thanks for watching. travelers in siouxland flying high after a big announcement today. starting in may, people will have two options of where to fly from sioux gateway airport. today, sioux city leaders announced that american airlines will add daily flights to dallas. they say this has something that has been discussed since the airline started serving the airport four years ago. "one, it's a great destination for siouxlanders that's in our

sloniker, executive vice president for the siouxland chamber of commerce. "everybody wants to go to dallas. it's a great city. but even more importantly and because it's the largest hub for american. the connections are phenomenal out at dallas. flights will start going on sale tomorrow. with the dallas addition, there will be 20 flights from sioux gateway a week. from the sky to hitting the road. today, the highway 20 association discussed construction updates for transforminghe road from two to four lanes. truck passing by. the work between moville and correctionvil le will continue moving eastward. next month, the holsteinino galva portion of the project will start. late this summer the dot will award the last construction contract from galva to the early area. plus, there will be a detour. starting in late march and going until november traffic will be rerouted to old highway 20 in correctionvil le. the project was put on the fasttrack because of the fuel tax increase. the highway in northwest iowa is

authorities investigating the death of an inmate at the emmet county jail in estherville, iowa. 51-year-old lee roy hum of was found unresponsive this morning. hum had been arrested and booked into the emmet county jail o o wednesday on an outstanding warrant. an autopsy conducted by the state medical examiner revealed no significant injury. more testing is being conducted. a judge says a siouxland man charged with killing his mother is competent to stand trial. after a mental health evaluation, the judge decided jonathan neunaber is mentally capable to stand trial for first-degree murder. neunaber is accused of killing his mother, 80- year old esther neunaber near akron, iowa in july of 2014. her body was found along with the body of her husband, donond neunaber. investigators say esther was beaten to death and donald died of natural causes.

of crashing her car into another vehicle on purpose has pleaded not guilty. melissa ebert of cherokee, iowa faces attempted murder for a head-on collision in le mars, iowa back in september. ththe people ended up with serious injuries. a rollover crash killed a siouxland teenager on her way to school this morning. the driver, who was 15- years-old, says she lost control on black ice and went into the ditch outside of moorhead on e54. two passengers weren't wearing seat belts and were thrown from the vehicle. 16-year-old shelby montage was pronounced dead at the scene. the monona county sheriff's office says shelby attended school at west harrison. the driver and a 12-year- old passenger went to the hospital in onawa. former president bill clinton campaigned for his wife today in sioux city. clinton spoke to a group of about 450 people. he calls hillary clinton the best changemaker he's ever met. "the reason republicans have been so hard on her for over a year now is they know that too," said former president bill clinton. "they've basically been screaming at all of us democrats saying please nominate somebody else. we don't

bill clinton has said he is not surprised bernie sanders is moving up in the polls because of all of the attacks by republicans. sundnd night you can see the democratic candidates in a debate here on nbc. former maryland governor martin o'malley just made the cut. he needed to have at least 5 percent support in recent polls. the debate from charlston, south carolina, starts at eight here on ktiv. republican donald trump widens his lead in the race to the white house. that's according to a w nbc/wall street journal poll. nationally, he has a third of support. followed by texas senator ted cruz with 20% florida senator marco rubio at 13% and, dr. ben carson at 12% in, iowa; trump is tied with cruz. and, trump showed a bit of his softer side today in iowa. he met one of his biggest fans, shawn norman. the 28-year-old suffers from a rare genetic disease. he says his dying whish would be seeing trump get elected. a campaign worker says trump heard about norman's story and

two republican candidates will be making their way to siouxland this weekend. florida senator marco rubio will be in sioux center at dordt college at 6 p.m. and, new jersey governor chris christie will host a town hall at buffalo alice's in sioux city on sunday. door open at 3:3: p.m. some of the most mouth- watering desserts were on display in south sioux city, nebraska tonight. the delectable dessert auction took place at the marina inn conference center. it's all a fundraiser for the south sioux city chamber of c cmerce. "it's fun to see everyone get into the desserts--it really is. last year we raised 11,000 dollars off the desserts and we do 15 desserts. so when you think about it that's about $800 per dessert. people really pay a lot to have it. we don't offer dessert other than that so their table doesn't buy a dessert than the table doesn't have a dessert," said lori warner, south sioux city chamber presidede. the chamber raised more than 91-hundred dollars off tonight's dessert auction.

the dow fell about 400 pointes. leaving it down, 14- hundred points in just the first two weeks of the year. the fall of oil prices and economic conditions in china fueling the decline. a tennessee couple is rolling in money today. they had one of the three winning powerball tickets. john robinson said he bought four tickets at a grocery store near their house on his way home from work on wednesday night. he's from munford, tennesse, a city of just 6- thousand people. the other winning tickets were sold at a convience store in chino hills, california and a grocery store in melbourne beach, florida.
