suspect. >> reporter: they say at 4:16 a suspect arrived at the airport. then they discovered this later in the day. 11:00 p.m. in the evening, they staked out the apartment building. the suspect returned 4:50 in the morning. they challenged him. he fired. >> they returned fire. he was killed. he was most likely the man who attacked at the freedom of speech event and trying to gain entrance to the event there. one person killed and three people injured. two intelligence officers and one policeman. bodyguards who returned fire. >> hijacked a a car. had appeared to take a train somewhere. then he attacked a guard and two policemen outside of a synagogue. what he did between that and

sunday morning. temperatures for the most part in the 40s and 50s. 43 degrees in vallejo and richmond. and west palm a high of upper 407s in the south bay. now we head into the afternoon. we are looking at the possibility of breaking an if you records yet again and temperatures will back off a bit as we head into early next week. dry conditions remain in the forecast. full details on what to expect in a few minutes. marty. >> we turn to world news. it started in the ukraine one minute after midnight. accusations were being made that both sides had broken the agreement. they had fired artillery shortly after the agreement was supposed to take effect. since then, they said the fighting has subsided and for the most part, the truce is holding. understand the agreement that was struck last week, if it holds, both sides will begin pulling away heavy weapons to

form a buffer seep from them. so far the conflict in the ukraine has claimed 3500 lives. a humanitarian was killed in the middle east. the vigil was at flag staff for kayla mueller. she was killed while being held captive by the islamic militants. >> a close friend of mueller said they were learning how to channel the grief. she was killed by the attacks by jordan. but they say they don't know how she was exactly killed. crews are still trying to clean up after a massive 2-alarm fire. mike pelton is live there with an update on the clean up. mike? >> reporter: well, good morning, anny. we are investigating them on the scene today to determine

the cause of the fire. a fire engine is on the scene making sure no hot spots pop up. we will get a much better look at all the damage. this is an industrial warehouse that housed a lot of rubber and carpentry materials and they worked on the hot spots over the 24 hours. it started yesterday morning. fire officials say an employee showed up to work. smelled smoke and called 911. within minutes, they erupted to five alarms and required seven different agencies to respond. smoke billowed into the air. fire was contained to the one building which has two businesses inside. the blaze likely started at a seat covering business and then an auto repair facility is also in the building. we spoke to the family who owned that part of the building. they said they kept a lot of inventory in there as well as collection of classic cars. all of which burned in the

. welcome back. it you are just joining us, here are the stories we are working on today. in copenhagen, they shot and killed a plan who is supposed to be responsible for the two deadly attacks on the danish capital. it was at a cafe during a free speech rally. then 10 hours later, there was a deadly shooting in copenhagen. this is near a synagogue. one person died from his wounds. two police officers hit by gunfire. they are expected to recover.

france's foreign minister released a statement today saying our heart is with copenhagen. crews are cleaning up after a massive fire is cleaning up. the 2-alarm fire broke out in the custom car shop on commercial street and barely before 7:00 in the morning. it took them two and a half hours to contain the blaze. numerous flare ups prevented them from entering a building. 200 homes were evacuated and most of the inventory was destroyed including 10 collector cars. no injuries reported and the cause of the fire is still under investigation. today is your last chance to enroll for 2015 coverage under the affordable care act. the deadline set for tonight at midnight is pushed back. you have until friday the 20th to enroll for health insurance and that is for people who have started the

afternoon, we will see plenty of 70s across the board. most locations well above average. between 10 and 15-degree it is warmer than where we should be. with that said. oakland hitting a high of 78. we could pull some 70s out in concord. and hitting a high of 72. some locations warmer today than they would typically be in the summer. we will see 70s today if you are head willing down to half moon bay or later on today. very different forecast ahead. we will talk about the beach weather. if you are taking a day trip to santa cruz. and in monterey and it is warmer and closer to the bay. you don't have to go far. bodega bay. and half moon bay. 70 degrees out in ocean beach. lots of sunshine. clear skies expected. we will truck more about the rain. for the season, we have seen anywhere from 11 inches from

fire. access has been one of the biggest headaches for firefighters over the past 24 hours. you can see a lot of carpeting material here inside this building. that made it very difficult for firefighters to get inside over the past 24 hours and find all of those hot spots. fire crews responded yesterday morning around 7:00 near the intersection of commercial street. several different fire agencies responded as the blaze went to five alarms, because the building houses carpeting and industrial materials, thick smoke billowed high into the air, eventually forcing the evacuation of those living down wind. the businesses that burned include a car upholstery business, and in the back is part of a car stereo company called alpha sound usa. they kept inventory in the back part of the burned building, along with a collection of at least a half dozen classic

copenhagen were inspired by last months attacks in paris. >> one of the victims has identified as a documentary film-maker. police are still on the scene this morning where a man suspected of those two shootings was shot and skilled by police. the first shooting happened saturday morning, and the second just after midnight this morning. nick robinson is in copenhagen with more on how police tracked down the suspect. reporter: police say that surveillance camera footage directed them to this apartment at the end of the street. they say at 4:16 in the afternoon, the suspect say rived at the apartment. a few minutes later, at 4:37, he left the apartment. the police discovered this later in the day, so 11:00 p.m. in the evening, they staked out the apartment building. they say the suspect returned at about 4:50 in the morning are. they challenged him, he shot at them. they returned fire, and he was killed. they believe he is most likely the man who attacked in the freedom of speech event, firing

about 30 rounds into the window, trying to gain entrance to the event there. one person killed, three injured. the people injured, two intelligence officers and one policeman, bodyguards who returned fire. he escaped from that venue, hijacked a car, left the car, appeared to have taken a train somewhere. police then say that he attacked a guard, killing him and two policemen outside a synagogue. what he did in between that and arriving a at the apartment building here is, at the moment, unclear, but for the time being, the police believe now that they most likely have killed the suspect behind these two attacks that is left two people dead, and five injured. nick roberson, copenhagen, denmark. this morning, you can see the danish prime minister took time to lay flowers at the synagogue where that second shooting happened. we'll keep you updated on kron4.com and through our facebook and twitter pages.

