"safe and sane" fireworks are legal in some cities. however in contra costa county, they are illegal everywhere you go. kron four's alecia reid takes a look at the stiff penalties

you'll face if you're caught breaking the law. fireworks are always illegal in contra costa county. but that doesn't stop people from lighting themthe fire protection district warns, if caught, there are serious consequences.pkgwarning signs are posted along the wild cat canyon trails. but families living nearby say every year, there are people that set off fireworks in the area. with all the dry brush, it can be disastrous.bala larson - anyone that's you know, heard about the oakland fire, it's definitely scarycaptain george laing says there are numerous amounts of injuries that occur each year because of fireworks.. and crews are stretched thin on the fourth because of fires due to the "setting off" of illegal fireworks.our units will receive multiple dispatches in one call, multiple addresses with multiple responses, and there normally will be more than one apparatus going to some kind of incident, and we'll be down to one except for very critical incidents keep in mind there could be felony charges associated with an arrest if someone is injured or property is damaged. it'll also cost you a pretty penny.you'll be liable for all the costs of fire protection. for example if we

( james ) in san francisco. pyro technicians have finished setting up for the big fourth of july fireworks show tonight. they loaded 15 to 20 tons of explosive material into morters which are being wired up. as usual... there will be two barges... one will be out near aquatic park and the other at pier 39. the show will go off at 9:30 with roughly 10- thousand effects going off... in just 25 minutes. ( james ) if you plan on taking bart into the city to

see the fireworks tonight, keep in mind trains will be running on a weekend schedule. that means they won't be running as often as they do on a normal tuesday. however, bart will be running longer trains to accommodate the larger crowds coming in for the fireworks show. it will also run longer trains during the day because the a's will be playing at the coliseum. their game starts at 1:00. 'july 4-th live' kicks off tonight at 9, right here on the bay area's news station. ( james ) police are investigating a wave of vandalism in berkeley . more than two dozen people had spray paint on their property or their tires slashed.. officers were called to a home on hillside avenue wednesday for a report of vandalism. a victim's car was spray painted and police who

responded ultimately counted 13 cars and gates nearby that had been vandalized. officers discovered over 14 other cases of vandalism in the same area. police believe that all cases may be related ( james ) police in san jose are now investigating a deadly shooting and the killer is still on the loose this morning. it happened last night when officers were performing a welfare check on south tenth street. (ááátriggerááá) police found one woman with at least one gun-shot wound. she was pronounced dead at the scene. there is no possible motive behind the shooting. the woman's identity is not being released at this time. ( james ) a heartbroken mother with a message for the man accused in the deadly hit and run crash that killed two of her children and injured another. it happened in concord. kron four's ella sogomonian has the story. the mom tells me her three month old son lucca is in

critical condition after a hit and run crash caused by a man she calls a coward that should never see the light of day. pkg (nat: "he blindsided me, i never saw it happening.")an east bay family crowded the oakland children's hospital monday in support of aida reyes.the mother lost her 5 and 10-year-old sons vincent rothenberg and lorenzo reyes in a horrific hit and run crash saturday night on highway 4 on ramp in concord. sot: aida reyes, mother // "i wish i perished along with my children so i could be with them. but i have to be strong and i have to be here for my baby." 35-year-old lumuel wilson is accused of running off after the crash. c-h-p investigators wilson checked into highland hospital where they linked his dna to evidence found at the scene. and add wilson has had at least one dui before.sot: olga miranda, family friend// "thank god for the hospital workers that chose to call the authorities when they did. otherwise the injustice, the guy still wouldn't have turned himself in." sot: aida reyes, mother // "and for anybody who is supportive of this person. i say come see my baby in the icu. come see my children in the morgue. and then stand behind this person."tag the family is urging the contra costa county district attorney to revoke a bail option for wilson.live in oakland ella

