picking up your kids from school. up your kids from school. plus... a major travel nightmare for drivers here in the valley. the big changes coming to the spaghetti bowl that will affect your commute. but first...... police desperately searching for a slot machine bandit -- after stealing from businesses across the valley. police are looking for a man they're calling -- a serial slot machine robber. they say he has broken into several machines acro the latest -- this morning-- in the northwest part of the valley. 13 action news reporter marissa kynaston walks us through what happened. police say that man walked through these doors-- holding a crowbar. take vo this is cell phone video of what that video poker machine looks like now-- you can see the cash entry part of the machine completely ripped off. police say around four this morning-- the man walked into the gas station-- and broke into the machine with his crowbar-- then took off with the money.

how close the video machine is to the cash register-- where the manager tells me-- an employee was behind the counter when it happened. customers at the gas station today-- told me what they thought when they saw the broken machine. ray nichol, customer 22:20:15:25 that somebody got upset after losing (haha), i didn't see anything crazy, just looks like it's broken, like somebody tried to kick it in 22:20:23:05 marissa tag the gas station does have survhave seen their suspect-- but since it is still an ongoing released that footage. mk-- 13an. a 13 action news update this afternoon... we have now learned that the suspect in a violent carjacking has died -- after being shot by a state trooper after a high speed chase. it all began yesterday morning when police say the suspect forced his way into a woman's car at a gas station near eastern and fremont. then he took off. police chasing him to a car dealership near gibson and auto show drive. investigators say there he tried to carjack an elderly

a-t-m. investigators say the suspects were even driving a stolen truck....the two are also supsected of another theft just a few weeks ago. the lead singer from motley crre--vince neil is facing the music for this incident on the strip. who can forget this video from a woman claimed neil pulled her by the hair -- when he got into a fight with his friend nicolas cage. today, a judge ordered neil to get counseling for impulse control. neil didn't show up in court today... but we talked to his attorney after he entered a guilty plea on the singer's behalf. mr neil is pleased to put this behind him and focus on his tour and his business ventures and move forward neil will also have to pay a 1- thousand dollar fine -- and stay out of trouble for six

is recovering after this crash near charleston and decatur. you can see the motorcycle collided with a red truck. no word yet on who was at fault. the rider had serious injuries, but we're told they will survive. a horrifying morning in kentucky today.. an s-u-v slams into three children, leaving two -- fighting for their lives. it happened while the children were waiting at the bus stop. abc's elizabeth hur has the latest on the investigation. louisville, kentucky.. when police say the bus made a sudden stop and the driver of the s-u-v.. trying to avoid the bus.. veered right.. hitting three children.. waiting for the bus. police say.. the bus had its flashers on in this case.. but watch.. these close calls from recent years.. cars.. nearly missing children.. even though the buses activated those flashing stop signs.. have some safety experts sounding the alarm.. reminding drivers.. to slow down. their homes ...after making landfall late last night. the typhoon is the second storm to batter the country within a week. the storm also caused severe floods and landslides. thankfully, no deaths have been reported. first responders in southern california are bracing for some record breaking heat today... that could bring more quick-spreading brush fires like this one. the flames were threatening it took about 450 firefighters two hours to get the fire out. fortunately they were able to keep it from getting to any homes, and no one was injured. a 13 action news update this afternoon... good news for people living on mount charleston-- the forest service says the 'october fire" is now 100- percent contained. they are warning that trees and brush are expected to keep burning over the next few days, but crews have everything under control. the fire burned through 27 acres. let's go to 13 first alert

because the sunroofs can come loose the recall covers certain sonata midsize cars from the 20-15 and 20-16 model years, including gas- electric hybrids. dealers will repair the wind deflector anchor plate at no cost to customers. owners will be notified by mail in december about when to take their cars in for service. the problems continue to mount for wells fargo. the california attorney general is now investigating the bank for identity theft.
