police and demonstrators had a violent clash on campus yesterday. a city college of san francisco students were processed protesting at an administrative building at the ocean avenue campus three dozen storm the building just after noon. two students were arrested in that confrontation. they're all protesting policies the school has implemented. the new rules require students to pay for fees in full or sign up for payments before registering for classes. and now, students and some faculty members are asking for a special trustee behind the change to resign. the next to set for 1230 today ahead of the board of supervisors committee hearing which is calling for the reinstatement of city college's board of trustees. >>james: dog owners are

the report reviewed the cases of 29- patients, and found the hospital was in compliance with most policies and procedures. the hospital says, it is pleased with the results because it shows no deficiencies in the quality of care. but the mcmath family attorney says, this report does not absolve the hospital of wrongdoing. chris dolan is the attorney for the family of jahi mcmath. he says this report actually is designed to see if the hospital has systems in place and is following required guidelines as for jahi who was declared brain dead, dolan says since the family moved her to an undisclosed facility, her condition has

425 on the clock. new rules are in the works to protect student at for-proft colleges from accumulating huge debt they can't afford. the obama administration would penalize programs that produce graduates without the training needed to find a job with a salary that will allow them to pay off their debt. all schools, for-profit or not, that don't comply would lose access to the federal student aid programs. the regulations would take effect in 2016 overtime pay will soon come to millions more american workers.

president obama signed an order thursday to expand time-and-a-half pay to salary workers. right now, salaried workers who make more than 450 dollars a week.about 24- thousand a year.do not qualify for overtime.even if they work more than 40 hours a week. opponents to the plan say the new rules could cause small business to cut worker's hours.and even make fewer hires. the secretary of labor is now tasked with how to make the president's order happen. so the new overtime rules won't likely go into effect until next year. mcdonald's is facing seven lawsuits which could potentially affect as many as 30- thousand workers, including employees in the bay area. the lawsuits accuse the fast food chain. of refusing to pay overtime, and forcing employees to work off the clock. the lawsuits also claim mcdonald's denies workers meal breaks, and requires them to buy their own uniforms, or pay to have them cleaned. employees at mcdonalds's restaurants in fremont and oakland have joined the lawsuit.

we're coming up on 4-30. here are the big stories we're working on for you this morning. a teenage father is accused of a horrifying attack on his one -month- old infant -- biting part of the baby's nose off. 18-year-old joshua cooper of fairfield was booked into solano county jail yesterday on suspicion of child cruelty and aggravated mayhem. students at city college of san francisco. are planning to rally and occupy an administration building today. they're protesting policies the school has implemented. including new rules requiring students to pay their fees in full before registering for classes. and firefighters remain at the san francisco apartment building under construction. that went up in flames tuesday. some evacuated residents from nearby buildings. are being allowed to return home. many residents evacuated from the apartment buildings. across the street from tuesdays blaze, got the word they could return to their homes. a steady stream of people could be seen wheeling in their luggage. and carrying their pets back home. those we spoke to. were still a little shaken by their experience, but happy they are no longer couch surfing with friends or family.

and for the kron4 tech reporter with a slate. good morning i met the ucsf medical center campus in san francisco. i spoke with doctors to just completed a new study on electronic cigarettes and what they found is pretty disturbing. one of the elements of the study is that the cigarettes could be a gateway to condition no cigarettes for twins and teenagers. >>: the main concern is that the adolescent brain is so vulnerable to nicotine

in court this morning. jennie zhu is charged with 3 felony counts in total, 1 count of gross vehicular manslaughter and 2 counts of reckless driving causing injury. prosecutors say zhu was speeding through san francisco's lower pacific heights neighborhood at more than 70 miles per hour when she crashed in to a mini van at the corner of gough and pine streets. killing the 16-year-old and injuring his mother and sister. hundreds are expected on hand today to protest what they say are unfair wage cuts in hayward. according to the employees. since 2010, hayward workers have seen their pay cut by up to 27%. they plan to march from hayward bart, around hayward loop, to city hall. the event begins today at 5:00 at the hayward bart station. alameda county water district board has declared a water shortage emergency. what added to our weather. pay erica. >>erica: warmest greetings

antolin- garcia torres is charged with kidnapping and murdering the teen. he pleaded *not guilty last month. his trial will begin later this year. the battle over a sonoma county tree could be coming to an end. standing 52- feet tall this tree, which is called a "ghost redwood".is in danger of being removed after officials called it a safety hazard. experts say the tree is so rare. that it is only one of 10 in existence. the tree would stand too close to the tracks of the new sonoma- marin rail transit line in the town of cotati. however.members of the community say they have come to an agreement with public works officials to get the tree relocated. tree advocates and officials are meeting today to decide on a new place for the tree. construction starts today on san francisco's dolores

park, part of which is shut down. the northern half of the park is being renovated. you are looking at the new changes set to be made to the park. including doubling the number of restrooms. and improved off-leash dog areas. it's going to be phenomenal. the closure is expected to last 7- months. then, the southern half of the park will close. for it's turn for a facelift. however the playground area of the park will remain open the entire time. following up on a story we told you about yesterday morning: the city of oakland has broken ground on a new waterfront community development project. the one-point-five-billion- dollar project. called "brooklyn basin". is being built on the oakland estuary, just south of jack london square. once completed, the 64-acre industrial space will be transformed into a vibrant neighborhood with a mix of condos, apartments, retail space and city parks. it is estimated the project will bring in thousands of jobs.

a transgender high school student has been nominated to be one of grand marshals in the san francisco pride parade. jewlyes gutierrez attends hercules middle high school. gutierrez was recently involved in a fight at the school as seen in this video. she is seen in the white dress. she was the first to slap a girl after.what she described.as months of being picked on. after the slap several girls began attacking gutierrez. everyone involved in the fight was suspended. gutierrez is only one known to be facing charges. tickets for that inaugural earthquakes soccer match at levi stadium go on sale this morning at 10 am. the august 2nd match against the seattle sounders will mark the first event at the new stadium and be the

we really wanted to explore the possibility and see if it's even possible. now we have the first step of an improvement were going to see how we can pull it off. heading into the five o'clock hour we have some new video we wanted to show you. a wild police chase and takedown in arizona. police say the suspect hit a mother and her son who were in that white van you just saw. the mother says she didn't even know what happened until the airbag hit her in the face. an off duty officer ended up tackling the suspect, along with several other officers who were closeby. at one point during the

chase, he was going 90 miles per hour and in the wrong direction when he hit the other vehicle. the mother and son are expected to survive. in south carolina. just released video of a 70 year old man who is shot by an officer during a traffic stop. you can see the man got out of his truck and appeared to be reaching for a weapon. that's when the officer opened fire. but it turns out, the man was reaching for his cane! in the video, the officer is heard crying. the man survived the shooting. and take a look at this video. what looks like someone who smashed a car window was actually caused by falling ice. this happened in chicago. a two by two foot sheet of ice fell off a building and onto the car, shattering the windshield. the driver was in the car that was moving at the time. she wasn't hurt but says the ice fell on her lap and all over the place.
