bay bridge. not only because of the fog but there's also a problem on yerba buena island on the lower deck. i did speak with the people at caltrans, they do not know the cause of the problem but they have dispatched an electrician to the scene. they have been on seen for about 15 minutes trying to diagnose the problem. reports are, near yerba buena island there are no lights. with your headlights that should not create a huge problem but it is an area of concern. there are a number of bridge advisories in effect this morning. in

the early morning hours the san mateo bridge did have a fog the advisory but that has been lifted. on the san mateo bridge there had been a fogged advisory but no more. things have cleared out. it is the golden gate bridge that is quite foggy this morning. the chp has not issued an advisory the you can see that visibility is definitely down as he had across the stand. a quick check on the road sensors. there is some slowing through franklin cameron-- franklin canyon. interstate 80, still a good ride. the north bay riot through marin county is still moving well from nevada to the golden gate bridge. let's get a check on whether including more information about the

fog. >>erica: i want to head back to the golden gate bridge, it is completely shrouded in fog. visibility is less than a mile. the fog is digging in the north bay and along the coast. we have temperatures sitting in the '50s. as we make our way into the afternoon we will see upper 50s and low 60s. we have a slight potential for rain in the north bay tomorrow, more on that in your extended forecast. fog tracker 4 shows visibility has improved somewhat in places like santa rosa. the

started around 2:30 a.m. when a private security guard came to his apartment telling him to turn down his radio. according to the san jose police department a believe he has held himself in his apartment with a machete. >>justine: the woman accused

of dropping her toddler out of 01 on christmas day will have her arraignment today. she will not face attempted murder charges but instead she will face child abuse charges. the 22 month old boy it survived the fall with only bombs and bruises. police say she has a history of mental illness. >>mark: fire crews are investigating what the cause of a firefighter--what the cause of a fire was. during the fire, collect zero wires fell onto one of the fire trucks. the fire chief explains how that power line came down and have the firefighters were able to

buena island. >>mark: 20 people have been killed following a huge fire and several explosions. fire officials say that the blast occurred as firefighters were putting out the fire at a warehouse. 16 warehouses were destroyed.

saw him inside with it then. instead of getting better, more police officers and personnel are arriving on the scene to keep an eye on the situation. in their words, he is crazy. it's the situation started around 2:30 a.m. when a security guard came to tell him he needed to turn down his music. he told the security guard, you better get out of here before something bad happens. this situation is continuing to unfold. by the way, this is not a hostage situation.

>>justine: another developing story is that the lights are out on the lower deck of the bay bridge. >>george: we are continuing to track a hot spot on the bay bridge. as you can see, the incline section has disappeared. this is the traffic headed westbound and this is the traffic headed eastbound on the lower deck of the bay bridge. it was reported that the lights are out near yerba buena island affecting the lower deck and eastbound ride. we have confirmed that electricians are on the scene tried to find the source of the problem. the chp also tells me this has not created any delay for the eastbound ride. they say because it is early morning, people already have on their headlights. the visibility

clear conditions 5:03 p.m.. your 7 day around the bay forecast shows temperatures mostly in the '60s. pretty mild in the afternoon. more sunshine for saturday at the start of 2012. we have a lot of sunshine on tap and temperatures that reached the upper 60s. >>mark: a story out of the berkeley hills where fire crews are starting to figure out the cause of this three alarm fire that destroyed two homes and prompted evacuations. here is video. the what about the block of miller ave. a power line fell on one of the fire engines. all the firefighters had to abandon that engine and get another end and on the scene. the cruise revel to keep everyone safe.

are still pretty green on most of the roadway sensors. there are no problems as he worked around the bay area. you're right on highway 1 01 through marin county, we're showing green on most of the roadway sensors. the esa is reporting flights delayed up to one hour 5 minutes. the fog is hugging the coast line. take a look at some of the east bay inland areas.