( james ) the c-h-p has found the big rig driver they believe was behind a deadly hit-and-run crash in the east bay. we first broke this story yesterday on the kron 4 morning news. that incident was just one of two deadly crashes along interstate-80 in san pablo. kron four's spencer blake has the latest. at about 4 a-m, a car driving westbound on i-80 near san pablo dam road spun out of control, and came to a stop facing the wrong way near the median.the driver, lindche tran, got out and tried to get to safety, but the lights on her wrecked car were out, so

another car couldn't avoid hitting her.tran died there on the highway."that's terrible; i feel sorry for their family." the two people in the other car had minor injuries.i spoke with a neighbor who lives near the pedestrian bridge that stretches over this part of the interstate."you see a lot of accidents or anything?oh yeah, i hear 'em all the time. i hear 'em all the time.""less than 15 minutes had passed after that first wreck was cleared up before tragedy struck again."and look how close the second crash was to the site of the first.it was almost 6:30 when a motorcyclist, nicholas brown, got hit by a big-rig truck."in the morning definitely when they come down this hill, and they're just flying."he was thrown from his bike, and died. the truck driver stopped for a few minutes, but then took off. c-h-p tried to find the hit- and-run driver, and thanks to tips from the public, officers did track him down.they say he's cooperating with their investigation.in san pablo, spencer blake, kron four news. ( james ) a fairfield child drowned over the weekend at a solano county beach. it happened saturday at sandy beach in rio vista, about a

mile south of the rio vista bridge. the 7-year-old boy who was not wearing a life vest was on a family outing and was in knee-deep water when he disappeared. the child was spotted soon afterward and his body was pulled from the water. ( james ) authorities all over california are stressing water safety.. this past weekend, a number of people had to be rescued from the stanislaus river. kay recede has advice to stay safe on the water.. summary: up and down the water are rafters, kayakers, adventurers. before you strap in and hold tight, understand the danger that is the stanislaus river."if you have no water experience whatsoever, i would still caution this probably isn't the best time to come out and try to sharpen any skill that you might have," battalion chief eric dehart with the stanislaus consolidated fire department said.chief dehart recommends you hire a professional guide."who have gone through swift water rescue, guide school, have everything prepared and have run many times since april of this year," says david voortman, the owner of river journey adventures.rescue crews said there a lot of dips, turns and debris that

can throw off even experienced rafters."right below that there's a really gnarly looking beaver dam. sometimes what happens a lot of people get stuck on there," captain zack gardner, with the stanislaus consolidated fire department explained.the perilous water, has also proven fatal. fire fighters said a woman who was wearing a life vest drowned in the river last week and on sunday, nine people were thrown off a raft after it got entangled in some branches."it was actually sideways, pressed up against a tree and what happened was they actually got caught in an area they shouldn't have been and it ended up knocking all of them out," chief dehart said.if you decide to take on the challenge, be prepared, be safe."just to use a lot of common sense and use caution. it's not a good idea to come out and try to brave it in something that again, you might buy at a discount store," chief dehart explained. ( james ) a shocking crime is caught on camera near the crooked section of san francisco's lombard street. as kron 4's j.r stone says that people who live in the area say crime is on the rise. (j.r.)they're after your valuables. in the last week alone people in the area near lombard street have been victimized more than two dozen times.if you're headed to san francisco this july 4th holiday, specifically the crooked section of lombard street.listen up. thieves could be targeting you. this is all new surveillance video of a thief in action. it happened sunday on filbert street, two blocks from

lombard street. a family parks their car here. you can even see the woman who after exiting, puts her items back inside the car, closes the door, and walk towards the famous section of lombard street. a short time later this man shows up, immediately starts looking in the windowsat one point.glances down the street.goes back to the front seat.busts out the window and grabs what was in plain site.sot is pretty brazen about looking in and then smashing their window and grabbing something out of itjust from talking to the victims i learned it was a bag like a woman's purse with valuables.but this is hardly a rare thing near lombard street. tonight we've crime mapped this area and found at least 24 cases in the past seven days where cars have been broken into. that's within two blocks of the crooked section of the well known street and doesn't include an alleged robbery case that happened here at lombard and jones on sunday. sot there is usually an uptick of crime during the summer we're in the heart of summer right now school is out people are on vacation and coming to the city.jose leos says he does see officers at this lombard street location but feels as though thieves have spread out to nearby blocks. sot i've been here for 20 years and noticed a difference in the last couple of years where i've seen an increase in crime.since sunday this video has been viewed hundreds of times on jose's youtube page. there is online frustration from many living in the area when it comes to the police response to these type of crimes.sot when it ends up

being just a theft it ends up being a low priorityi just don't want it to escalate. (j.r.)officers recommend going to places like that with groups so someone can watch your back or watch your car when you're busy snapping photos. as to the thief in that video. he has not been caught. live in san francisco, j.r. stone kron 4 news. ( james ) even if you live in an area where 'safe and sane' fireworks are allowed, there are still some rules. kron four's charles clifford reports from sonoma county where police say they busted a couple with illegal fireworks.

