9:15 am
what's the first thing people should understand about personal finance? >> that probably everyone has the same issue. we meet about five to ten people a day, most of them come in with debt issues and a lot don't know how much they make and how much they spend. a budget. how much is coming in, how much is going out. >> sounds really simple but it's true, not everybody knows how much they make and how they spend and they're intimidated by keeping track of it. >> they are. it can be a sometimes you don't want to know, you put your head in the sand. we ask what is your gross income versus your net income, and a lot of people don't know that dissings the. gross is what you get before taxes the net is what you get after taxes. that's an important question for a lot of things we do. >> some people get opening up microsoft and excel. >> myself included. >> i do. >> but it's pretty helpful to figure out where the money is going, and get some sort of
9:16 am
>> definitely. >> the game plan. >> you don't have to be a computer expert. you don't know how to work excel. boxes, you don't need -- because the banks do it for you, because it's electronic. all you need is a debit card and that can track everything you're spending as long as you spend everything on the card. you have to get away from using cash and use the debit card to track everything and that can help you create a budget. >> i have been using cash nights my hand and i have a little bit of control over it, but you're saying it's hard to keep track of your -- >> it can be. keeping track of every little penny, which is important just to start. just so you have a good baseline. now after that, after you done that, then you can start trusting yourself because you kind of know how much you can spend and what it feels like. before then you need to have the baseline to determine what you're spending and what you're taking in. >> and there are apps if you need to you can punch in what
9:17 am
hand and you're letting good of cash, if i had to spend a thousand dollars on a new comb purer and did it on a card, it'n bills, it hurts more. >> yes. there's a connection, an emotional connection. >> that's what i like about it. but it is good, i think anything that connects you more to what is going on with your money is a good thing. >> of course. >> it's about keeping the constant connection. it's daily, right? >> it's daily. >> it can be so >> it can be, but that's why we say use a check card and review it once a month. there is certain percentages of what you should spend on certain things in your life, so the government does this. they tell your 31% of your gross income is a reasonable amount to spend on a principal and interest payment on your house. they have other categories for food, other categories for entertainment. that will set the baseline if you don't know how much you should spend on certain things.

9:19 am
you save up money, and then if you have an emergency you don't need to get a pay doe loan or get in debt, and that solves a lot of the issues that people have. >> it seems like where as some parents teach that lesson, sometimes kids like myself dummies learn the hard way because we don't listen. but if this was taught in school at a younger age do you think that there would be -- >> it's a necessity. >> it seems to be ignored. >> it's basic. you get kicked out of the house the and you go out to live on your own, and you don't know how to budget and live, and you have the credit card companies preying on kids under 21 now. when i went to college it was 18. not anymore. and so they get you in debt and you can't get out of it. it's a spiral that you really can't escape if you don't know how to budget well. it should be taught. >> great having you. >> thank you so much for sharing information. >> pleasure. >> he's here to help us. >> it's important for every

that are trained with a different mentality where it's about trying to get the ticket and get the most out of the customer. and so we actually pride ourselves in going in and getting people that are newer into the industry and training them the right way. >> people go online usually to give bad reviews. you have solid reviews. i don't know how you manage that, other than great service. >> that's it. we work hard. we train on the experience to be for the customer. we train on that. and we actually just go out of our way to make sure that our technicians know the outcome. the outcome is to give the best experience for the customer. >> by the way, you just got honored with the rock star. we only bring that out for special guests. you know what, we were looking at your online reviews just
9:43 am
and i take them with a grain of salt but helps me find a company. let's read one of your. one comment mr. r says is the technician was robert, great guy and knowledgeable, could answer all his questions and even gave him tips. mr. r calls robert -- >> that's you. you're the man. >> i'll take it. >> this is fantastic. first of all how does that make you feel? >> feels great. >> that's why you strive for. >> every day, yup. >> of course. customers right now call to have, say, robert come in and take a look at their system now as opposed to waiting until next summer? >> right now the unit is being stressed, and so sense it's being stressed this is when we want to check it. it doesn't do as much good if it's early in the spring and the una it is -- the air is still coming outside. we can really get a good measure where the system is and what's
9:44 am
>> people might be thinking i'm going to turn it off pretty soon, why do i need to deal with it. we're talking about longevity toker the life of your system. >> absolutely. >> is that right. >> this is -- we're long term thinking so we want to get the most out of the system, and so getting it done now we can give you exactly where you are in the math. we can let you know and you can make the decision. if it's at the end of its life you should be thinking you can start saving now so you're not surprised by it if it does next summer. >> of course. and if you're just there and you're cleaning off fity coils you can save that system several years by having taken care of now. obviously there is hot weather to come. i was looking at the seven-day. it's like 102, 98, 99, 101. that's cool for vegas. try it without an air conditioner. you'll be miserable. so what's a tuneup for our system consist of? >> you know, we will go out there.

9:46 am
still going. >> because they've been properly maintained. >> taken care of properly. installed properly is a huge part of it. >> you go in and see an older unit, eight, nine, 10-years-old. how do you prolong the life of that? >> cleaning the coils, that's huge. all the dirt and grime gets blown in. >> it makes the compressor work harder. just checking a lot of little parts that protect a lot of bigger, more expensive parts, can extend the life of the system. >> awesome. eight years or maybe as long as 20, what causes them to fail? when do you know you need a new unit? >> well, if it's under the ten years and the company did the right job and did the warranty paperwork you'll have warranty things, but you'll know it's time to replace it when you're not having the experience you want from the air conditioning unit. >> when your electrical is -- you know something is gone. >> if you have a hot room or there is so many things that

spare. >> it's a great plan. it's very unique. >> and you mentioned alignment is part of it as well. why is alignment so important when it comes to putting new shoes on a car. >> alignments are extremely important. it's critical with extending the wear and tear on your tires. the tire that i brought has a huge alignment issue. this is called toe wear. the angle of the tire isn't flat to the pavement. so this corner edge here is actually rubbing at a higher rate than the rest of the tire, so it called tread separation. so you can see the actual separation in the tire. >> if you keep driving the tread will literally come off the tire. >> correct. >> you've all seen that on the road. >> the carcass of the tire will split and come off. when you see a tire that's come apart that is the carcass removing itself. >> coming back to you a few months later and just making sure they're aligned correctly is how you maintain them, right? >> yes. and that's why -- in our plan
