ktiv's tommie clark is with live link 4 in spencer, iowa. tommie what can you tell us about how the community is coming together? robert, here at spencer high school balloons and flowers are already being set out for austin roberts. this close-knit community spent last night and today mourning together. this morning grief counseling was held at the spencer high school for students. hundreds of students and staff filled this high school to talk and share memories they shared with roberts. a crisis team will be handling the next couple of days before their christmas break begins on wednesday. i spoke with spencer school's superintenden t, terry hemann, who says the community is doing everything they can to help each other get through this difficult time. "this morning there were a lot of tears, a lot of hugs and those type of things, but there were also some

about austin. austin was a student that was a student bigger than life in many ways, a large young man 220- pound student, with a laugh as big as any room you can put him in...good kid," said spencer community schools superintendent, terry hemann i also spoke with the pastor of sacred heart catholic church where hundreds of students came together last night after finding out the news of roberts' passing. tonight at 10 i'll have more on what happened last night. i'll also have reaction from someone who saw the tragedy unfold. for now, spencer is coming together as a community through this hard time. reporting live in spencer, iowa, tommie clark, ktiv news 4. thanks tommie. holidays are about food in a lot of ways with festive meals gathering families around the dinner table. but, some families can't afford that food-- and that's what the food bank of siouxland is here for. the non-profit is dedicated to making sure everyone in siouxland has enough to eat. they serve 11 counties

area and they had a record shattering year. the food bank distributed 2 million pounds of food this past year. in november alone, they distributed one-hundred- and-eighty-six-thousand pounds of food, which is the fifth biggest month in their history. with so much food in demand, they have to keep up with the need...so they're always looking for more donations. sanders and martin o'malley are unhappy with their party's relatively light debate schedule.. worrying it favors front runner hillary clinton. and republican candidate ted cruz joined in this weekend to poke fun at the democrats. . just hours ahead of the democrats holding last night's debate.. days before christmas.. cruz accused the party of burying their debates in low-watched time slots. on "meet the press" this morning, republican presidential candidate donald trump reacted to hillary clinton's claim during saturday's democratic presidential debate that isis is using video of trump as a recruiting tool. todd: no fact checker has been able to back up her claim on that, um.. trump: that's exactly correct. i was going to say that. exactly correct. nobody has been able to back that up. it's nonsense. it's just another hillary lie. she lies like crazy about everything whether it's trips where she was being gunned down in a helicopter or an airplane. she's a liar and everybody knows

but she just made this up in thin air." in a moment of what he called self therapy, jeb bush called donald trump a jerk while speaking to a crowd in new hampshire. it happened saturday during a town hall. the former florida governor was in between answering questions when he, unprovoked, said he had to get something off his chest. bush then went on to criticize the front runner in the republican race for the white house.. saying trump cannot insult his way to the oval office. senator chuck schumer is backing new legislation to change government methods for finding and dealing with terror groups' communication on social media. the new york democrat is calling for the modernization to combat terrorists using social media to recruit americans, inspire attacks and raise money. with the new legislation... the

"we're here today to say that the federal government must make sure that we're on the cutting on edge when it comes to how we decipher, disrupt and decode social media communications made by terror suspects and terror groups." senator schumer's statement comes after a new york pizza shop owner pleaded guilty this week to recruiting for isis on facebook. an air france flight headed for paris made an emergency landing in kenya today due to a bomb scare. officials say a suspected explosive device was found in the restroom. the plane was carrying 459 passengers and 14 crew members. all passengers were safely evacuated and the device was taken out. kenya's interior minister said a number of passengers are being interrogated. we;ll have more on the emergency landing, coming up on news 4 at 10.

nebraska is back on top of the college volleyball world. the huskers, with help from a partisan crowd of over 17- thousand in omaha, swept texas on saturday night to win the national championship. nebraska was anchored by mikaela foecke's 19 kills. foecke, a true freshman from holy trinity catholic high school in southwest iowa - was named the tournament's most outstanding player. an ncaa-record crowd of 17-thousand, 561 were on hand to witness the huskers' fourth title in school history, and their first since 2006.