in california, any fireworks that fly into the air or explode are illegal. safe and sane fireworks which can be flashy but stay on the ground are only allowed in a few places. . . like here in rhonert park. the california highway patrol says that most illegal fireworks they find are brought in from out of state.on sunday morning, a california chp officer pulled over a vehicle for weaving along highway 101 south of cotati. the driver had a suspended license and the passenger was wanted on an outstanding warrant. both were taken into custody. a search of their vehicle also uncovered illegal fireworks.sot while doing a routine inventory of the trunk he found about 14 mortar style fireworks and a couple roman candle type firworks that launch fireworks in the air. the fireworks, similar to these, were apparently large enough that the highway patrol felt compelled turned them over to the sonoma county sheriff's bomb unit. what's unclear at this point is where they got the fireworks.sotnot in california, so i assume they got em out of state.the driver and passenger are both now facing charges for possession of dangerous

fireworks.natswe got the family pack.meanwhile, in nearby rhonert park, the sale of legal fireworks continued at a brisk pace on monday. says he prefers the safe and sane kind to the illegal ones because they are safer, easier to handle and the money he spends at this fireworks stand goes to a good cause.sotthe teen center. it's a christian teen center so we are here to support them.finally, possession of illegal fireworks is a misdemeanor that can result in a 1000 dollar fine and up to a year in jail. in rhonert park, charels cliffor kron 4 news. ( james ) hundreds of demonstrators who are part of the university of illinois community held a vigil for missing student, ying-ying zhang. the man suspected of kidnapping her was spotted at the gathering.. reid binion has the story. the man accused of kidnapping a university of illinois grad student last month, was spotted at a vigil for yingying zhang, one day before his arrest.a photo taken by cnn correspondent kaylee hartung, shows brendt christensen casually leaning against a railing at the demonstration held on campus last thursday. christensen is barely visible behind hundreds of students, members of the

community, and even the missing student's family... but university police confirmed it is christensen. authorities say christensen had been under surveillance for almost two weeks, before he was caught on an audio recording explaining how he kidnapped zhang. those that know the former grad student, were shocked at his arrest lance cooper, director of graduate studies dept. of physics: "those that knew him are quite surprised. there was no hint of something like this." (((butt to))) porche holmes, suspect's neighbor: "i was freaking out because that's the guy that asked to help me. that's the guy that i talked to this morning."26- year-old zhang had only been in the u.s. for two months when she went missing june 9th. she was last seen getting into christensen's car on campus. he told investigators he picked her up because she appeared "distressed" and dropped her off a few blocks away.according to the criminal complaint against christensen, zhang is still missing, and presumed dead.the 28-year-old had his first court appearance monday, where he did not enter a plea. sharon paul, public information office for the us attorney's office for the central district of illinois: "he's been charged with kidnapping, and if convicted, the penalty is up to life in prison."an attorney for christensen asked the an open mind reid binion,

( james ) in colorado, passengers were evacuated from a united express plane after it's left engine caught on fire upon landing at denver's international airport more than 60 people were on board but no one was injured. the airport says the plane was reporting engine trouble after landing in denver fire crews managed to put out the flames and the incident did not affect other airport operations. a passenger went on twitter to thank the pilot and crew for helping everyon get off the burning plane safely. investigators are still looking into what caused the fire this morning. ( james ) a southern california father accused of killing his five year old son has pleaded not guilty. aramazd andressian junior went missing two months ago after police say he went to disneyland with his father. the boy's body was found on friday near a lake in santa barbara county. andressian senior was initially arrested then released in the boy's disappearance. detectives arrested him again last week in las vegas on suspicion of murder.