days. new details abeauty plot to open fire at a mall in canada. police there in halifax were able to stop the shooting before it happened, and now police are releasing more information about the suspects. angela mcgaveer has the details a. >> reporter: police say it was the halifax shopping center was the intend target of a mass shooting on this valentine's day. >> second guess coming here, but decided to come anyway, but it's scary. you hear about all of this stuff happening all over the world, and you never think it's going to happen here. reporter: police didn't reveal the alleged target publicly until mid-afternoon, that's when the rcmp and halifax regional police announced two people face charges to commit murderrier. lindsay kantha souvannarath, and randall steven shepherd. both were arrested friday morning at the halifax international airport.

examples. >> san francisco supervisor malia cohen joins us and to talk about her desire to create a task force. tell us what you are hoping the task force will accomplish. >> sure. let's put this in context. when we're talking about violence and the epidemic, its something happening nationally, not just here in san francisco. we're feeling the pressure locally because we live here, and that's where our commitment and our hearts are, but there are approximately 350,000 acts of violence nationally that guns are involved in. and is here in san francisco, we're just paying an acute attention to what's happening on our streets, because it affects us and our quality of life. >> so what will this task force do and who will be on it? >> sure. so the task force is comprised of about 13 spaces, and there were professional seats, and there are seats available, 7 of them, for community members sworn there are seats for are the department of public health, so that there is a mental health component, an

educator, someone from adult probation, the police department, the sheriff's department, our law enforcement community, as well as what is really important are folks from the community. so a victim, a victim of gun violence, someone who has perpetrated gun violence. someone who is a service provider in this area. my goal is really to develop a comprehensive body that will help us begin to look critically at what is happening with gun violence in san francisco, ultimately to come to a zero shooting goal. >> one thing that i'm sure the law enforcement community would bring up as part of this task force is police staffing levels which have been low throughout the past several years. >> yes, absolutely, you're right. so when -- a task force seasonal a fraction. it's not a panacea to solve everything, so i'm looking at the total composite of what thought is looking like. so in part of that discussion, i'm joined with supervisor

scott leemer to look at our staffing levels. the charter man dates that 1,970 officers serve through the san francisco police department. >> from back in the e700s, right? >> exactly. that was back in the '70s. so as we know, we are feeling an economic boom. our city is growing son shouldn't our police department also grow? so these are are the kind ofs conversations we're looking at, to make sure that our population is -- our population growth is in line with our police force. >> and how will the police forcing funded? >> the funding will come through public dollars, general fund dollars. one thing you should know that is really interesting is that folks are not going to be serving to be paid. this is a volunteer capacity. many of the city staff are obviously already compensated, but i called for a comprehensive budget report a few weeks ago, and what was very interesting was that the

city spends $208 millionle in the last five years. so our problem is not a money issue. we spent $48 million just last year on violence prevention. our challenge is as a city, and that we've got 11 departments that spread out and spend this money, but there's no uniform definition of what exactly is violence prevention. there's no metric that we universally agree upon to evaluate whether or not our programs and our department heads are meet it will the mark. >> part of the area of the city that you represent is the bay view, and there's a lot of changes ahead in the bay view, led by the renovation, or the destruction, first of all, of candlestick and renovation of the neighborhood there. >> you're right. it's not just the bay, it's the entire corner of the bay. candlestick park is going to come down. recently, the ocii commission and the develop arer came to

the agreement that along with the community, that they will dismantle the stadium piece by piece over a period of time. and so as you know, from it being widely reported that the future of candlestick is going to be a mixed use community, the best part about this lenr development is not only a reenvisioning the southeastern corridor, but also the rebuild of public housing. that's president absolutely critical. alex griff sitting going to be rebuilt with zero displacement. >> so what is the next step? >> sure. so the next step, the task force is law now, the mayor has signed it, and the first 90 days the task force is purpose is to develop a policy about what exactly their scope is going to be. they're going to produce a report of deduping a lot of the

admission -- duplication in the process. one thing i've heard about the bay view area as well as san francisco state may possibly be moving a campus there, and that has to be big news for people who are looking for bringing a neighborhood back up and revitalizing. >> absolutely. president les wong and i recently met earlier this week, and we've been having a series of focused conversations about what would the community like to see. now, we have a goal to get free college education to the forecasts in the bay view community, be those that take us up on the offer. so in the next two years, we're going to be building a new campus, state of the art, in the bay view community, in the back side of the shipyard development. >> and is that moving forward? is that a done deal, or are there still some discussions that need to take place before the first ground is broken in >> well, is it a did done deal?

police. copenhagen police did not release his name. the first shooting was at a cafe during a free speech rally yesterday. that's where one person was killed and three police officers were wounded expect and then later that night, there it was another deadly shooting near a synagogue. one person died from the wounds there. two police officers also hit by gunfire, but they are expected to recover. officers say they found an automatic weapon that may have been used in one of the attacks. >> plus back in the bay area, crews are still cleaning up after this massive fire that destroyed 20th businesses in san jose. the five alarm fire broke out at a custom carp shop and up holtry business shortly before 7:00 yesterday morning. it took firefighters about two and a half hours to contain the blaze. roughly 200 homes were evacuated as a precaution. most of the inventory was destroyed, including 1010 personal collector cars valued at over a million dollars. no journeys were reported, and the cause of the fire is still
