start things off with kelly curran who told you it would be windy and you nailed it, my friend if you had a marilyn monroe skirt, is it did not go well for you. >> kelly: and a bad hair day all the way around. it is a little bit out there. strong winds. a little haze in the -- little haze in the air. at 9 a.m., 68 degrees. those temperatures you will notice them when they head out the door. significantly cooler. our our high today only 80 degrees. will these cool conditions last into the weekend? that is the big question, jeff. >> jeff: we have incidents on the freeways. an accident near 215 at sunset and decatur but not affect anything traffic on the 215. slow running through the bowl. 18 miles per hour on 15 southbound, and if you were making your way through, that will be the slow spot on your friday between downtown and 215 will take you ten minutes and free of accidents on the

minutes. unfortunately this accident turned deadly, a local man no longer with us after being hit by a car. this happened last night in the northeast section of town about 7:30 during the lake mead and pecos. north las vegas police tell us that a 65-year-old man was trying to cross the street outside of a crosswalk when he was hit. rushed to umc trauma where he passed away. the driver of the car did remain on scene and they do not believe alcoh the area where this 65-year-old was hit was shut down for self-hours. and 6:02, a local man accused of killing two people just trying help him and in a local court room a couple of hours from now, craig figner joins us live from downtown las vegas with more on this murder allegation. >> reporter: the suspect in this case, and incredibly, he had lived with these victims.

he lived with them because apparently they were trying to help him get back on his feet after a rough spot in the suspect's life. 50 years old and he allegedly murdered the couple that -- that -- one of them rather with a pair of scissors and a claw ham he. this happened inside their apartment in the 5500 block of palo verde road. the suspects have been acting aggressively before that violent and deadly attack. speculation that perhaps he us illicit drug. the suspect is charged with two counts of open murder and home invasion robbery. this will be his very first appearance in court. they call it a 48-hour hearing. we will see what happens inside and i will report to you news3 live at noon. i am craig figner reporting live on this friday morning outside the regional justice court, back to you. >> we also see prep for lights. beautiful behind your shoulder there, craig. thank you for that and we will

breaking overnight, that tulsa police officer who was accused of shooting and killing that stranded motorist was in jail and while most of you were sleeping ended up getting out of jail. that is the update you are waking up to this morning. here is her mugshot. there she is on your screen and she is charged in the killing of that unarmed black motorist and her name is officer betty shelby. she has been released on $50,000 bond. she was charged with first-degree manslaughter for the shooting and kill crutcher. prosecutors in tulsa say that shelby, quote, reacted unreasonably unquote when she shot crutcher who at the time was not listening to police commands and you saw some of that footage on your screen from the aerial perspective just a minute ago. he was also seen walking away from the officer with his hands held up in the air, and she continues to tell prosecutors in tulsa that he thought he was making a move to go inside the suv.

last night. a third night of protest; however, last night things were mostly peaceful. nobody arrested here. nobody in here; however, police did use a little tear gas when protesters briefly blocked interstate 277 last night. we know that they had a curfew in effect from midnight until 6 a.m. all of this over the police shooting death of keith scott that happened on tuesday. still some people heated last night, bute -- members of clergy linking arms last night asking for peace, and that is exactly what they got. so peaceful protest again last night. tonight, there was another curfew from midnight until 6 a.m. and that will remain in place until the state of emergency is lifted. a different sort of protest playing out here locally that takes us inside a loaning court room, that will be the court room of that judge, douglas herndon who said he is not going to allow

defense attorney erika balou wore a black lives matter button into court and also on tuesday of this week. a judge said that he himself is not trying to make a political statement here. he said he believes that it is important to maintain order within the court. >> nothing about my position on black lives matter. i agree -- i agree that black lives matter and i believe that blue lives matter. i agree that all lives matter. this is about me charging and in a court and making sure everybody else who comes in here appreciates that appearance in the court room as well. >> dana: there is the judge -- >> kim: there is the judge in his own words and balou taking the pin off in open court and the biggest issue was a letter sent by the police union saying those pins were propaganda. her boss asking judge herndon to stay consistent with this because dana the review

that windy weather yesterday ended up forcing a local school to cancel classes and as a result it goes into today because the high winds knocked out power at the explore knowledge academy. that is over on mountain vista near russell. it forced students to go home early yesterday and school officials say the winds ended up knocking out a transformer that will not be fixed until monday. they get an extra day off starting today. 6:32. the violence in charlotte and how to fix it. >> there is a need to build better bridges between law enforcement and the communities they serve. hillary and i understand that. we want to invest in training that will strengthen relationships. >> dana: nevada very important both political candidates here running for president. six elector cal college votes up for grabs here.