killing is a "tumultuous divorce". andressian is being held on 10-million dollars bail. ( james ) p-g-and-e is with a major lawsuit from valero. valero claims the utility company caused 75- million dollars in damage to the benicia refinery. the lawsuit stems back to a power outage in may. valero says p-g-and -e shut off its electricity without notice. the loss of power forced an emergency shutdown of the refinery and caused extensive flaring that sent black smoke billowing into the sky. valero was fined for that flaring. ( james ) tiger woods says he finished his rehabilitation program to help him manage his painkiller medications. woods checked into a 28-day treatment course at a center near his jupiter, florida home. this was the result of him being arrested at the wheel of his car. he described by police as "very dopey" on may 29th. woods says he will continue to use

stores.. but also at other types of businesses with a lot of daily foot traffic.. i don't know why amazon did this it comes off a little creepy to me. but they gave these lockers names.. like "gavin".amazon offers this service to their online shoppers for any time it's not convenient to deliver to their home. if you're concerned about your package being stolen after it's delivered and before you get to it .. this is a solution to that another use if you've ordered a gift for someone and you don't want them to see it when it arrives. stand up tech reporter gabe slate says: "and an advantage about using the lockers. you control when you pick it up.. you don't have to wait around for a package to be delivered and worry you're missing it." here's how it works.. when you are on the checkout screen on the website.. directly under your shipping address there is an option to pick up the item at an amazon locker. you are then shown a map with the locations and the hours

( james ) in the east bay... a three-month-old baby boy who was caught a deadly hit and run crash has improved from critical to stable condtion. his five-year-old and ten-year-old brothers died in that crash late friday night in concord. the two boys have been identified as vincent and lorenzo reyes. the children's mother was also at one point in critical condition... but has since been released from the hospital. 35-year-old lumuel wilson is accused of running off after the crash. wilson later checked into highland hospital in oakland where investigators linked his d-n-a evidence found at the scene. the family is urging the contra costo county district attorney to revoke the bail option for wilson.

( james ) a shocking crime is caught on camera near the crooked section of san francisco's lombard street. as kron 4's j.r stone explains... people who live in the area say crime is on the rise. (j.r.)they're after your valuables. in the last week alone people in the area near lombard street have been victimized more than two dozen times.if you're headed to san francisco this july 4th holiday, specifically the crooked section of lombard street.listen up. thieves could be targeting you. this is all new surveillance video of a thief in action. it happened sunday on filbert street, two blocks from lombard street. a family parks their car here. you can even see the woman who after exiting, puts her items back inside the car, closes the door, and walk towards the

famous section of lombard street. a short time later this man shows up, immediately starts looking in the windowsat one point.glances down the street.goes back to the front seat.busts out the window and grabs what was in plain site.sot is pretty brazen about looking in and then smashing their window and grabbing something out of itjust from talking to the victims i learned it was a bag like a woman's purse with valuables.but this is hardly a rare thing near lombard street. tonight we've crime mapped this area and found at least 24 cases in the past seven days where cars have been broken into. that's within two blocks of the crooked section of the well known street and doesn't include an alleged robbery case that happened here at lombard and jones on sunday. sot there is usually an uptick of crime during the summer we're in the heart of summer right now school is out people are on vacation and coming to the city.jose leos says he does see officers at this lombard street location but feels as though thieves have spread out to nearby blocks. sot i've been here for 20 years and noticed a difference in the last couple of years where i've seen an increase in

crime.since sunday this video has been viewed hundreds of times on jose's youtube page. there is online frustration from many living in the area when it comes to the police response to these type of crimes.sot when it ends up being just a theft it ends up being a low priorityi just don't want it to escalate. fourth of july fireworks are a hallmark of celebrating freedom. but for some who've risked their lives defending that freedom-- fireworks--bring them right back to the horrors of the battlefield. richard tincher/vietnam war veteran: "it's my anxiety and my depression, i'm trying to get away from the noise." richard tincher lives in mather village--a complex built exclusively for military veterans. he says when he--and many of his neighbors hear the explosions of fireworks--it triggers their post traumatic stress disorder--or ptsd. richard tincher/vietnam war veteran: "i kind of like turn the tv up, shut the windows." joe khalil/reporting: "at mather village there are cases of ptsd here, some worse than others, but any fireworks show nearby could trigger quite a few people." james brashear/commander, west sacramento vfw: "you're sitting on your couch and all the sudden theres this loud explosion outside, those are the ones that trigger the memories that are putting you back into your deployment time." james brashear is the commander of the west sacramento veterans of foreign wars chapter. he says

