9:15 am
>> let's look at before and afters. this can be amazing for people. thiss ia perfect thing to do. >> every time you come in, we'll shrink down more and more. you'll lose from half inch to 2 inches, it's up to you to keep it off, and every time you come more. >> we see that men get treated. >> men and women both. >> once the inches go off, you have to be eating right, and not keep eating the hamburgers. >> correct, we have a few tips. >> to help keep the inches off. >> first off, you hear it all the time, water, water, water. you want to stay hydrated, on a cellar level your body works on

9:21 am
welcome back, if you're saving for retirement you may have a 401 k, but the next guests say that might not be enough.
9:22 am
and abe ashton, they're here from ashton strobelt. >> welcome back gentlemen, how are you? >> doing well. >> great to see you, there's many choices when it comes to retirement accounts. what do you suggest? >> there's a lot of different options, people e-mail us, and say, where do we get started. the key is to get started on anything. it doesn't matter if we're talking about a roth 401. when we started, we had three kids and realized that college is expensive, and then decided to have three more, that way, we decided -- got six kids, sell three if needed. right? to fund college per the other three. we have a couple of options, family hunger games, whoever survives. but you have to start somewhere. we start putting in the 529 college education plan.
9:23 am
you think that's not a difference, but it's been 15 years since we did that. and we moved up, we've added more as we go p and $20 a month don't add up to be anything, and 15 years later, the college funds have 20 to $30,000 each. the key is to start. >> you need a financial advisor to clear the mystery behind what is pretax, post tax. >> for sure, there are tax benefits to college plans like 529's, where you put money in a savings account or a cd. >> sitting down with an advisor, can be overwhelming. what should people know? >> there's a lot of fears that people have, before they go in
9:24 am
they might fear this might be an expensive meeting if i sit down with an advisor. i can't afford to talk to one. at our office, that's not farther from the truth. when you sit down with an advisor, it's more of a discovery meeting, find the needs of the client and the expertise of the advisor if it's a good fit. and any fees should be disclosed. it's interesting, another fear that people have, going into an advisor relationship, hey, what if they tell me something bad of the finances. the fear of knowing, sometimes is hard. just like going to a doctor, and going to a doctor and he might say hey, you need to lose weight. you don't want to hear that.
9:25 am
>> think about that every day, motivate me to go to the gym. >> you might as well know sooner than later. >> that's the point, the sooner you know, the more chance you have of getting it fixed. and same with the finances to get back on track. >> a lot of people who don't make the first appointment. >> the first appointment is easy. we talk about a couple of things, looking at your estate and assets, how important is it for you to leave things to your heirs, and some say, i want the last check to bounce, i want it all gone. and many people say, we have 500,000, or 200,000, we want to maintain that nest egg, and take an interest to live off. that's the matrix that we talk about, to see what are your goals and priorities. >> yes, some people want to leave a legacy for the kids, and government.
9:26 am
come in and end up getting a lot of it. >> when we come to you, bring documentation? >> the first time you come in, bring whatever questions you have, the tax returns, roth ira, stocks, bring that in, and we'll be happy to go over that with you. some just want to chat and find out more about us. that's okay too. it's more to come in and sit down, and funed out what the -- find out what the priorities are, and can we help? and that's okay, now you have more information, before you came in. >> absolutely, how do we set up the first appointment zieshgs it's easy, call the office. people can come to the office, we offer a complimentary
9:27 am
morning blend. >> the stock market has tanked, and people's investments are in there, and you can help them diversify. >> absolutely, and we're definitely geared more to the conservative shop. people want to double their money overnight, we're not the shop for them. >> heading down that final stretch. >> the second half of life, that's us. >> thank you so much. be sure to tune in each and every thursday morning on the morning blend. for more information on ashton strobelt, they're located on saint rose parkway, in henderson. make an appointment today, and check out the fancy socks. you have it going on. >> the best socks. up next on the blend, get comfortable with this adorable guy, salvino, and how to adopt

9:32 am
the perfect him is to go home with a buddy. to stay at home and play with, and run around. he is 10 years old, he's a little dog, that's only half way through his life. if he could have someone to play with, it would be perfect. >> he's adorable. very quiet and nice. and incentive for someone to adopt, you're giving something away. >> yes, this pet bed, it's perfect for me to lie on. i can sit there and take a nap with him. with him, comes this mattress. >> this is a mcmansion. >> put him on there. test it out. >> i don't think he'd stay. >> very cool, you adopt a dog, from the morning blend, you get one. >> absolutely, and the little dog last week went home, and they picked up their bed as well.
9:33 am
parents? >> it's springtime, the hotter weather is coming up, we can always use foster parents. we had a puppy come in the other home. so i took him home. we have so many motherless kittens, and puppies and bunnies, it's great, if you have the time and space to take home two or three puppies, a month ago, we had eight that needed a home. so really, if you have some time, step up and help out. >> if you might not have a room for a foster home, maybe go out and volunteer. >> absolutely, come down and help to socialize the animals, get them out of the kennels, and run around. we're in an industrial area, we can run around and it's really fun sunday mornings, there's a

9:35 am
news. what other dogs and cats are available? >> we like to shine the light on the bunny rabbit. they're not a good gift for easter. if you're thinking of getting a rabbit, come down, we have a great staff that work with them, spend time with the rabbits, get in the kennels, and spend an hour with them, to make sure they're right for you. they cannot live outside. anything over 85 degrees is fatal to a rabbit. they need space. my bunny has a 6 by 8 foot cage to run around. >> thank you very much. >> thank you. >> thank you salvino. if you'd like to adopt him, head down to nspca. for more information, visit the website or call the number on your screen.
