headache. eastbound 215 was closed from the airport connector to warm springs for more than 5 hours after the driver of a lexus went the wrong way on the 215, striking 2 other cars. police are investigating the accident. another crash overnight left more than 2 thousand people without power for a short time ...after a car crashed into a transformer near sahara and fort apache. the power went out around 1 this morning... however the lights were restored just over an hour later. no word on injuries in that crash. right now.. a river flood warning is still effect for sarasota, florida and the surrounding area. the national weather service blames two tornadoes for the damage and two deaths. siesta key and sarasota key were hit the hardest as storms pounded central florida overnight. strong and gusty winds plus hazardous boating conditions on gulf waters are expected to last throughout the evening. the latest try to land a space rocket on a platform in the ocean has ended in a flop. the private "space-x company"... launched an unmanned rocket that put a satellite in space today. but things went downhill when the rocket attempted its secondary goal... to land upright on the platform in the pacific. space-x didn't elaborate what went wrong. but it tweeted that the rocket hit the platform too hard and broke a landing leg. it was the fourth such failure for the company. space-x wants to be able to reuse its rockets, so it can cut the cost of space flights. new developments in a story you might remember. this viral video of an uber driver being attacked by a drunk taco bell executive.

a lawsuit's been launched.... but not... by who you might think. script: this now infamous video -- viewed more than 2 million times on youtube - a caught on camera assault of an uber driver is now at the center of a law suit filed by the now-former taco bell executive seen beating uber driver edward caban in november nat video benjamin golden filing the suit despite making this tearful apology on kcbs days after the attack golden sot : i've been trying not to read what people said but i'm not that person (crying) golden who admitted he was drunk at the time - was he was also sued by the uber driver, edward caban, for unspecified damages. caban sot: i didn't expect it to get violent to be honest it came out of nowhere. northbound u.s. 95 and 215 off-ramp from 9 p.m. tonight until 5 a.m. tommorrow morning. the closure is part of the "centennial bowl" being built in nortwest las vegas. detours will be in place during the closure, so pay attention. if you're heading to downtown las vegas tonight, there are some traffic issues you should know about. n-dot is doing some drilling related to "project neon". it's happening along both sides of i-15 between sahara and the 95 at m-l-k. they'll be drilling tomorrow night starting at about 9 p.m. so look for lane closures in the area. armed prison guards using lethal force..... is about to become less common.... as the state responds to pressure from a use-of-force audit. contact 13..... chief investigator darcy spears is here to tell us..... about how they plan to reduce.... the use of bullets behind bars. darcy stand-up: more guards, better training and rubber bullets. that's how officials will cut down on deadly shootings in nevada prisons.

since they have no plans to eliminate the use of live mcdaniel defended the use of shotguns loaded with birdshot at a thursday meeting of the board of state prison commissioners. this comes as nevada faces lawsuits over prison shootings. contact 13 investigated one at high desert state prison in 2014 that left inmate carlos perez dead and andrew arevalo severely wounded. the two were shot while handcuffed behind their backs by guards who say they were breaking up a fight. mcdaniel said the state's new tools reduce the need for lethal force, but said it remains a valuable and potentially life-saving last resort. darcy stand-up: in addition to the lawsuits, the state attorney general is reviewing guards' actions in the perez shooting. we're closely following that case expect an announcement from the a.g. very soon. darcy spears, channel 13 action news.

of the international nuclear agreement negotiated this past july. obama sot: we've achieved this historic progress through diplomacy without resorting to another war in the middle east. s/u: as for the two remaining ex- prisoners, one is believed to be still in iran and an american student, who was released independently has already headed home. lh, abc news, ny. now to a developing story.... family and friends are mourning the loss of a chicago newswoman known as a trailblazer. anne swaney's body was discovered friday morning in a river in belize. the 39-year-old wa an executive producer at abc-seven-chicago-dot- com. swaney was a globe-trotter who was in western belize earlier this week. she was ready to take part in a horseback riding expedition, but volunteered to stay behind when the group was short one horse. when the tour returned, they noticed that swaney was missing and that things seemed suspicious. they found her body with bruises and cuts the next day.

an investigation is under way. new information tonight on the recent arrest of two people from virginia on terrorism charges. authorites say joseph hassan farrokh was eager to join isis and get on the battlefield. another man, mahmoud amin mohamed elhassan.... introduced him to a man he believed had connections to jihad forces outside the u.s. instead, the man was a confidential informant working for the fbi. neighbors say they are stunned by the arrests. etienne gilbert "i would chat with hassan once in a while...very nice guy...all the people in their house...smiley, gentle...nice people...so personally...i feel like i wouldn't see that coming...but i don't know" both men are set to appear in federal court in alexandria on tuesday. prosecutors say if convicted, they could face a maximum of 20 years in jail. an action news update tonight. one of the most wanted

multiple violent bank robberies in colorado. surveillence video from a robbery in september shows two men wearing masks from the movie "scream".. jumping the counter.. guns in hand. authorities say.. they forced the tellers to the back and told them they would die unless they open the vault. . the fbi says mason and two other accomplices were behind another robbery...where two innocent people were shot. mason.. remained on the run for months before investigators in colorado.. finally tracked him down.. and arrested him. a developing story out of hawaii tonight rescuers have expanded their search for the 12 marines missing since their two military helicopters apparently collided in the waters off the hawaiian island of oahu. the marines were conducting training flights late thursday when officials believe the two ch-53 choppers crashed into each other. the u-s coast guard says no mayday call was received, just word that something had gone wrong.

continuing to search for a missing ski instructor. search and rescue teams are focusing their efforts on an avalanche slide area where the phone of 23-year-old carson may last pinged. may was last seen skiing on thursday afternoon at sugar bowl ski resort. he was supposed to get a ride home but didn't show up. an outbreak of violent and deadly tornadoes ripped through florida's west coast this morning. those storms killing two people and injuring at least seven. steven and kelli wilson were asleep in their mobile home when that deadly tornado struck. wilson died immediately. his wife, passing away from a heart attack a short time after. their son managed to crawl from the wreckage, helping his four children to safety. randy sharp sot: woke up this morning and lost a family, friend and neighbor. in siesta key, another twister damaged this home, trapping two victims inside officials are now telling residents with storm damage to stay away

chipotle will close all of its restaurants next month to hold staff meetings about food safety. that will happen february 8th. the fast food chain ha been under intense scrutiny over the past year after being tied to a series of outbreaks including ecoli.. salmonella.. and norovirus. happening right now. police need your help tracking down a pair of robbery suspects. the two suspects are accused of stealing merchandise from a clothing store near the 2000 block of north rainbow back in december. they allegedly used a weapon during the robbery to prent the employees from stopping them and escaping. police are looking for a person of interest.. identified as 37- year old gerardo campos-torres.. in connection to thursday's shooting death of 76-year-old bacilio garcia. it happened just after 7pm during an argument at a home near rancho and washington. another man was critically wounded.

contact metro right away. dramatic moments of fire crews rescuing a family were caught on a firefighter's helmet cam. the blaze broke out at an apartment complex in fresno, california. seven people had to be rescued, including a family of three on the second floor whose only way out was through a window. crews pulled out a baby first, then the mother and finally the father. some residents were treated for smoke inhalation. intense video coming out of australia... a car smashes into a gas station nearly hitting a woman inside and it's all caught on camera. the woman disappears from sight as the car flies into the convenience store. it appears she is hit... but the car just misses her. the crash triggered a gas leak. authorities blocked off the area until it was contained. store workers dragged the two people inside the car out to safety. they were taken to the hospital for treatment. police are investigating what
