring you those as we get those as wall. the high today, it's chilly one. not really looking for any new snow out there. just partly cloudy skies, highs in the 30s and 20s. northwest winds 10 to 15. gusts as high as 50 miles per hour. that could glow around the snow that's alreadyton ground. that will reduce visibility on your commute. heads up for that. just tough roads in general because of the ice and snow already on the roads. the storm system itself is gone. it's wrap up, moved down to the east. snow and run across southern nevada now.

general motors is -- first to put self-driving cars into high gear. the company is dedicating a vehicle team that starts working today. it will be led by one of gm's vice presidents. the latest in a strategy to make gm is leader in self-driving technology. self-driving cars are not just a concept -- the company sees them as something that can work in the real world. toyota halting production at assembly plants in japan for a week because of a parts shortage. the shortage caused by an explosion last month at a facility one of its suppliers. the gas is believed to have been caused bay gas leak. it will run from february 8th to february 13th. the auto maker produced 3.2 million vehicles last year. that's an average more than 60,000 cars. ride sharing company lyft has launched a deal. you may remember the airport

hundreds of plumbers volunteered to replace a few sets sunday. three hundred plumers spread out around the city to start replacing a few sets and installing new water filters. residents have been depending on water bottles since the city switched the water. homeowners say they're very thankful for the repairs, and the plumbers say they're happy to help the place they call home. plumbers say the homes they worked on received state issued filters, but residents should still have their water regularly tested for lead. authorities in canada say an avalanche that killed five in british columbia was human caused. but the exact cause of friday's huge snowslide is still under investigation. rescuers said saturday 150 snowmobilers were in the area at the time. those cut up in the avalanche were said to be experienced, and most dug each other out. at least 50 people died when three explosions rocked a to burr, of damascus,
