representatives say cruz booked the rocklin conference where he campaigned in the fall about a week ago. but the proposed debate with trump was not mentioned, the school says. one student says it is exciting that people are hearing about the college nationally. "yeah it's kind of cool that people get to know more about this college and more people show up each year," said western iowa tech sophomore duylan roland. cruz presented trump with the proposal on his website. it comes just days after trump announced he won't be participating in thursday's gop debate. thursday, western iowa tech prepared for saturday's forum filling the room with 500 chairs, and school officials say they expect a full house. "from the college point of view the sheer numbers are what we think would be an issue if there truly was going to be a western iowa tech representatives say they haven't heard from trump's campaign since the announcement.

"i see the feedback i get is appreciated, there's been a lot of connections made, and i think we've made a lot of progress in just a short time that the program's been around," said jason kemp, iowa home base program director. "i really feel initiative and employing our transitioning military into jobs in our corridor region is just industry in this region," said joanne follon, business retention coordinator for iowa lakes corridor development corporation. another ceremony was held in buena vista county buena vista and dickinson are the 29th and 30th home base iowa communities.

a hero after his grandfather slipped and fell on the ice. six-year-old michael dorn junior had just finished a day of ice fishing with his grandfather in waterloo. the two were walking back to shore when michael's grandfather was knocked out after slipping on the ice. michael then ran for help and found some other fishermen who called 9- 1-1. students in nebraska helped judge cattle in preparation for a competition. more than 400 high school students from across nebraska gathered at the chuck pohlman ag complex in norfolk for a few tips to prepare for the state future farmers of america competition later this year. a livestock judging coach says the students at the competition are learning different skills, most importantly, decision-making as they explain their judgments on how they rated the cattle, sheep and hogs. the winners from yesterday's district competition will compete at the state f-f-a

a fall hazard has prompted the recall of nearly one- and-a-half million shower rugs. with more on that story and other business news, here's ktiv's kaitlyn kinney.... thanks, sarah. the recall involves aqua rugs with four plastic suction cups... sold in beige and clear. trister products has received 60 reports of consumers falling in the shower or bathtub while on the rugs, including 30 reports of injuries such as bruises, cuts, and fractured or broken bones. consumers should stop using the rugs and contact tristar products to obtain a free replacement. the recalled rugs were sold from july 2012 through september 2015 at bed bath and beyond, dollar general and other retail stores nationwide, as well as online at amazon dot com, and on television through q-v-c. the three biggest u-s airline carriers are allowing some customers to cancel or postpone their trips to areas affected by zika. the move comes as concern about the mosquito-born virus rises.
