this is the aids walk/run in downtown phoenix kicked off this morning for the ninth annual year. >> 6,000 people out there, of course, gathering to raise money to raise awareness. >> courtney griffin has more. >> three, two, one. >> reporter: breaking personal records and steug -- stigmas at the >> you don't have to be gay to get the disease. it is the young people with drugs and unprotected sex. we need to do more education in the schools. >> reporter: barb's 36-year-old son died of h.i.v. in 2004 one month after learning about his diagnosis. >> he was not aware he was h.i.v. positive. by the time he knew, it was too late.

call silent witness, 480-witness. a memorial trail honoring the granite mountain hotshots is almost complete. the trail in yarnell will lead people to the spot where fire crew was killed. the 19 firefighters died back in 2013. the memorial trail will be just under three miles long and there will be an observation deck with plaques and the firefighters' names. the trail is expected to open next m gas prices well above $2 across the country. according to gasbuddy.com, the average price rang in at $2.22 today. here in arizona, we're paying less than that. the average here is $2.14 a gallon. hawaii, as always, has the highest with $2.89 a gallon that is a lot.

thousands of people taking part in a massive zombie walk that took place in mexico. obviously, it looks like out of the walking dead with all of the zombies. it is just a celebration in mexico that is called their zombie walk. people covered in fake blood, wearing torn clothing, carrying, i'm not sure what that is. oh, it is a huge mallet maybe that is how the zombies get you. they walked from the monument. >> that is a clown zombie. >> the participants walked from

central square. mexico city has been hosting the zombie walk for nine years now. here in phoenix, many people gathering at steele indian school park celebrating dia de los muertos or day of the dead. it is an ancient mexican holiday where people remember their loved ones that have passed. it is observed on november 1 and the infamous hermosa inn is celebrating its 80th anniversary is going back in time. >> the history might frighten you a bit. anita roman explains. >> the hermosa inn has a history that dates back to the 1930's when cowboys roamed the desert. >> he is saying i'm here.
