what led to the fire. plus, a family narrowly escapes a fire overnight. what fire fighters say helped get them out of the burning home safely. and thank you for joining us for fox 10 news at 10:00. and we begin with a tragic story out of youngstown. mcso detectives are describing this as a violent death after 3-year-old. >> this is just a heartbreaking tragedy. and from neighbors about what happened in this quiet community. and some of these details are pretty shocking. fox 10's danielle miller has the story. >> we had come out and noticed this were fire trucks and ambulances. when my husband and i came out, we looked to our right of our vehicle and we noticed that there was a girl on the sidewalk who was bleeding. >> reporter: amy describing the violence that happened just a few doors down from her home

she says that girl bleeding in front of her home was a 9-year-old girl who was just stabbed by her sibling. >> she was actually running for her life along with her older brother and a younger brother. knocking, banging on the doors, trying to get someone to help them. >> reporter: the only thing mcso is confirming is that a 3-year-old was killed in what they're calling a violent homicide. she says this 3-year-old boy was also stabbed by his sibling. she says his 4-year-old brother most l violence along with the 9-year-old girl and other siblings. >> he made a comment about his brother was dying. and so for a 4-year-old to say that, is something that i don't think any of us -- you know, want to hear. and it was heartbreaking. i had my arm around him and just trying to comfort him, you know, to let him know that we were there for him. >> reporter: none of this has been confirmed by mcso and they can't confirmed if the person

been arrested or if they're looking for somebody at this time. they said the earliest we're going to be getting an update is tomorrow. and when we get that updated information, we'll bring it to you as it becomes available. danielle miller, fox 10 news. what started as a family gathering ends up as a violent and scary scene. >> mcso got called out to a shooting in a home and found a man suffering suffering from gut wounds. the alleged shooter was not far off. deputies say this happened near dunlap and they found out the man was suffering suffering from several gunshot wounds. his family had already driven him to the hospital. they say the shooter and the victim were friends. she got into a fight and the -- they got into a fight and the friend pulled out a gun. >> there were juveniles in the area, in the home at the time of the shooting. they are all okay. everybody else is fine. >> deputies caught up with the alleged shooter who they've identified as robert scott

arrested, they say the man shot and killed himself. we're waiting to hear more about the victim's condition as well. two young teens rushed to the hospital from lake pleasant this morning after a freak accident causes their boat to catch fire. they say when they starter the boat's engine a fiery explosion went off. two young girls were burned. a 13-year-old was flown to the nearest burn center and a 12-year-old girl was taken to deputieses say there were four people and two dogs on the boat but only the girls were badly hurt. >> it was just that. it was a flash fire. it was a very quick, very brief flash of fire that burned these girls. but we don't really know the reason. >> new, officials say the -- now, officials say the girls are expected to be okay. one sustained burns to 50% of her body. they're still trying to figure out exactly what caused this explosion. and this was a scary wake-up

home. fire broke out early this morning just before 7:00. and a child ended up being taken to the hospital. fire crews say that home is in phoenix. didn't have working fire alarms or smoke detectors. so those people were lucky to get out. >> she was up, smelt the smoke. she was already awake, up and about the house. smelt the smoke, heard some noises, wednesday -- went and investigated and was able to get the family huge deal. >> two women and a 9-year-old boy were inside the house at the time. they got out with the pet dog, but two cats did not survive. the boy was okay. but they had him checked out at the hospital. fire officials still investigating the cause. a family of three are out of the their home after a fire tore through it. this one happening near cave creek and greenway roads. fire fighters say a man, a woman

crews say most of the fire was in the garage and they were able to save the majority of the house. the fire department is helping the family find a place to stay. upunfortunately a pet reptile ws kid but no other injuries are being reported. we're horning learning more about the man accused of murdering a couple at a north phoenix mobile home park. neighbors tell us brandon sutherland killed his own mother and stepfather. the pair appeared to be stabbed to death sutherland was a former u.s. marine and neighbors say he was suffering from a mental illness. he was booked into jail. we'll keep you updated as we learn more details. your mom once told you don't play with your food, right? but these artists are making a competition of it. st. mary's food bank hold as competition with 11 teams creating works of art out of

toward the food bank. you can take a look at these at the phoenix convention center. a car accident back in january but an 18-year-old boy's future in jeopardy. >> he said he was hit by a car while the car was going 35 miles an hour. >> jake reynolds says he doesn't remember much after the collision. he blacked out on the scene. when dr. pitcher got a look at the teen, he was in pretty shape. his face was crushed. his whole forehead t eye area and his nose were, quote, demolished. pritchered used a new technology to make what seemed like an impossible repair something almost as good as new. >> man, that 3d technology, i tell you -- i mean, it's -- it's impressive. the fact that he could turn myself into what i am now from

getting your hair done... does some when getting your hair done, does some good for others. several local hair salons came together raising money for families of the victims of the orlando nightclub shooting. 10 valley salons set up shop in the downtown renaissance hotel in phoenix, where they provided cuts and styling services. now, this all started out with one salon owner who wanted to donate his time and services to the cause. and then it ended up with nine

on. here we are, the 10:00 hour, and we're still just a bit over 100 degrees with light winds out of the east-southeast at three miles per hour. it's been a warm weekend for us. we've got a lot of high pressure over the west. that's keeping a lot out. that moisture that we saw quite a bit of last week. different story for us for the past few days. as we can see from this map, we're kind of dry for most of the state. as you see earlier in the day, we had some moisture down south. but as we made our way through the day, that's moved off into new mexico and colorado as we just really don't have the moisture that would prevent -- keep that moisture in our area right now. so you can see the dew points are dropping as well, especially along the border. we have some high dew points near nogales and tucson.

isolated storms down there. but for us really, very warm. 100 in goodyear. 94 in fountain hills. queen creek at 94 degrees. the rest of the state, also kind of warm for this time of year. we've got 74 for you you in prescott. 61 in flagstaff. 62 over in the grand canyon. 64 for you in window rock tonight. and 60 if you are in show low. 66 in show low. tonight we're going to cool down to about we were above the normal today by about four degrees. our record high was set back in 2012. 112 degrees. so we are above normal, but not that far. rest of the country, we do have some active weather going on earlier. some isolated storm activity over denver, over new mexico as well. and then you can see this activity here in the eastern gulf states. that storm system there that has since moved off. but that brought some rain through the northern part of