( james ) even if you live in an area where 'safe and sane' fireworks are allowed, there are still some rules. kron four's charles clifford reports from sonoma county where police arrested a couple with illegal fireworks. in california, any fireworks that fly into the air or explode are illegal. safe and sane fireworks which can be flashy but stay on the ground are only allowed in a few places. . . like here in rhonert park. the california highway patrol says that most illegal fireworks they find are brought in from out of state.on sunday morning, a california chp officer pulled over a vehicle for weaving along highway 101

south of cotati. the driver had a suspended license and the passenger was wanted on an outstanding warrant. both were taken into custody. a search of their vehicle also uncovered illegal fireworks.sot while doing a routine inventory of the trunk he found about 14 mortar style fireworks and a couple roman candle type firworks that launch fireworks in the air. the fireworks, similar to these, were apparently large enough that the highway patrol felt compelled turned them over to the sonoma county sheriff's bomb unit. what's unclear at this point is where they got the fireworks.sotnot in california, so i assume they got em out of state.the driver and passenger are both now facing charges for possession of dangerous fireworks.natswe got the family pack.meanwhile, in nearby rhonert park, the sale of legal fireworks continued at a brisk pace on monday. says he prefers the safe and sane kind to the illegal ones because they are safer, easier to handle and the money he spends at this fireworks stand goes to a good cause.sotthe teen center. it's a christian teen center so we are here to support them.finally, possession of illegal fireworks is a misdemeanor that can result in and up to a year in jail. in rhonert park, charels cliffor kron 4 news. ( james ) in the east bay... police in berkeley are searching for two men who assaulted and robbed another man. the thieves also attacked someone who tried to stop them. it happened sunday morning at people's park.(ááátriggerááá) a man was sitting in the park when another man hit him in the back of the head with a piece of wood. the victim fell to the ground when another person stole his backpack. a witness saw the attack and got out of his car to try and stop it. one of the attackers threatened the witness while the other hit him in the back of the head. police do not have a detailed description of either of the attackers. ( james ) p-g-and-e is with a major lawsuit from valero. valero claims the

utility company caused 75- million dollars in damage to the benicia refinery. the lawsuit stems back to a power outage in may. valero says p-g-and -e shut off its electricity without notice. the loss of power forced an emergency shutdown of the refinery and caused extensive flaring that sent black smoke billowing into the sky. valero was fined for that flaring. ( james ) president donald trump has praised his own success in securing the border, but a new law in california could make it harder for him to stop undocumented immigrants from coming here. kyung lah has

the story. they call it the ice supermax of the west. it's four in the morning and three dozen undocumented immigrants many of them violent felony detainees are being transferred into ice custody. four orange county deputies work for the county and the federal government. it's the only jail in california that allows local deputies to also work as ice officers a partnership that could end under the so- called sanctuary state law. sheriff sandra hutchens/orange county police: "the public's going to be angry at the sheriff and they should be. if i had the ability to protect them and i did not." orange county sheriff sandra hutchens runs the county jail. she's gotten the attention of the president. president donald trump: "i want to thank sheriff sandra hutchens." and minces no words about the sanctuary state law. among many of its measures, it blocks local officers from acting as federal immigration agents. it is this progressive state's response

to the new president. sheriff sandra hutchens/orange county police: "it's very political. it's anti-trump. for me, you gotta to think about what's best for californians instead of making a statement." the sheriff's fear -- the law would prevent jails from holding dangerous criminals until federal agents pick them up. they point to the case of kate steinle,,,murdered by an undocumented immigrant...released from a county jail even though he had been deported five times. sheriff donny youngblood/kern county police: "i believe that this sanctuary state thing is really just absurd. to give people sanctuary who are criminals." kern county sheriff donny youngblood represents a more conservative area. and says frankly, he welcomes the immigration policy shift since trump's election. sheriff donny youngblood/kern county police: "what i can tell you is there's a greater cooperation between local law enforcement and their federal partners than there ever was." kyung lah/reporter: "how do you view that greater cooperation?" sheriff donny youngblood/kern county police: "i think it's a very positive thing for our

communities. from my standpoint, it's just absolutely crazy to look at some of the bills that come out of there." kevin de leon/california state senate: "i don't think it's crazy at all because what i don't want to do is make sure we don't increase crime. you will increase crime if local police are actually acting as cogs of the trump deportation machine." the number of non-violent arrests by ice have more than doubled since trump's election, says california's senate leader. that's why democrats want to send a signal to california residents and to washington. kevin de leon/california state senate: "nowhere in my lifetime have i ever felt this real insecurity with the current president of the united states who i believe is a very clear and present danger." back in orange county, four of the detainees are in street clothes. they're off to be deported. the rest step aboard an ice bus, now in federal custody. kyung lah, cnn, santa ana, california. ( james ) a southern california father accused of killing his five year old son has pleaded not guilty.

aramazd andressian junior went missing two months ago after police say he went to disneyland with his father. the boy's body was found on friday near a lake in santa barbara county. andressian senior was initially arrested then released in the boy's disappearance. detectives arrested him again last week in las vegas on suspicion of murder.

