they say this is going to be a life threatening event when it comes to rain, storm surge and wind. guests here are being asked to make arrangements as soon as possible if they want to get out. this resort is 20 stories high. we are on the 17th floor. they tell us in the case of an evacuation they would move all guests to the convention center which is a short walk from the resort itself. officials are keeping a close eye on hurricane matthew. but hoping that the damage left behind is not severe. >> tom: we have sky 3 in route to a reported accident up in the far northeast valley. we're not there yet so we're making our way. even from here we can see flashing lights. this is way out on i15 looks

before it made land fall this morning already in haiti. obviously the storm potentially caused catastrophic damage when you consider the living situation, they had to deal with that earthquake several years ago. packing 145-mile an hour winds that could drop up to three feet of rain. once it's done with this, it's going to move on to the eastern coast of cuba. here is what we're looking at. from hurricane matthew. you see the eye making land fall in haiti. it's going to make another land fall in the eastern tip of cuba here before moving into the bahamas. here is the forecast cone for this storm. hugging the coast of the united states. category three storm potentially hugging the coast of florida. this will be on friday.

look at hurricane matthew. >> dana: it's a local case that made a lot of headlines in our community. the former head of an animal sheller in boulder city insists she is not guilty of felony animal abuse. craig joins us live from downtown las vegas. and the big question is will she or won't she appear in court this morning? >> that is one of the questions. she had been leading the boulder city animal shelter for 18 years. then in april of 2015 allegat numerous pets to be euthanized before the required waiting time for the pets to be adopted. she was indicted by a grand jury in connection with this case and faces two felony counts in connection with the crimes she's alleged of committing, needlessly euthanizing more than 90 animals anyway single year. in september the case was set for trial but that date was
