stated. several more deputies and state troopers joined the pursuit hoping to stop the driver. "as we got closer to norfolk, the vehicle began to slow down and we were coming in on highway 81 past the airport," said sgt. volk. as the tractor trailer barreled towards norfolk, police in the city were already making plans in the event the truck went over the viaduct into the city's biggest intersection. it was at that point, right before the river bridge that deputy volk knew something needed to be done. "as he came by, i could see the driver's head slumped down and felt he was not conscious and it popped in my head that we need to get this vehicle stopped. at that point in time, the truck was traveling about 20 mph, i jumped back in my patrol vehicle, punched it and got up in front and jumped out and jumped up and grabbed the hand railing and the mirror on the

no injuries were reported after a car hit a house in norfolk, nebraska this morning. it happened on victory road just north of the norfolk avenue at about 9 a.m. this morning. a southbound car lost control and struck the front porch of a house. the car suffered heavy front-end damage, but while the porch was damaged, the house was not. we saw snow in parts of siouxland today. will we see more? let's check in with chief meteorologis t ron demers. weather ad-lib much of siouxland woke up to a little bit of sleet and snow this morning but the heaviest amounts easily fell farther northwest. it will get a little colder tonight as temps fall through the 20s and with a breezy northwest wind it will be

for one sioux city woman, that hobby is christmas. and her niche is nutcrackers. ktiv's sam curtiss reports on a collection that has grown over the years. nutcrackers on the floor. nutcrackers on the shelves. nutcrackers small and large. everywhere you look in jacque goettschs family room, there's nutcrackers. "i kept getting them as gifts," said jacque goettsch. her collection is up to 243 figures. this was the first one in the hoard. "1988," said jacque goettsch. "i

at the old bostwick store which is now shopko." of the 243, only three are duplicates. "i opened them all on the same night," a family christmas. i got one from one and one from niece and when i opened them they said 'oh i didn't know you got the same one'." she has all different types including this on made by her dad. around the rest of her home, 53 displays. and one room dedicated to the jolly red man. jacque goettsch says it takes her about a week and a half to set up the decorations. "each one i have to dust off and look at and remember who gave it to me," said jacque goettsch. "there's a lot of memories down here for me." but goettsch's collection isn't quite complete. the retired nurse needs just one more to be satisfied. "i do not have a nurse nutcracker," said jacque goettsch. come the first week of january her prized set will be still be on display. only inside boxes stacked in the garage. "it's priceless to me only," said jacque goettsch. "there's other people

for the fourth year -- iowa's four division one men's college basketball teams will meet in the 'big four classic' in des moines. it's a chance for the fans of iowa, iowa state, northern iowa and drake to see all four teams on one day -- in one arena, at the wells fargo center. the cyclones take on northern iowa in the late game saturday. iowa state is 9-0 and ranked fifth in the latest a-p poll. isu has had their trouble against the panthers, losing six of the last nine meetings. add the fact that the panthers have already beaten north carolina this season, and they have iowa state's attention. ' northwestern evened its gpac record to 3-3 and is 8-4 overall. hiring a football coach might be the most important thing a college athletic director does. south dakota's david herbster raided a conference rival to find their new coach. herbster introduced bob nielson of western illinois on tuesday. nielson is the reigning missouri valley football conference coach of the year. he improved the leathernecks win total in each of his three years -- with a

titles at minnesota-duluth. herbster feels like the coyotes got everything they wanted with the hire. "i wanted a head coach that was experienced, had midwestern roots, had a track record of winning, had built programs before, had been in a variety of places, that could bring those experiences here," said herbster.