( james ) in the east bay... a three-month-old baby boy who was in the car during a deadly hit and run crash has improved from critical to stable condtion. a five-year-old and ten- year-old boy died in that crash late friday night in concord. the two boys have been identified as vincent and lorenzo reyes. the

children's mother was also at one point in critical condition. the baby's condition improved just before midnight last night. 35-year-old lumuel wilson is accused of running off after the crash. wilson later checked into highland hospital in oakland where investigators linked his d-n-a evidence found at the scene. the family is urging the contra costo county district attorney to revoke the bail option for wilson. ( james ) wilson's bail is set at 500-thousand-dollars. ( james ) a woman is shot and killed in san jose and the killer is still on the loose this morning. it happened last night when officers were

performing a welfare check on south tenth street. (ááátriggerááá) police found one woman with at least one gun-shot wound. she was pronounced dead at the scene. investigators are trying to find a motive behind the shooting. the woman's identity is not been released. ( james ) the c-h-p has found a big rig driver believed to be involved in a deadly hit-and-run crash. we first broke this story yesterday on the kron 4 morning news. that incident was just one of two deadly crashes along interstate-80. kron four's spencer blake has the latest. at about 4 a-m, a car driving westbound on i-80 near san pablo dam road spun out of control, and came to a stop facing the wrong way near the median.the driver, lindche tran, got out and tried to get to safety, but the lights on her wrecked car were out, so another car couldn't avoid hitting her.tran died there on the highway."that's terrible; i feel sorry for their family." the two people in the other car had minor injuries.i spoke with a neighbor who lives near the pedestrian bridge that stretches over this part of the interstate."you see a lot

of accidents or anything?oh yeah, i hear 'em all the time. i hear 'em all the time.""less than 15 minutes had passed after that first wreck was cleared up before tragedy struck again."and look how close the second crash was to the site of the first.it was almost 6:30 when a motorcyclist, nicholas brown, got hit by a big-rig truck."in the morning definitely when they come down this hill, and they're just flying."he was thrown from his bike, and died. the truck driver stopped for a few minutes, but then took off. c-h-p tried to find the hit- and-run driver, and thanks to tips from the public, officers did track him down.they say he's cooperating with their investigation.in san pablo, spencer blake, kron four news. the area say crime is on the rise. (j.r.)they're after your valuables. in the last week alone people in the area near lombard street have been victimized more than two dozen times.if you're headed to san francisco this july 4th holiday, specifically the crooked section of lombard street.listen up. thieves could be targeting you. this is all new surveillance video of a thief in action. it happened sunday on filbert street, two blocks from lombard street. a family parks their car here. you can even see the woman who after exiting, puts her items back inside the car, closes the door, and walk towards the famous section of lombard street. a short time later this man shows up, immediately starts looking in the windowsat one point.glances

down the street.goes back to the front seat.busts out the window and grabs what was in plain site.sot is pretty brazen about looking in and then smashing their window and grabbing something out of itjust from talking to the victims i learned it was a bag like a woman's purse with valuables.but this is hardly a rare thing near lombard street. tonight we've crime mapped this area and found at least 24 cases in the past seven days where cars have been broken into. that's within two blocks of the crooked section of the well known street and doesn't include an alleged robbery case that happened here at lombard and jones on sunday. sot there is usually an uptick of crime during the summer we're in the heart of summer right now school is out people are on vacation and coming to the city.jose leos says he does see officers at this lombard street location but feels as though thieves have spread out to nearby blocks. sot i've been here for 20 years and noticed a difference in the last couple of years where i've seen an increase in crime.since sunday this video has been viewed hundreds of times on jose's youtube page. there is online frustration from many living in the area when it comes to the police response to these type of crimes.sot when it ends up

