if you're joining us for our next topic, we'll be having an intimate discussion about a woman's gain logical health. did you know as many as 50% of postmenopausal women experience vaginal discomfort? now there is a new laser treatment that is changing lives. joining us to talk about this revolutionary new treatment is dr. jasmine pedroso from las vegas minimally invasive surgery and women's public health center. also here is patient phyllis hall, good morning, ladies and gentlemen. >> good morning. >> yes. tell us all about mona lisa touch? >> it's a f.d.a. approved laser meant for the treatment of vaginal dryness. pain with sex. and this is something that women experience usually after menopause or after surgical menopause, after their ovaries have been removed for things
9:21 am
cancer. something that we as physicians don't necessarily diagnose for them. it's really patients that diagnose themselves with these problems. the problem is that we have difficulty talking about these kinds of issues. >> yes. >> and so it's also very undiagnosed problem. but the mona lisa touch is a laser that -- again, it's just newly f.d.a. approved. it's a laser that actually intended for the vagina and what we do is in office treatment under no anesthesia where we expose the vaginal tissue to a certain level of inflammation that then has a reaction that results in decreased vaginal dryness, decreased vaginal pain with sex, increased moisture and you get those results for three to five years.
9:22 am
presented. >> it is. >> it's a very personal issue. >> exactly. >> and one thing you mentioned to me, we have an idea about what the laser treats. one thing you mentioned to me is that these are difficult symptoms because it's not something that a doctor can diagnose. so you're encouraging women to come in and say, i am feeling this. i am experiencing this. this is happening to me. postmenopause is a big time of life when this happens and there is a few other situations that might apply. >> most everyone would be a candidate, anyone who has these symptoms, vaginal dryness, pelvic pain, people who cannot take hormones because of breast cancer history, that kind of thing. so anyone really is a candidate. anyone who can bring themselves to the office and undergo a small procedure in the vagina, takes about five minutes in the office to actually get this done. so really it's about educating patients to know that this treatment is out there and that
9:23 am
symptoms, to come in and ask about it. >> what about the best time to start a treatment like this? do you have to do it right away on the onset of the symptoms in can you come in at any time? >> at any time. so we have women that have just gone through surgical menopause where, for example, they're diagnosed with breast cancer or the breast cancer brc 1 or 2, had their ovaries removed and are going through early menopause in their 20s and 30s. you don't have to wait for your symptoms to be severe at all. you can come in right away, get these treatments done as a preventive measure. but oftentimes what happens is because this is new technology that's come out in the last two years, the f.d.a. approved now, we actually see women that have gone through menopause, say 50 years ago. >> wow. >> like our patient here. and who has been suffering with these symptoms just in silence without any help, without any treatment and now they're coming
9:24 am
do you have anything to help? now we can finally say yes. >> i love that this is being discussed. honestly. because i feel like postmenopausal symptoms, it's something you know it's gonna happen to you later in life, but there isn't a lot of discussion about it. >> it's a little bit private. you have -- >> thank you for being here, by the way, and sharing. it's very transparent of you to just come in and say, tell me about the symptoms you're experici benefited from mona lisa touch. >> i was 28. i had a hysterectomy. i started menopause very young. and i had symptoms which i did not realize what it was and doctors told me about this and i jumped on it within seconds. >> can i ask you what the symptoms were? >> it was dryness with intercourse and the moisture
9:25 am
>> okay. >> just uncomfortable all the time. you know, women know. we know our bodies and that's what's important, to know your bodies. >> so tell me when you went through this procedure, by the way, you were the second health center in the country to get this technology. >> yes. >> so it's very exciting for us here in las vegas. when you went through this procedure, was it easy? >> very easy. it's very easy. you go in just like having a checkup. they do their -- i call it a laser. i'm not educated for the proper name of it. but it reminds me of that. didn't take long. not expensive. it's something that every woman needs to do if you have a problem. i have told my sister and many friends and they're ready. >> i'm telling you, women are so good at word of mouth. aren't we? so it's great we're sharing this here.
9:26 am
more information? n our web site at www.lvmis.com. or go to the well health web site. wellhealth qc.com. they can also look it up on google. we're on the internet and they'll hear testimonials and cost breakdown, that kind of thing. >> thank you for shedding light on this topic and fillies, thank you for sharing. >> thank you. >> ladies, do you have questions about the mona lisa touch? a phone number and web site are listed on your screen. for mor vegas minimally invasive surgery and women's pelvic health center is a well health quality care center. shawn, back over to you. >> j.j., thank you so much. exciting concerts are on the horizon. look, it's a bird. it's a plane. it's smash mouth! performing free tomorrow as part of the conclusion of rock of vegas concert series over fremont street experience. the third street stage saturday. for more information, the web

9:31 am
they don't even get an opportunity to see the future. so we must do something about it. i want to go before congress next year and talk about this disproportionate amount of money spent. i'm trying to take action, hopefully with everybody watching, go to criss angel help.com. buy a ticket. 100% of the proceeds unlike most charities go to children's treatment and research and we also have an incredible show with jerry lewis, tony orlando. richie sambora. imagine dragons told me they're going to be there. floyd mayweather. and if you can't be there, it's okay. go to criss angel help.com and bid on an auction item. there is over 60 auction items that you can't buy, experiences unlike anything that were given to me by my friends. if you like celine dion, jennifer lopez, you can actually go stay in a hotel, eat at their favorite restaurant. see their show and then hang out with them afterwards.

a car, a motorcycle. i mean, there is just incredible items. blue man group is performing, cirque de soleil. >> stop. >> it's tom green is going to be there. just everybody -- andrew dice clay will perform. >> wow. >> everybody. >> what's he gonna do? >> he's gog read a nursery rhyme. [ laughter ] >> that's how it starts. >> it's going to end nicely. >> this is what i love p you. i remember when you were too long ago you were telling me we're setting thumb show, it's going to be huge. you really dug in your heels when the diagnosis came in for your son. you want to do everything possible. >> right. absolutely. when you're a parent, it's a completely different perspective. >> we have some photos. >> yeah. that's johnny and i at the zoo in australia. that's him getting his chemo, spinal taps, blood transfusion. he had three years of treatment. he's into it almost a year.
