teachers, to their cars after school was dismissed. a message over the intercom at the school also advised everyone to stay in their homes for night as the manhunt continues. the knox county sheriff says authorities are looking for a native american male, wearing blue jeans and a blue hoooded sweatshirt. he is also said to have a tattoo on his adam's apple. knox county sheriff's officials and the nebraska state patrol are both involved in the search at this time. a former high school band director accused of sending innapropriate texts to a student has pleaded not guilty. 34-year-old lucas sursely, former band director at north high school in sioux city, has pleaded not guilty to sexual exploitation of a minor. according to court documents, sursely admitted to police he sent pictures of himself wearing underwear to a 15-year-old student and asked her a sexual question. sursley resigned shortly after an investigation into those claims started. if convicted, he could face up to five years in prison. today after a small plane crashed near pender, nebraska, killing the pilot. (sheila) the plane took off from colombia, missouri and was headed for sioux city. ktiv's tommie clark was on scene today and spoke with investigators. tommie what's the latest? matt and sheila, sunday night, airport officials diverted the flight because of bad weather and investigators searched until the plane was found. now, the national transportation safety board is leading the investigation into what caused the crash.

this, it's tough," said wayne municipal airport caretaker, jim hoffman. plane remains hitting together in the wind. "this is where the plane crashed and now an investigation is underway, led by the national transportation safety board." lead investigator, craig hatch, says it's a "man-machine" type of investigation. "the aircraft that's the machine, maintenance, how it was operating what was working what wasn't working and then the environment, radar environment, air traffic control, obviously the weather. so we kind of put that all together to eventually come up with the probable cause," said national transportation safety board lead air safety investigator, craig hatch. then they will start looking at the qualifications and training of the pilot. "i have not heard of any problems. he was in fact talking to air traffic control. i've been in contact with our air traffic control specialist, who's actually located in d.c., he's digging up those tapes and those recordings and i'll get those when i get back to the office," said national transportation safety board lead air safety investigator, craig hatch. tuesday they documented the on-site examination.

"the tip is flight plan. look for weather, if it's a long duration of flight look at your fuel management and certainly if you're talking to air traffic control they can help you out if you do run into a problem," said national transportation safety board lead air safety investigator, craig hatch. hatch says a preliminary report of the investigation findings will be issued in about a week. a gas leak closed a busy downtown intersection for about an hour this afternoon. investigators say construction

only a dusting expected. (matt) presidential hopeful hillary clinton made her way to sioux city this afternoon to gain voters support ahead of the nation's first caucus in iowa. (sheila) ktiv's tiffany lane is at the orpheum theatre where she spoke to voters. tiffany? matt and sheila, her stop was part of her two- day campaign swing across the state and it was called the "fighting for us town hall." as you can see it has cleared out, but earlier there were about 450 people here in the lobby of the orpheum. clinton brought up many domestic issues facing the country today. but one of her main focuses was the economy. she said the country needs to build an economy that she believes focuses on everyone. some of the ways she said that could be done would be through new jobs and creating

it was the latest stop on cruz's six-day, 28 stop bus tour of iowa.. where he leads the republican presidential pack in recent polling. he also stopped in cherokee and will be in sioux center tonight at 6:30. ktiv's robert lowe is in sioux center and will have more on cruz's campaign tonight on news 4 at 10. two siouxland lawmakers weigh in this year's legislative session that gets underway in less than a week. when the gavel falls monday morning the house will have at least one new member. state representativ e chuck holz of le mars. he replaced chuck soderberg. holz, who is a republican, says he believes the biggest issue facing the state will be money. "there's going to be a lot of need and i don't know how much revenue there's going to be," said chuck holz, republican state representative from le mars. "i think the state revenue is probably not going to be down. but it's sure not going to be up as much as what we'd like." state representativ e chris hall of sioux city says he has some key areas where he would like to see action. they include clean water, anti-bullying legislation and bringing back economic dollars to sioux city. but, the