being just a theft it ends up being a low priorityi just don't want it to escalate. ( james ) a man is arrested after attacking a police officer at a train stop...all while not wearing any clothes. take a look at this... a naked man starts spraying an officer with a stolen pesticide sprayer in texas. he then slaps the officer in the face. the two officers then tased and arrested him. the incident ended with no injuries. the man now faces two charges of assaulting a public servent. ( james ) this is a big week for the trump administration. the

president must contend with the latest missile launch from north korea... and there's a high-profile meeting with russian president president vladimir putin in just a few days. john lorinc has the details. while americans are preparing for fourth of july fireworks.....president donald trump is already dealing with different explosives.....a north korean missile launch. mister trump tweeted: "hard to believe that south korea and japan will put up with this much longer. perhaps china will put a heavy move on north korea and end this nonsense once and for all."the missile flew over five hundred miles and was launched about a day after trump spoke about the north korean issue with the leaders of china and japan - this comes at the start of a busy week for the president. mister and mrs. trump will take part in independence day events today....tomorrow the president heads to europe, with a stop in poland thursday, before the g-20 summit in germany starts on friday. among the leaders trump will meet in

then they may meet that deadline but then they've got the training involved."the list of mandates also includes increased use of bomb sniffing k9s and other measures too sensitive to be publicized. the measures are an alternative to the all-out ban on large electronic devices in the plane's cabin currently in place at 9 airports in muslim majority countries. the new standards impact 280 airports, 180 airlines across 105 countries.airlines for america, another airline trade group, raised concerns the mandates could lead to: "significant operational disruptions and unnecessarily frustrating consequences for the traveling public."the department of homeland security says they're confident most airports will not have any problems implementing the measures. a spokesman added " the schedule is aggressive because we are dealing with a threat, but we're interested in working with airlines that cannot meet the deadline.

( james ) in the east bay... police in berkeley are searching for two men who assaulted and robbed another man. the thieves also attacked someone who tried to stop them. it happened sunday morning at people's park.(ááátriggerááá) a man was sitting in the park when another man hit him in the back of the head with a piece of wood. the victim fell to the ground when another person stole his backpack. a witness saw the attack and got out of his car to try and stop it. one of the attackers threatened the witness while the other hit him in the back of the head. police do not have a detailed description of either of the attackers. ( james ) in business news this morning... valero is suing pg&e... claiming the utility company caused 75- million dollars in damage to its benicia refinery. the lawsuit stems back to a power outage in may. valero says p-g-and -e shut off its electricity without notice.

the loss of power forced an emergency shutdown of the refinery and caused extensive flaring that sent black smoke billowing into the sky. valero was fined for that flaring. ( james ) there is a new device that can help keep thieves from stealing packages from your front porch. kron 4's tech reporter gabe slate has the details. these amazon lockers are popping up all over the bay area.. mostly at grocery stores.. but also at other types of businesses with a lot of daily foot traffic.. i don't know why amazon did this it comes off a little creepy to me. but they gave these lockers names.. like "gavin".amazon offers this service to their online shoppers for any time it's not convenient to deliver to their home. if you're concerned about your package being

stolen after it's delivered and before you get to it .. this is a solution to that another use if you've ordered a gift for someone and you don't want them to see it when it arrives. stand up tech reporter gabe slate says: "and an advantage about using the lockers. you control when you pick it up.. you don't have to wait around for a package to be delivered and worry you're missing it." here's how it works.. when you are on the checkout screen on the website.. directly under your shipping address there is an option to pick up the item at an amazon locker. you are then shown a map with the locations and the hours the lockers are accessible. pick one then.. it ships normally just to the locker instead of your home. if you're a prime member it will do the 2 day free shipping thing once it arrives at the locker you get an alert through email or text in that alert will be a secret code you punch in the screen on the locker to retrieve your item. once you do that the cubby containing your package will automatically open. i know i'm a geek but the experience is kind of cool the secret code.. the automation.. when the order is placed amazon says you only have 3 days to pick up the item or will be sent back and then you will be refunded. however my experience has been different it has always allowed six to seven days for pick up.thanks gavin keep up the good work report gabe slate kron 4 news. going against the number two ranked competitive eater, matt "mega-toad" stonie who is from san jose. last year, chestnut set a record by eating 70 hot dogs in just 10 minutes. the contest starts at 9:40 in the morning.
