nevadans to get out and vote early. she'll hold an event at the smith center downtown. it starts at 5-30 in the afternoon. we have more information at ktnv dot com. joe biden is also going to be in town this week. he'll campaign on behalf of hillary clinton and catherine cortez masto. vice president will be encouraging voters to vote early. the rally will take place at culinary union local 226 hall doors open at 10-45 am again you can fine more information at ktnv dot com. vo there is still time to register to vote. the nevada secretary of state has extended the deadline to send in voter registration applications by mail. tomorrow is the deadline. the county election department offices will be open extra hours to accomadate that deadline... you can still register online and in person until october 18th.

public pre k program in the city of las vegas is closer t0 becoming a reality. today- mayor carolyn goodman and council woman lois tarkanian were among several key members of the community excited to kick off the building renovations for the strong start academy . the mayor says the estamated cost of the buiilding with renovations is about 2-point-5 million dollars. it's funded by the city's set aside money . ( sot ) mayor carolyn goodman have been working on - i have been working on for the past 6 years ... the education component is so critical to any community .. early education is the most important piece 102731 the early childhood education program will not only help bridge the gap for lower income families . it will help keep children ages 3 and 4 on track to attain reading proficiency by the 3rd grade. the school is set to open in august .. and will initially house close

minutes before three palm springs police offers were shot over the weekend. the father of the suspect now says his son was quote acting crazy and wanted to shoot police. officers initially responded to a domestic dispute at the palm springs home... three officers were shot during a 12 hour stand off with the suspect 26- year-old john felix. two officer were killed...one officer just weeks from retiring and another was a new leave chief bryan reyes palm springs police department 1-:12 " here we have a wonderful, young dedicated female officer that press forward everyday to make it better for everybody else. these 2 officers are the first to die in the line of duty in palm springs in more than 50 years. a terrifying scene in long island over the weekend...when a commuter train right off the

police say a man crashed into a car with five teens inside. the car with the teens inside burst into flames. when a police officer arrived on the scene, the suspect in the crash, stole the police crusier, and police say he caused another crash down the intersate as well. that driver is now in custody. a woman in alabama was able to prevent her donut shop from getting robbed by fighting off the suspect with a cake mixer...and it was all caught on camera... enter her store who she thought was "supicious." when may walked into the backroom, the hooded man tried to pry open the cash register, and that's when she came back to fight him off. he tried to open i tried to call i'm not scared, i'm mad at him because i look at him and he don't have gun, he had pipe. although k-may did her best to fight off the intruder, he did
